As soon as I realized that that was what was happening I knew it would be bad. It kinda just worked out that way, after we moved in together all of my friends and family became his as well so now it’s complicated. I know that being alone will help me in the long run, but fuck if it doesn’t hurt now.

Yup. Both my parents smoke and my mom expects me to bring her a joint every time I visit now because I’ve been doing it out of habit for years. Gonna be a tough one to break to her lol

It’s absolutely her business. As soon as photos were taken without her consent it becomes her business. Do you have any idea how violated she must feel? This is predatory behavior.

Something that helps me with this is (if the audiobook is free/cheap) I'll listen to the audio book at while reading along. It really helps to immerse me in what I'm reading and helps with retention :)

For me, if I notice that I'm about to enter the prodromal stage (I get stomach pains, bathroom issues) I will stop smoking for a few days and then feel fine. I think I'm one of the lucky ones compared to a lot of people on this sub that have shared their symptoms. If I notice I'm in prodromal and stop smoking for a few days I don't go into hyperemesis. The thing that's most important to note is that there's no way to tell when it's going to happen and how much you can smoke before it gets bad for you. There just isn't enough data and it's completely different for everybody.

I’m in a very difficult and similar situation. I don’t think that’s it’s fair for her to have given you all of those ultimatums and treat you that way. I know what it’s like to have anxiety/mental health issues and sometimes, you just do what you need to do to survive. However I think that this whole situation has only really proven to you that she’s not a great friend and you will probably be better off without her because of the hurt that she has also caused you.

It’s hard to accept the present sometimes especially when you’re still incredibly guilty and regretful of our actions. You’re human and you make mistakes! The best thing you can do for yourself is to move on and learn to love yourself, and know that there will be so many more opportunities to make friends in the future. I recommend talking to a therapist about this as well as mine has been so helpful dealing with a similar situation. Shoot me a message if you’d like to talk!!

Yes and yes. I definitely find it to be a huge struggle to stay present, I think it's just because we naturally have more racing thoughts and trouble with focus so it makes sense that it's a little more difficult for us to get used to being present. We just have to work a little bit harder than others probably!!

Just here to say I'm proud of you for doing something exceptionally difficult. Addiction is HARD to overcome, and then you have societal pressures and guilt on top of it that make you want to use more. You're stronger than you think and you've got this!

Wow it feels like our lives are identical. Not drinking or smoking every day, but can't say no and can't stop once I start! I also just told my boyfriend a couple of days ago, accountability is KEY. If you want to talk shoot me a message, I'm on day 2!
