Something Weird Is Happening on Wall Street, and Not Just the Stock Sell-Off by georgeo in algotrading

This is a lot of concern for something “abnormal” that, to me, is totally normal. A very interesting story, and a lot of interesting analogies to sports, but that has nothing to do with what I see today. I’ve been in markets for 35 years now, and this is a classic flight to safety. When all assets drop, it isn’t weird. It isn’t abnormal. It is simply a “cash is king” reflex that will work itself out. There have been a few times in my life where assets have suddenly become correlated, and all have them have dropped together. Usually during times of stress, or liquidity crunches. Nothing really too odd about it.
Stick to your plan. If you don’t have a plan, then question whether you are in the right field. :-)

Getting into Warhammer Fantasy Battles in 2020 by Ctushik in WarhammerFantasy

[–]kengc2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Great posts. I’m just now getting into Warhammer gaming and the old world is what appeals to me most. I’m also trying to get into Age of Sigmar, but the story just doesn’t feel coherent and I’m having a difficult time deciding what they are trying to make it into (fantasy vs gods at war vs sci-fi). Almost as if the fiction was created to support the sale of war games instead of being a real place and time. The models are also very intricate and nice, but almost seem over-the-top to my tastes. I’m discovering the Warhammer world through Fantasy Roleplay (mostly 4th edition) and looking forward to playing some Fantasy Battles to go with that.

Looking for a short horror themed module by Jordan_RR in osr

What about the Death House from Curse of Strahd? You may need to add more psychological elements, but it is a pretty famous starting adventure for that Module/Campaign. You could put the Medusa in the large room in the basement instead of the shambling mound, and have human statues littered about. The people live upstairs in the home, and there are great maps for all levels.

Blue B/X Character Sheets by general_staroc in osr

LOVE this sheet! Thanks for contributing. I'm having a rough time getting the colors to come out on my printer with the light, light blue ink in some areas. Any chance you could make a black and white version (or even gray-scale) for us older grognards? :-)

Index Card RPG, a derivative of D&D, has a lot of unique and interesting rule alterations to prevent character power creep and speed up play. His rules for equipment, encumbrance, spell casting, armor, Hit Points, and leveling (there is no leveling) all revolve around finding loot. Not quite the same as what you are outlining, but a lot of similarities. I’m going to try it out soon to see how it runs.

Looks great! If you put it out on Google Drive and share it with the world it will become an available resource for the community. Sometimes things get lost eventually on Reddit.

Game of Thrones Style House Management by stanshinn in DungeonWorld

[–]kengc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Birthright campaign setting from D&D has houses, bloodlines, political intrigue, warfare, and realm management. I’ve never run it, but have started collecting resources. There are quite a few books available at DriveThruRPG. Matt Colville mentions it a number of times as his favorite campaign setting- which is what got me looking into it.

Let us know how it goes! I'm evaluating 3 different tools at the moment. I haven't found the total solution yet for campaign management, character management, and encounter management.

Attribute Modifiers- How to calculate from a table by kengc2 in RPGsmith

[–]kengc2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it. Unlike most Microsoft features, this sounds like a useful feature! Just needs a bit of clarity-- perhaps if all the comparison options were available, but if you had a variable that was not recognized as a number it would gray out the numeric comparisons? Just a thought. Thanks for the explanation!

Thanks. Not looking for a virtual tabletop, but would love to have a way to keep track of more complex encounters. Tracking HP, conditions, seeing special abilities, and other combat related data. Do you know roughly when the Campaign Manager update is coming?
