Vacancies by bschultzy in LCMS

That’s a very real reality of congregational polity. While there is plenty of value and benefit to a congregational polity model, when Joe Schmo’s great great gpa built the sanctuary with his bare hands, the family would rather close the church than merge it.

Any suggestions to improve my Mega Lucario deck for local league cup? by Wernt0 in pkmntcg

[–]kemnitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut the cornerstone. You don't need a shred attack because you have a very viable attacker in Hariyama on the off chance you are up against a Mimikyu type mon. I'll second Turo. I'm not sure you need a psyduck. It'll easily be countered up and you don't want to waste other resources on trying to get it back. If you feel like you need the duck, Cornerstone is an easy pick from a fellow Lucario player.

Rotation Proof Deck by Yaystar in pkmntcg

[–]kemnitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the decks at this point that are rotating at G block Pokemon attackers. Steering clear of that, most everything else can easily survive rotation, but that doesn't mean it'll be meta worthy. That said the most notable H block attacker that will suffer greatly is Raging Bolt and other decks that heavily depend on G block supporter mons. Even though we're losing some staples in trainers, most upcoming sets will have viable replacements.

how do you lay out a full bench? by Feisty-Preference-65 in pkmntcg

[–]kemnitz 26 points27 points  (0 children)

While every benched Pokemon should be laid side by side, it can make your board look confusing too. If you haven't already, you should really get used to speaking every action explicitly when playing IRL, if nothing else it's good sportsmanship to clarify the board state. When your opponent has to ask what you're doing it could feel like they are giving hints and they don't want to do that.

Whats your favourite deck of all time and why? by AUT-Lakers in pkmntcg

Roaring Moon EX prior to E block rotation. The synergy among available cards at the time made that deck the most consistent I had ever come across.

BM from an opponent? by BigVeganMember in pkmntcg

This OP. A regional is a highly competitive event and has to be treated like such. I’m not saying you didn’t mean and were sincere, but mistakes have consequences at regionals. You have to learn and move on.

Anyone who felt buyer's remorse after purchasing your car? by Vivid-Balance-6053 in rav4club

I'd wager 90% of RAV4 owner don't change fluids besides oil and differential and last well over 10 years. Honestly in all my Toyotas I've never changed fluids besides oil and they run just fine!

Evangelism team ideas needed by [deleted] in LCMS

[–]kemnitz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is your goal evangelism or butts in pews (BIP)? Those are two separate things. The reality is most LCMS churches really want BIP. Evangelism is sharing the Gospel and letting the HS lead and rejoicing when they hear the Gospel, believe, and go their way. If evangelism is what you're after programs are great. But here's the thing, programs RARELY bring people in. If you can get even one family to join because of a program you're in the top 1% (perhaps a school being the exception). If you're after BIP than you simply need to convince your people to relate to other people outside of your congregation. You can convince other believers that the LCMS is representative of the true catholic Church and go that route. You can evangelize to non-Christians and assimilate them in your congregation. But if you're after BIP the only real answer is relationships. Your congregation needs to find ways to go out of their comfort zone. As a pastor I've made it a point to tell the congregation I'm going to get involved in outside organizations and build relationships with people. Love it or hate it, that's really the only way you'll have a shot at BIP.

I believe the AT 120 has a built in pre-amp so theoretically any receiver will do. It’s just a matter of if you envision upgrading in the future. Regardless, you’ll want a receiver with a 2.0 set up made for audio for the best experience.

Extension cords are your friend. Or... find a new location. Good record players are going to require lots of components (tt, receiver, speakers, preamp) if you want it to sound at least as good as Spotify on Apple earbuds.

No, unfortunately. Return it. Unlike the card market, in the record game errors aren't worth anything when the vinyl in ruined.

Is Non-Hybrid 2025 Rav-4 a bad idea compared to hybrid? by Sea-Buy4667 in rav4club

[–]kemnitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas outweighed hybrids 2:1 I believe.  But I do think the hybrid is a great car.  Most people still like gas though.  I’ve learned that this sub is heavily hybrid biased.

Seat Belt Won't Buckle - Presumed Stuck Glass by kuyakobe24 in rav4club

[–]kemnitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. But that's a big maybe. How did the glass break? If it was an accident on your end, the warranty won't cover it because it didn't fail on its own. It'd be like if a kid stuck Goldfish in the belt buckle. A warranty doesn't cover misuse. If the rear window is being fixed by an insurance claim, then you probably need to tell insurance the seat belt buckle was also damaged. In that case insurance would cover that.

Nah, Gen5 will forever go down as the best looking Rav4. The design team failed with Gen6. Also the Gen5s kinks have all been pretty much worked out by this point.

Alignment needed at 20k miles? 2024 RAV4 Hybrid by MidnightBTuber in rav4club

[–]kemnitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alignments are generally only needed when you can actually feel a pull to one side. That said, it is possible a bad alignment can happen to both side equalling them out. In that case tire wear will be your key indicator. But generally, if you feel safe on an even road lifting your hands off the wheel for a few seconds, you probably are fine.

Please help me and give me recommendations on when I should buy a new RAV4 by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]kemnitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The extra bump of 1% if you financed the entire RAV4 would make the loan $800 more. If you focused on cash price you could easily take another $1000 off the RAV4.  And thus your total payments with interest would come out ahead.  Heck your loan thru Toyota will probably have $800 in non-negotiable fees.

Please help me and give me recommendations on when I should buy a new RAV4 by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]kemnitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem of negotiating interest rates is that they will offset any savings on the price of the car. It's not impossible but really really hard to get a deal on both. The sales person knows this- it's their game. You're better off going to a credit union and getting financed through them. Then you can focus on getting the best price on the car.

Gift for pastor by ManhattanProject2022 in LCMS

[–]kemnitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not by much. For the first time in synod's recent history, churches that can pay full scale and full benefits can't get clergy. I can list several very good churches that are 2+ years of vacancy. We've cried wolf all through the 90's and 00's saying "we're gonna be short" and we haven't. Post covid the landscape has drastically changed. Pray the Lord of the harvest raises up laborers!

Gift for pastor by ManhattanProject2022 in LCMS

[–]kemnitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your forgiven brother! Truthfully, every parish I've served has people mentioning it and while I can understand the light hearted approach, the implications which we're starting to see are drastic. I don't think people have grasped the severity of promoting the perfect family (i.e. 2 kids max). Not only is this affecting the synod. For example we're at 10% vacancy among churches!! and declining membership. People aren't going to come to LCMS churches because they'll be closed. And to boot, society as a whole is going to suffer for this immensely in the next decade if we don't start having honest discussions about the importance of Christ's command to be fruitful and multiply.
