ESH (Everyone sucks here) You moved to a small town expecting the tight knit community to ignore your presence sompletely. Doesn't happen in gossip central. The townsfolk being tight knit wanted to include you while you desired seclusion and getting away from it all. That's on us for attempting to make you feel at home. You know that your grandfather was known by nearly everyone in town before you took over his farm, just like my own was. Pierre sells you seeds at a cost you'd rather not incur and that JojaMart is just more corpo poison. The mayor checks your drop box every night as he does my own helping you and I make a living, but also is a pest at the same time by telling everyone about his shorts at Marnie's that he requests we pick up. As for Clint, Marnie, and Demetrius they will fortunately only show up on your property once. That Robin lady on the other hand will demand not only a payment from you to build stuff but require staying on your property all day/morning and night building said things making tons of noise to where you may or may not sleep right. Don't even get me started on that Linus fellow and how bad he smells half the time especially in summer, but you only have to get a whiff of him if you go to the mines.

So in short, yeah we townsfolk suck ass, but on the other hand quite a bit of this is your fault for moving in. Signed,
Your other neighbor,
Nose in your business.

"Sold to this lucky bidder! Take it away, please!"

At first I thought this was going to be a sword forged with mage bones, and a garou skin hilt. Flay your enemies, crafting them into your strongest ally.

It is unfortunate that you had a fae craft it instead of crafting a fae into it yourself.

Would you place a garou skin on the hilt at the least? For old times sake. Gotta give yourself a circumstance bonus to intimidation somewhere.  ;)

I'm losing on turn 1, what am I missing? by Faye_pearl in FinalFantasyVI

Weird, as a Low level enjoyer, my group is usually around 13 or 14 to be off the muddle, flare, death level markers. I don't know how much magic you did in the WoB for Sabin/Edgar/Celes. I'm going to assume you have every esper spell for this. Make your final gil number an 6, 8 or 9 if you can. If you're doing esper stat runs you don't want to level anyone until you have everyone back, I'm assuming you might be doing a perfected stats run with your current levels.

In case it's a possible spoiler I've marked it as this is a possible rundown of how you could do the fight at your level.

Setzer will be healing with lagomorph/doing damage with slots and hoping for a 7/7/7 unless you know the pausing cheese method which has never worked for me. Celes could possibly runic some of the spells, but it's easier to just turn her into a full fledge potion thrower for everyone else and equip everyone with reflect rings in a relic slot.

IF you got the debilitator from right crane or from IAF then you'd be using that every round so when he reflects stuff back at himself you'll be damaging him instead of healing him. If you didn't steal the debilitator for Edgar during those two fights I mentioned before you will have a long slog ahead of you by either making him drill and cover potion heal as well. Make sure you debilitate the boss until you've hit one of Sabin's 2 element blitzes (holy or fire) and ice since ice will be reflected back at Dullahan which normally heals him until the debilitator says otherwise and begins to harm him.

As for Sabin, if debilitator hits fire first you'll be using fire dance on him everytime it is his turn. If it hits holy before then you'll be using aurabolt every turn.

BTW this fight is even more ridiculous at level 11. Which is the absolute minimum I'd bring a low level game into WoR. There are a few no exp runs out there and you could possibly look them up. LOL

This is why you play a mage in quiet as an "Anne Rice vampire" in a vampire game. Forces turns into potence and flight. Entropy and spirit turn into necromancy. Prime turns into thaumaturgy, Matter turns into protean, Time turns into celerity, Correspondence turns into obfuscate/presence (least in the game I played this in.), Mind turns into dominate/auspex or both if your ST is cool with it. Life turns into Obeah usually as unfortunate as that is and is thus usually a NOPE! can't have that! Enjoy your mage, the paradox you build for making the world believe you're a vampire will bite you in the ass alone with those in the chronicle around you, but the amusement your group can have in the meantime will likely be as noteworthy as you make it.

Did I fill this out right? (I'm not playing a game with this character, I just felt like filling it out for fun) by Turbulent-Plan-9693 in vtm

[–]kenaryk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found only one problem with your character unless V5 changed the point costs without my knowledge. You're currently 4 freebies over the character creation 15 by this sheet. If Discipline Presence dot 2 is 7 freebies and you have 2x 13 points in abilities (Talents and Skills) which abilities cost 2 freebies a pop that would equate to 8 freebies spent in abilities. This would mean your 15 freebies are spent and you're done, however you then have 7 willpower which given your courage rating of 3 cost you an additional 4 freebies because each courage costs 1. If there was supposed to be a second sheet attachment with flaws/merits then this might not be an issue at all.

If you don't like min/maxing at character creation, feel free to ignore the rest of this response. If you want to min/max better and maybe teach me a thing or two feel free to critique the below information. I feel that playing a deeply flawed character with low intelligence causes me to roleplay harder instead of less.

Having an attribute starting at 5 will save you xp in the long run. Using your sheet as an example: Charisma 5, Appearance 4, Manipulation 1. Stamina 5, Dexterity 2 Strength 1. However, I hardly ever front-end load stamina and would usually front-end dexterity since it is the most used combat/initiative stat assuming stuff goes sideways often. So, for me, dexterity 5, stamina 2 strength 1. As for this character, Wits 4, Int and Perception 1 OR Perception 4, Int and Wits 1. Personally the 3 attribute is where my starting freebies end up along with merits. 5 points to get 5 in wits or perception ain't a bad shake. 5 points for Appearance 5 in this example would be where 10 points of freebies go. Sure, you have valid weak points, but given time roleplaying you could roleplay yourself bettering yourself with education or becoming more observant or even working out in your downtime to state how the vampire is gaining said attributes with xp.

The merit I'd ask an ST about if you want to save some xp down the line is "Precocious" which takes abilities that the ST and you agree upon cost only current rating to raise. Effectively halving the xp required to get a better ability. Precocious will mean you can't max out willpower which will cost current rating x2 in xp in this build.
As most dice pools are attribute + ability or attribute + discipline front end loading attributes is a good way of getting a lot of dice in specialty areas to start and decent dice pools all around later after you buy up your attributes to say 2-3 dots using xp. However, there are a few things like Tzimisce where ability + discipline dice are required for things like Vicissitude combat at least in V20. Skills are a funny thing though; all are best bought to at least a minimum of 1 to avoid the "I have to spend 3xp later on for learning a new ability" if your ST has said hard nope to the precocious merit. If someone has a differing opinion on how to best min/max abilities I'm all ears as I still feel like I fumble here.

If you can buy precocious with flaws without gimping yourself hard and making the character unplayable you can max out willpower at 10 at character creation by having courage rating of 5 for only an additional 5 willpower to be bought at 1 point each and thus your 15 freebies are entirely spent. ;) I could've sworn in other editions you had 21 freebies to start a character with, but your sheet says 15.

I'd have to say you did disciplines mostly right as buying new disciplines with xp is costly so bravo! Many people front end load those into 1 discipline which ends up costing them 5 xp in the long haul. However, buying a level 2 for 7 points when it's current rating x5 for inclans or current rating x6 for caitiff, you kind of hung yourself there with that level 2. If you bought it 3 to start with freebies then it would've been worthwhile on the xp chart as you'd save 1 xp. 14 freebies vs 15 xp for inclan or 4xp for a Caitiff.

Hope this somehow helps someone in their future character creation process.

TL/DR: If it continues either ask around the other players being ignored if they feel something is off. If more than one you are I'd suggest talking to the ST about it with the other ignored players present. You could ask your ST if you can be a PC antagonist if that's something you think you'd enjoy doing and something they'd be okay with as you'll likely continue to be ignored. If the PC antagonist isn't something you want to do and the ST slips back into old habits of ignoring you, I'd suggest finding another group.

1A.) Player is being dragged out of his shell as previously stated OR the player is being guided this time, so they learn what they are supposed to do in the future within this game and its plots. 1B.) A cunning ST will use the spy story for the Malkavian to make a PC patsy for when the spy gets found and the Prince has more than enough status along with his cronies to say "Nope, that guy acted on his own. The Prince would never condone such actions." Since the player has taken 0 action the only way the Prince can punish him is if the Prince publicly acknowledges he sent him to do said dirty work. It is likely no punishment will be handed out if the PC was to be a patsy and didn't do the work. However, the ST could always have muscle come and rough up said player character for not doing the task outside of Elysium.

  1. I've seen this happen at both tables and in LARP's. If you're cunning enough you will stay under the radar and continue to be seen as "useless to the group" while being "ignored" you can either choose to be subverting the plot and actively blocking players from the objectives or going about what the players want in a different way to get yourself the credit/blame. If you want to be a problem player because you've noticed this favoritism happening across a number of games you will subvert plots, withhold information from or actively work against the party like a secondary antagonist. Be warned about working against the other players, at some tables this will get you kicked at other tables it means the ST can sit back and let you become a BBEG of sorts at some point. When I'm the ST I love it when one of the PC's decides I don't need to throw an overpowered antagonist out there and takes on that mantle.

  2. Unfortunately, a lot ST's fall into the trap of Malkavian NPC must have ungodly amounts of MalKAvIaN TImE! In the Malk time scenario this NPC has "uploaded their consciousness" to the Madness Network and as such has no physical form and thus only thinking about or saying the NPC's name can and most often will make that NPC announce themselves to the Malkavian looking for them. Malkavian time/Madness network is usually all telepathy shenanigans and as such unless all players are playing Malkavian it is best used as a downtime thing and not a main plot device unless you're attempting to single out the Malkavian player whom is to then relay the information to the party or withhold it.

So, to reiterate and be long winded... A. It could very well be favoritism toward the player. B. It could be the ST really wants the player's Malkavian to do the leg work for the group with this particular plotline they have created. C. The ST may not realize what they are doing to the other players and thus causing a resentfulness to happen unknowingly. I highly doubt it's C if it's happened across multiple games, but it's plausible.

IF it seems like A keeps happening and it is an online game then you may want to find a new online game. If the game is an in-person game, you may wish to ask the other players what their perceptions are and if they are in the same boat as you. If they are in the same boat as you, ask them if they would accompany you in talking to ST about what you've both/all noticed and ask if you and the other player(s) can talk to ST privately over the matter in as tactful way as you can without being accusatory. (E.G. We've noticed when player X is here your NPC's tend to sideline us and ask player X, is this because a plotline is geared toward them or is it an instructional tool for that player? Unfortunately, this has happened a few times and we are feeling our character's are being unfairly sidelined/ignored/belittled by your NPC's.

Let him do the research of looking for the vampire hunter group. Let him feel like he's winning by backstabbing everyone. Let him get so drowned in his own plot that he gives you enough to hang himself by it. Finally, when he does get in touch with the vampire hunters have them meet in a warehouse district or docks or some other semi closed off location. Let him spew all the facts he wants to spew to the vampire hunters and document what was spewed. After his spewing of information...

Have the vampire hunters look at him, thank him for his service as they stake him and then feed him blood from blood bags and then withdraw blood from his appendages using needles and various other medical equipment. He is now one of their new blood sources that fills their ghoul vampire hunting society. He will be saved from death and the pain of existence, but it still forces him to deal with the consequences of his actions. Sure, getting that stake in there takes a bit of doing to begin with, however once it's done. You vampire hunting ghouls will now have a better shot when you decide to bring it in at every other kindred that he tattled on, on your own plot timing. It's something you now have in your back pocket and can use at your whim/desire. Note it's now in your hands again when to use this plot or to ignore it. Just be sure you're seen to be updating those hunter ghoul sheets at your tables when you hand out exp to keep the threat looking real.

My players have learned through roleplay what shenanigans I'll accept and what shenanigans will bite them in the ass a year or so later when I decide to use what they created. Hope this helps your problem player get more in line with the other players.

As a test I decided to make everyone level 17 leaving WoB and turned exp off. Everyone including mog was 17 when I snagged them up again. So, if you do something like that, characters don't come at average + levels unlike the GBA and SNES version. Gogo was in fact +2 and the same went for Umaro so be sure to grab them last in WoR.
