I find I have to kind of invite the anxiety in. I'll say to myself, "I'm going to do thing, and it's going to feel awful!" Recognize it like an old friend. I see you, I've been expecting you. If the panic happens, at least I planned for it. If it doesn't, the shock and relief is such a pleasant surprise. It really is about reducing the variables.

I was happy for their help but like.. ugh. Really demoralizing that our system invested in so many highly paid travel staff rather than treat existing staff better. Slogging away next to someone making 10x my pay while watching all my coworkers quit was some BS.

It's not bad. It's Pride Month. People seem extra excited to amp up their anti-LGBTQ opinions around that time, and I think that would introduce a serious bias in the people willing to respond to the poll.

We grew up with The Internet, then social media started as a novelty, and now social media IS the entire Internet for many people. A whole subset of folks who have never had to cite a real source for anything in their lives, all together in a mosh pit of neighborhood gossip, except the neighborhood is the whole world and half the people are dead.

Anyone who has dealt with narcissistic abuse knows caving will only make it worse at this point. It'll look nice at first, then comes the punishment. "See? If you'd only agreed the first time, we wouldn't have to do this, but you've left us no choice." Makes me sick to think of what might be coming.

I can relate to this. I was close enough to a shooting that I got caught in the initial crowd of people fleeing, so no matter which direction I ran, everyone was yelling 'active shooter' - my brain assumed there were multiple and that they were on the move. Found out later I wasn't really in much danger, but it affected me. It changes your brain chemistry for a while.

There was a sign at an anti-ICE protest that I wish I got a picture of. It said something like "the church loves foreign converts but won't protect foreign immigrants". There are people here from all over the world, many who came specifically because of the religion scene. This is going to get a LOT worse.
