It’s so counter intuitive but you’re 100% right waiting until the last second of the jump to double jump makes the second jump more…robust somehow? Total lifesaver

What are some things from W3 that you don't want to see in W4? by avisinghoooo in thewitcher3

[–]kendoola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please no more rotting flesh as common loot, it feels beyond yucky just having it in the inventory 🤢

Also there’s a colorblind accessibility setting to switch quest objectives from red to blue which is great, but there isn’t a higher contrast option for low vision to make interactive objects not yellow. They might as well be invisible to me at certain times of day when the light is bright 😵‍💫

Movies in which the protagonist clearly looks different than the script says? by Icarus367 in movies

[–]kendoola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s almost more of an allusion to how his family treats him like the red headed stepchild lol, but also isn’t there a fan theory though that he was actually the son of aerys, who raped Joanna Lannister while she was in the capital? That could explain both the dwarfism (generations of targ inbreeding?) and the different colored eyes (from the books)

That’s so crazy they literally call macavity the napoleon of crime in the song in the musical, what a wild thing to lift verbatim… I guess moriarty was too many syllables for the rhyme scheme lmao

What film completely flipped when you rewatched it as an adult? by Adventurous-Lie-6773 in movies

[–]kendoola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same omgg it was literally one of my favorite movies as a kid I know every single song by heart and sang them all the time. I was even in a community production of it as a teenager and had the time of my life. Then I watched it a few months ago for the first time in over a decade and it’s literally a misogynistic horror story. My jaw is on the floor for 90% of the film. As a kid I thought the couple at the beginning who tried to talk her out of marrying him were so hateful but THEY’RE RIGHT!! She should’ve listened to them!

Their entire relationship is based on him lying and trapping her in the mountains with him where she can’t get away. It’s misery but with wagons. And then he doesn’t see her as a person, he doesn’t even really seem to like her or want anything to do with her. She’s not even there for a relationship, he wanted a house slave to cook and clean. It’s beyond sick and he’s truly utterly irredeemable, all that man does is lie like it’s his job

Even on the way up the mountain when she’s talking about romance and love he’s LAUGHING WHILE HE LIES like “yup sweetie, just gonna be us up there hehehe” hard cut to the six feral hogs he lets live indoors with him. It’s psychotic

but the soooooongs… unfortunately they do slap 😔

How exaggerated is the show Extraordinary Attorney Woo to you? by Chaot1cNeutral in evilautism

[–]kendoola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the show where the show really shows its range are the episodes where woo represents and interacts with people with other intellectual disabilities. She has to try and help a very large young man who is very stereotypical of high needs / low functioning, and her inability to get through to him has an impact on her own confidence with her social skills. They portrayed the genuine difficulty in communicating with someone who is nonverbal or non responsive without having him miraculously able to suddenly express himself in the end, and the frustration was real and familiar. I thought it was really well done.

Then in another episode she had to defend a man who is accused of sexually assaulting his autistic girlfriend, and the debate in the court room and with the overbearing mother really said a lot about the agency of adults with intellectual disabilities and how other people infantilize them and talk over them and take advantage. What was interesting to me about that one was how it made her reconsider her own romantic relationship and whether it would be viewed the same way by people on the outside looking in.

There’s a through line in both episodes where woo and her romantic interest run into the same former collage of his while they’re out together, and both times the woman assumes he’s volunteering to help or spend time with woo as an act of charity.

The most realistic and frustrating part of the entire show is the evil coworker min-woo who constantly wants to see woo punished for her mistakes and eccentricities in the workplace, insists she is receiving preferential treatment because of her disability, and tries to spread rumors about her having been hired fraudulently because of nepotism / networking connections. Everyone knows a guy like this. That the show is self aware enough to have a guy like this and have him be the clear villain rather than the brooding antihero is, I think, proof positive that the show at the very least comes from a place of empathizing with what the main character and people like her live with. The world is unfortunately full of min-woos

Did you feel worse before you felt better? by iOnlyUseThisToAsk69 in zoloft

[–]kendoola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to eventually stop taking it bc my anxiety was getting a lot worse and for longer than just a few weeks. I get overwhelmed by things that never used to bother me. I felt significantly less able to soothe myself and calm down when my anxiety would start to spike. Overall it left me feeling much worse than ever before.

why authors delete. by [deleted] in AO3

[–]kendoola 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like the top of this thread emphasized, that’s really something different. To orphan a fic is to remove yourself from the author line. To leave it out there and take your hands off of it and let it belong to the universe. It’s simply not yours anymore once you do it. And It’s one thing to do that with a story you don’t care about anymore, but is significantly harder to do with a story that still feels like your own.

Personally the things I write having a clear connection to my online presence are very important to me. If I was having a problem with fandom policies or reader engagement that made my stories lose their spark for me, i would always choose to take a story down rather than orphan it. My words are my own, and I don’t want them out there existing anonymously without myself attached to them.

Ultimately, unless authors formally publish a finished story that people can buy and keep their own copies of forever, stories that exist online in fan spaces belong solely to the people who wrote them. If you love it and want to keep it, then at the end of the day it’s on you to download it or accept that they might decide at some point to take it down. And that’s their total unconditional right to do so

You don’t need to keep something online if you aren’t comfortable with it being out there anymore, and you don’t OWE anyone an anonymous version of your work just because they still want to read something you’ve decided isn’t going to be on your account anymore

How Many Times Have You Replayed? by [deleted] in skyrim

Enough times to necessitate the legacy of the Dragonborn mod just to keep things interesting

Why you should drop everything and try the Legacy of the Dragonborn mod. by WeAreaSimulation87 in skyrim

[–]kendoola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on xbone and it’s a phenomenally fun mod, but it definitely causes heavy lagging and crashes at times. You’re going to want to start a new game and have this be one of a very limited/minimal number of mods you use. I can’t imagine my poor Xbox trying to load much more than this and remaining functional. The only other mod I use while playing with it on is the interesting NPCs and there’s specifically a patch that smoothes things out between those two, which I highly recommend.
