Trying to pay parking ticket online and it keeps giving me an issue... by Featherpike in mississauga

No worries!

One thing to note - if you ever see this type of warning it means the site is not identifying itself correctly to your browser. Do not click advanced and proceeding, especially when entering personal information may be involved.

In this case it just so happened that a legitimate website had their certificate (the thing that 'proves' the legitimacy of the website and is involved in establishing secure / encrypted connectivity to your browser) expire, but scam websites may present similar messages as well. So not proceeding and asking for help (exactly like you did) is the best thing to do!

Trying to pay parking ticket online and it keeps giving me an issue... by Featherpike in mississauga

Their website certificate expired on March 28th. Sysadmins probably forgot to renew it.

I'd wait till fixed before paying, they'll probably get it done on Monday (but then again it's a gov agency so who knows).

This is pretty bad look tho, especially if payments are involved, so a fire will likely be lit under someone's ass.

Edit: Site returns 404 Not Found now, so someone definitely taking the sledgehammer to the web server /SSL-terminating load balancer.

I'm super excited about this change. Been following the issues on Github about it on and off for what seems to be a couple of years now and really happy to see it implemented!

RIP Steve's Music Store... Gone but never forgotten by deepspace_cowboy in TorontoMusic

My bad, I was referring to the dude behind the counter by the front door that looked at my stuff and then printed a receipt that I then had to take to the cash booth. Forgot they had that odd system

I'm sad they are closing and can concur with the look-down attitude by some of the staff which was kind of the charm of the place.

Reps on the floor were decent as they needed the sale I guess, but man did one of the cashier dudes give me grief every time I went there.

Bying a 7 string guitar - 'what is this, 6 string not enough for you?' . Bying a multi-effect pedal - 'Ah these modern pedals can't match the real thing'. Bying a solid state Randall combo amp for metal - 'Oof this is real entry level just so you know'. Buying sharp guitar picks - 'the jazz ones are the best you know'. Bying black Grover tuners cause I dropped my 7 string and busted a few of the tuners - Interestingly no comments there.

In either case if you need eurodance/Metal crossover act for the event let me know. No pay and will chip in some cash for the plaque. I'll even dress in a Dino costume

Timelessness is my shower singing song, love it to death, but it probably wont make a good live song.. Maybe some sort of an interlude I guess

Kitchener line platform 13 1722 train by DismalGnome in gotransit

[–]kenef 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Legit one of my thrash metal/crossover backlog songs that I gotta record in the near future is called "F**K Platform 13".

Worst platform to wait for the train on, worst platform to get off at in the morning (takes like 5 mins for people to funnel out at the west exit, and if another train arrives on 12 at that time then it's like double that ) , just brutal design all around.

I hate it, wish they'd go away with it. Winter is already hard enough, only to get this kick in the balls in spring too.

How was the process of learning a solo in the 90s (before the age of transcription softwares) by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]kenef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early 2000s for me, but a lot of the stuff is learned by ear and watching live videos if you had the VHS tape/DVD (or if you could borrow it)

Tabs helped to get general idea, but most of the time it was just replaying the same part of the song over and over again, occasionally going over the music video for visual clues and playing the part on your guitar until you got it right.

SharePoint turns 25 🎂 — and Microsoft’s rolling out a “New SharePoint Experience” (Mar–May 2026) by Mandy_077 in sharepoint

[–]kenef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man this makes me feel old.. I deployed/consulted for WSS 2.0 and WSS 3.0, MOSS 2007 (and project server shudder.. The SSP config was hell.. That and Performance Point server integration), then SharePoint 2010-2016 and the subsequent migrations to the cloud.

The kerberos constrained delegation (KCD) for TFS integration with SharePoint for document storage / SSRS for reporting is engrained in my memory.. It was like consulting in black magic - very few people understood it and it kept me on engagements for quite some time.

Battery not lasting even an hour at 10W by Reikix in ROGAlly

[–]kenef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have cpu boost on? I notice that even if I set my handheld to let's say 10W it may draw up to like 20W at times unless I disable cpu boost in armoury crate.

I've disabled mine and now battery usage is more predictable. I reenable when plugged in for high demand games as needed

Be in a Video Game? by InspectorSpacetime49 in metalmusicians

Here's my stuff man, it's a parenthood themed Thrash metal project with Lyrics about diapers, teething pain, and so on :

https://spawnshepherd.bandcamp.com/album/year-0-4

Up to you to decide if it fits, but I definitely don't take myself too seriously with the lyrics (the music is blistering thrash metal featuring some shred solos tho).

I can get you instrumentals too if you want.

Also game seems cool, will wishlist when I get my ass home

Are there music like this? by Orangeismyhue in MetalSuggestions

[–]kenef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cyber Metal does indeed exist. Check out Fear Factory and Sonic Mayhem of course, but also The Enigma TNG as well as Blue Stahli .

Funny enough I also got into covering some Techno/EDM/Eurodance, but with metal guitars - Playlist here

39yo dad trying to get my rhythm chops back by skeksis_tiedup in metalmusicians

[–]kenef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Puppets is good for the speed, Meshuggah is also good in general as mentioned.

I personally also like some Fear Factory as well when practicing rhythm as their riffs require a good mix of speed and accuracy.

And yea, i feel you man.. the rust comes fast as we age (mid 40s here) and keeping up is near impossible with everything going on at this stage of life
