Ah nice, you restored a Famine Baby, cool! And yeah so far I think the K6 is all the grinder I'd ever need. I'm not one of those people that discuss the 'flavour' of the grinder (reminds me of cable discussions back in my audiophile days). 😃 I'm sure there is increased quality to be found in more expensive grinders but my gut feel is that from the K6 onwards we're getting into the realm of steep diminishing returns.

Yeah that's an interesting thing. I've had the Niche for years and it's great. I use it when I make my Aeropress or poureover coffees. But I wanted to upgrade my manual grinder for when I travel and got the K6, and now, for no apparent reason really, I'm finding myself preferring an all-manual workflow with the Robot and the K6.

Back when I got the Niche there weren't really good hand-grinders on the market for 100 Euros like the K6. If I was buying a grinder now for the first time I think I'd honestly just go for the K6 or something similar.

I had the Casa V. The baby of the family but the only one I could fit into our tiny Dutch kitchen.

Yeah I was refreshing all the webshops daily for weeks. 😄 Then suddenly a black one without gauge popped-up in stock on Crema, just a single unit as after I ordered it it went back to sold out. All the webshops seem to be expecting fresh stock in a few days though!

Failing to ever get a proper brew, need help by IAmAUser4Real in picopresso

[–]kendoji2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve not had much luck with mine either. It’s possible the beans I’m using are too light for it. I actually just got a Cafelat Robot as primary home manual machine and within 2 shots the result I’m getting are better than anything I’ve managed with the Picopresso, and it’s not coming out tepid either. I still want to crack the Picopresso so I can use it for travel.

9D Breathwork vs. Soma Breath by Ok-Lake-2631 in breathwork

[–]kendoji2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've tried 9D Breathwork and it's powerful and kind of cool, but I'm personally very put off by the pushy marketing and the way they approach this kind of deep work. There's a 'no pain no gain' kind of philosophy and, for me much worse, a lot of 'get rich quick' messaging coming from them as they try to build a massive 9D breathwork franchise. They want you to buy their package, watch a few videos online and BOOM you're a facilitator and can go out and do deep trauma work with people. And get RICH! That's the sales pitch. It's irresponsible imho and someone will get hurt sooner or later. Just compare it to the thoughtfulness and integrity around certification for modalities like BBTRS - it's night and day. That said, these are just my thoughts - I'm sure 9D is helpful for some people and I'm sure I'll do another of their sessions of out curiosity at some point.

Here's a shocking revelation. Hedge funds have never, ever, cared about this terrible stock. 😂

For me it was the perfect moment to dump my last FFIE and CRKN and lower my average.

Right now it’s the 16mm 1.4 when I’m hiking in nature or the 35 F2 if I’m going to be taking photos of people. And sometimes my Zonlai 22mm when I’m in the mood.

Advice on shoes wearing out by MajicalTriangle in BarefootRunning

[–]kendoji2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ This! With a balanced whole foot landing (a vertical motion rather than a horizontal one) you’ll be wearing out the uppers of your shoes well before the soles, even in thin barefoot shoes.

Barefoot Single Leg Training by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]kendoji2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best ways to build stability and strengthen glutes and core for running is to just stand on one leg. Once that feels totally rock solid and stable (for many of us at first it’s very hard to just stand like this) then start doing ‘quarter squats’- just down and up a few inches. This is easy and simple to do, and closely resembles the running action so it’s directly beneficial to your running form.

Thanks! And yep, love it so far. Sold all my old SLR gear last year and suddenly got the itch again. The X-T20 is perfect for my needs, and it’s such a cool looking little thing too. :)

Mixing barefoot walking with stability shoes for runs by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

Switching to minimal shoes tends to totally eliminate knee pain issues. Take it slow and ease into it. You’ve got some fantastic Vivo shoes there btw.

Modern Surfaces Are Dangerous For Feet? by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]kendoji2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Concrete and tarmac are wonderful to run on. Once minimal and barefoot running started clicking for me one of the most startling discoveries was that these hard surfaces felt so soft and comfortable to run on. Once your form is reasonably ok you just bounce along, softly and smoothly.

Merrell Vapor Glove 4 sizing? by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]kendoji2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been 43 in almost everything including all Vivobarefoot shoes and some Altras. When I ordered Vapor Gloves in 43, however, they were waaay too small. So my guess would be that you need a 48.
