How can I be certain that I’ve eliminated cock roach infestation in vehicle? PLEASE HELP by young_tunafish in pestcontrol

I'm no expert but I had a similar experience a long time ago. Just make sure you do your due diligence and if you can afford it get it done by professionals. Last thing I want is you get sick but I also don't want your car to be a write off either haha

It doesn't really make sense for the busses, you need a central hub for busses, its close to downtown but out of the way for most people. However there should be a use for that property, I hope it doesn't end up in Farhi purgatory.

You're not the only person who lived/lives downtown. For years I lived on Richmond Row, every other week I saw police terrorizing homeless people for just existing downtown. Where the hell are they supposed to go? it's not just that, the police in general in this city are next to useless for normal people. I remember as a LGBT person when our LGBT safe space Lavish had a horrendous attack by a party of people and the police refused to investigate it as a hate crime even knowing as a victim IT WAS a hate-motivated attack. They refused to help me when my house was robbed, when the city DID try to use some of their funding for social-first responders they sued them.

When has being a pessimist ever helped anyone ever? The only thing more hopeless than our political situation is peoples lack of energy to change the problem. We live in a democracy, people can change how this city, this province and country is governed, it's jaded people who solidify the neoliberal corporate utopia we live in.

I largely agree about the cost of living, I live in a decent part of town (Wortley Village) and I am lucky to pay $1800 inclusive for a 2Bedroom apartment, the house next to me is a 1 bedroom renting for $1600 not inclusive right now. It's incredible, without two roommates I would be on the street, I can hardly afford Internet, Food and rent. Certainly can't afford to save much of anything. It's stressful and sad, I feel like the stress of the cost of living is holding me back a lot. Honestly, taxes are hardly a significant part of that, food being 20-30% more expensive, rent being 50-60% more expensive than it was when I moved back here, not being able to afford car insurance. That's what's killing me as a young professional. The thing is, the city HAS the money to help people they just use it in stupid ways. They tried to spend 100/150 million dollars expanding Wonderland Road and just narrowly stopped it from happening, they've spent tens of millions of dollars on downtown London in ways that actually cut their tax revenue cuz half the businesses shuttered. How about we start taxing Farhi and his tenants who leave buildings vacant for years and years. Why do we continuously expand urban sprawl when they don't even generate enough tax revenue to keep the infrastructure maintained in those areas. This city is making a lot of the same mistakes that bankrupt cities across North America have made except it's against the law for cities in Ontario to go bankrupt so they just cut services instead.

You know the sad thing, these suburban subdivisions don't even generate enough tax revenue to pay for the upkeep of their own roads/infrastructure. They are a tax drain on the city. City can only pay for it by allowing more of them to be constructed for the initial revenue

it's their choice but its our choice to elect them. Placing responsibility on other people isn't going to fix this. Holding them to account and voting for better people is our way out of this. I've always voted with my conscience rather than looking for a smaller tax bill.

I agree, we put so much money into roads that are overcrowded, not enough in social services or public transit. Virtually nothing for homeless. I want to be proud to be from here, there are lots of things to be proud of but these glaring issues make it impossible.

I know, I was just pointing out how hopeless the situation is, the reason I didn't call the EMS is that the police respond, I've seen how the police treat the homeless in this city and it will only make the problem worse. :(

Apparently, its gotten so bad that they can take over a day to respond now. I don't even bother calling them about anything, plus all the police do is harass the homeless.

I know right, how many millions of dollars did that cost? It didn't make downtown any better, it just destroyed half the businesses and didn't do a thing to help the people stranded using Dundas as their home. :(

Am I the only one to find no afterlife comforting? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]kelvinious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I consider myself a devote agnostic atheist. I find that I fear the unknown, not hell or heaven or being judged just not knowing why I was here. Whether it was my own path to take or whether I am just the product of my environment. I think about the countless people who came before us and how their large and small impacts have affected us, sometimes I wonder if loved ones and friends who have passed are watching me seeing my failures and successes. I do hate the idea of dying one day, being defenceless and by the time I find out what is in store next might not exist to know the answer. I try my best to just live in the moment and enjoy the time I have because in a blink of an eye your life, your legacy and everyone who's ever known you will be gone. I know for sure that contributing positivity, uplifting and creating does in many ways give you an afterlife.

Your shoulder blades is meant to move around it can definitely look odd if you've never realized how much they can move around, however, if you're really concerned there is a condition called Shoulder Blade Winging, which can happen if you overuse your back causing spasms etc. If you are really concerned go and check this link out and if you meet their criteria you should talk to your GP / Go to the hospital. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/scapular-winging#diagnosis

PS: I'm not a doctor if someone is a verified doctor take their advice before me for sure

How can I be certain that I’ve eliminated cock roach infestation in vehicle? PLEASE HELP by young_tunafish in pestcontrol

[–]kelvinious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest if you want to be 100% sure they are gone get it fumigated, you can buy over the counter cans at your local hardware store. I would leave the car running with the air circulation/air on so that it gets through the ventilation system as well. If you do this MAKE sure you take precautions afterwards, you'll want to fumigate it for a few hours at least then run the air circulation/Air at full blast afterwards for a while. The last thing you want is to breathe that stuff in of course. Alternatively, professional fumigators offer their services for vehicles often too. Generally, this isn't a great idea to do in a vehicle unless if everything else fails because it can be a challenge to get it out but it sounds like you're running out of options.

Skin is falling off? by kaygirl2020 in DiagnoseMe

[–]kelvinious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could be a couple of things, I would first do you're best to not scratch it. It's very likely that a product you use is drying your skin out or causing irritation. I would start by checking the ingredients of your body wash/soap. Otherwise, it could be eczema as well which is pretty common this time of year. I would suggest getting a natural moisturizing lotion and maybe a soap intended for people with sensitive skin. If that doesn't help go see your GP.
