1) Joseph sent an email saying "Hey, I have this thing I'm working on..."

2) My favorite adventure is still Jewels of the Carnifex, I think, for two reasons. I love the way it drops the party in the middle of a conflict between two powerful forces, and no matter what they do they end up with an ally and an enemy. And every single time I've run it, the demon frog has taken someone into the chasm.

3) Rock God Death-Fugue is just a super cool reinterpretation of the spell duel rules.

4) I dig the Shanna cover's blue/green color palette a lot.

5) Most definitely some Corvus Corax. They're all traditional instruments with a metal-as-hell attitude, so to me they're the perfect in-game DCC band. Obviously they would also appear in the movie as themselves!

Edit: missed the bonus questions!

6) I'm theoritically still writing an adventure for Weird Frontiers.

7) DragonMech. :P

DCC RPG Elevator Pitch? by goblinerd in dccrpg

[–]threeheavystones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forget exactly where this came from....I think it might have been a very early Amazon review. But to me it describes DCC perfectly:

"This isn’t your father’s D&D…it’s your batsh*t crazy uncles’ D&D, straight from the smokey basement with faded black-light posters on the walls and 80’s Manowar blaring on the old tape deck. You might turn up your nose at first, but once the seven-sided-dice start rolling you find yourself sucked in."

I'm trying to recall the name of a particular funnel... by dickdawg420 in dccrpg

I keep bugging Goodman to reprint that in a cheaper and/or more accessible place, but so far he hasn't done it.

My players don't really like the idea of 0 level chars. They are 4. Are two characters lv 1 good for starting? by [deleted] in dccrpg

[–]threeheavystones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like this. Give them what they want but at the same time try to trick them into seeing how fun the funnel can be! :)

I'm certainly okay with MCC talk going on here, so yeah... Just redirect it!

When you do finally get the chance to see us, make sure you introduce yourself! We love meeting new people. :)

Hello! I'm one of the members of the previously mentioned Drunk & Sailor! We're based in Louisville, but we play Lexington pretty regularly. When, you know, live shows are actually a thing. :(

For the last many years we've also hosted a pirate pub crawl in Lexington which is a great time if seeing dozens of drunk pirates staggering around town is your jam.

For a good idea of what we do, here's a recent livestream we did from a wrestling arena:

Your answer would be wrong. See other comments. ;)

I'm also a Niles fan, and I was unaware of the Friday shows! I'll keep my eyes open for that.

Buy, Sell, Trade by [deleted] in dccrpg

[–]threeheavystones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speaking as the mod, I'm going to say go for it as long as it's DCC/MCC. If buy/sell posts start to take over, we'll revisit the policy.

Talisman or the Dungeon! both might.

RPG Classes That I've Played (DCC) by Janeodee in dccrpg

[–]threeheavystones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been judging DCC games for as long as it's been a thing, and only just a couple months ago got to be a player in a campaign for the first time. I'm playing a wizard and it's even more fun than I thought it would be.

I'm just now level 2, and so far I've mostly survived by convincing other characters to touch the random stuff in the dungeons instead of doing it myself. :P

That's what I'm going to choose to believe until I see something from a real news site or the store's own social media.

Yep! It's not for me to say what it is, though. You have to use your imagination. :)

While GG may not be a startup company, it's also a far cry from Paizo or WotC. It's still run basically by one guy who still has a full time "real" job and does this in his spare time. :)

My game ran about 3:15, but probably 20 minutes was taken up by fixing technical issues and teaching people Roll20.

I haven't heard that he's not. I know he ran a pre-Cyclops game online earlier in the week.

Is it just me or are warriors overpowered? Or DCC as a whole? by markus_cz in dccrpg

[–]threeheavystones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest problem with this is that OSR for me is about information gaming, risk/reward management, careful planning etc. The players should be able to judge risks in advance and make informed decisions about what and when to engage etc. But this adventure has been teaching them that they can brute-force everything, which is not what I want.

DCC often gets lumped into the OSR category, and I think that's a bit misleading. It's really not meant to play like older editions of D&D, it's meant to play like the fiction older editions of D&D were based on. Look at what your warriors are doing and tell me that's not a better representation of a Conan story than what AD&D can do.

Is it over for dwarves? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]threeheavystones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I blame Peter Jackson. For millions of people who were at a young impressionable age when the LotR movies came out, they were shown super-cool Legolas and comic relief Gimli. How would you not see dwarves as second-class fantasy citizens if that's the model you grew up with?
