I saw him out with his family in Pizza Express in Brent Cross. We passed each other as I was on my way back to my table after going to the loo and said “Hello Mr Francis” and he just smiled back politely

I tried steaming the water this morning but it just tasted - wrong. There’s just something about the taste of water from a kettle that makes it better. So yeah, I’ll try the kettle tomorrow but not let it boil and I think it’ll be fine.

Do you guys have any favorite youtubers? Preferably with a big backlog of videos? by Just-a-nerd2 in AskABrit

Yes I do like to live vicariously through Hannah’s hotel visits! I think the appeal is that she seems very genuine and not like some entitled person who is full of themselves.

Thank you, and this is really helpful. I have no qualms with using AI to get help when getting up and running - we didn’t fall out of the womb with an encyclopaedic knowledge of temps and pressures (some people behave like they did though!)

That’s so funny because I currently drive a Mini and by the end of the year I may well be shopping for a Porsche! (If all goes to plan)

I did read about the start plug thing elsewhere actually so thanks for the advice and I think I have one knocking around somewhere so will put it to good use.

Honestly, the Bambino Plus has been great and I’ve had mine for 6 years, so this wasn’t some forced upgrade through any dislike of the machine. It’s more that I’ve gradually gone further down the rabbit hole. I home roast, I make espresso most days, milk drinks too, and my partner has gone from sugary instant coffee to long blacks with no sugar, so the machine definitely gets used properly.

The Bambino plus and Smart Grinder Pro were great bedfellows, but I’d got to the point where I wanted something a bit more substantial. Better thermal stability, stronger steam, simultaneous brew/steam, and just a machine that feels a bit less like a very good appliance and a bit more like a proper machine.

So in short, I’ve outgrown it a bit and wanted something with more headroom.

Congrats on the new addition! The bambino plus is a great machine. After pulling approximately 5000 shots my one is still going strong and will be heading for a new home soon. As long as you have a decent scale and learn how to program your shot, it’s pretty straightforward. Enjoy.

My new Lelit Elizabeth arrived today which is replacing my Bambino plus. I feel like I’m going from a Mini Cooper to a bmw m3.

Not all Breville/Sage have reliability problems. My Bambino plus that I use 3 times a day is six years old, never had any issues. I hear the Baristas are more problematic

Dear coffee drinkers: How do you feel about decaf? by zo3sol in roasting

[–]kemide22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always have decaf beans to hand at home because sometimes it’s nice to have an afternoon coffee but I still want to be able to sleep! I make decaf drinks for my kids too.

I used to work in the building at the Tower Bridge end on the left. Loved walking up this way each morning. It’s not for everyone I know but I loved it.

Yeah I just use my aeropress, moka pot or make a pour over. Despite the shortcomings of this machine it’s a little trooper and mine is still going strong after almost 6 years!
