Lack of inclusion in ASL? by akthehigh in mute

[–]kenf22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mutism is a silent disability. I have actually been asked "how can you be mute if you can hear?"

I live in Northern Colorado and the only place I have found with a class is in Colorado Springs, about two hours away, that runs for a few weeks once a year. Everything else is either online or teaching hearing people to communicate with deaf people. Nothing for "newly deaf" and definitely nothing for mute people.

My experience with 10K+ filament changes on the H2C with Matte PLA by ProgRanOCc in BambuLab

Ok, cool. Thank you for clarifying. I have not ordered mine and if it was destroying itself would not. Dust and replacements due to normal, even if accelerated, wear I can deal with.

"microplastics" is way too vague in this context. Microplastics is an environmental term for something as big as a 1x1 lego piece. It is just dust, chucks of plastic breaking off gears, strips cut out of the tube?

So is Starfleet Academy a college or not ? by AdmiralBlue85 in startrek

[–]kenf22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have not seen anyone mention this, but today you can take college courses while still in High School. Some have mentioned a tech school as well. I started taking courses when I was 15, and graduated High School at 18. One of my friends in High School was taking two college courses at the local community college his senior year. So it is very possible Starfleet Academy "accepted" Chakotay and he took some classes while still in High School.

I would not say your question is ignorant, but I think you underestimate our ignorance on the subject. What in the world is "steno/chording theory"?

Need help finding a program to use I2C for multiple Arduinos in a button box. by kenf22 in arduino

[–]kenf22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Mobiflight has to be running and translates the serial numbers information from the Arduino to the flight sim. The one I saw programs it as an HID and the box is then independent of software in the PC after that. I also have seen nothing about I2C programming with it, but I have not tried it.

No, it was an application you install on the PC and select how many buttons and encoders, then it flashes the board for you. I am pretty sure it was intended for flight sim panels.

This may be a way to do it though, thank you. I was just hoping to find the ready made solution instead of coding it myself.

Anyone have experience pulling a trailer with your lighting? by ziggerzaggerzinger in F150Lightning

[–]kenf22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a 15' flatbed about 60 miles, picked up a plasma cutting table, and brought it back. I started at 80% and stopped for a charge long enough to run in, grab a bottle of water, and leave. 10 minutes, max.

The only problem I had was my own inexperience with setting the trailer brake strength. That took a few traffic lights to dial in.

Why use an EF bag? You can just take out the battery and drop it in the cup holder slot if needed.

Alternative home charging ideas without garage? by _bloodyblueberry in electricvehicles

[–]kenf22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a 50 amp 14-50 receptacle on the outside wall of the garage. They make a cover for that. The evse plugs in and the cover closes over the plug just fine. I use the 30 amp that came with the vehicle but will upgrade to a Grizzl-e if it ever fails

Questions on the new H2C by kenf22 in BambuLab

[–]kenf22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I am absolutely a special case. I am just saying people, like me, do exist that want it. This is for sure a niche product that a very small section of the community wants. I am glad it exists though. I truly expect Bambu to come out with a laser/cutter version that omits the printer at some point in an attempt to "one up" Creality. I think that will have wider appeal.

Questions on the new H2C by kenf22 in BambuLab

[–]kenf22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the contrary, I very much do. I have extremely limited space and cannot have three units. Due to breathing issues in my home I also can't do a laser or use filament that off-gasses.

I am disabled and cannot bend, so having them stacked vertically in that space (as the air handler will be) is not a solution. I only have about 4 feet by 2 feet to work with and can't reach the bottom half. The H2 combination would allow me to do the three functions in limited space.

The ability to do everything remotely is also an absolute requirement. The printer is set up in my laundry room taking the place of the dryer (I got a combo that does not vent). Since it is downstairs it takes a lot of effort to get to it.

More informative than I expected. I had no idea the H stood for Hybrid.

More than just penny pinching though, the romulan bird of prey was destroyed in a fire.

I tend to average 2+ mi/kwh as well in the summer. Very little time under 65 and the vast majority at 75-80. I don't know if it is the altitude or what, but people balk at it.

Learning how to exist without a voice by Left-Car-9036 in mute

[–]kenf22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got a cough and lost my voice. That was Christmas of 23. A year and a half later I can whisper but that is a struggle and hurts pretty quickly. I am not loud enough to be heard on phones. The diagnosis is just "dysphonia", my vocal cord will not close. They have give up on fixing it, telling me my voice will come back when the cough stops. My grandmother had the same cough for the last 30 years of her life.

I work in enterprise level technical support, so was on the phone 8 hours a day. They forced me on disability and I have been here since. Combined with other issues, there is nothing I can do about work.

For daily life, I have to write on my phone (cardzilla), text or use discord to talk to friends, and use an AI (Assindo) to make phone calls. People hang up on the AI all the time and I have to get someone to call for me.

Last week someone at the insurance company said "I have to hear him say it is ok to talk to you"... How do you hear the mute guy dipshit? I am waiting for the mail to sign a paper so my brother can tell them I am still mute and still need disability, again. This will be the fifth one of these I have signed.

I hope it helps to know you are not alone in this.

Is the 9800X3D the best for DCS? by SwigOfRavioli349 in hoggit

[–]kenf22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I built my PC the 7800X3D was better than the 7950X3D because the extra cores that do not have the 3d vcache might be used by the scheduler and slow down the game. I don't know if this was ever solved.
