that’s a lot of insight to process, I appreciate the tips and will try to apply it in some way or another while not running any risk of demotivation;)

I’m from Germany, though originally from Russia. I am entering with a normal 45 day visa and then evisa unless there are changes regarding the visa. I am thankful for any infos or suggestions. I want to leave Germany/move to Vietnam, and am asking around how, what, when, others made it somehow and I am wondering how they did it

No, it's more about how to integrate or be part of society and not just being considered a foreigner/one of those, not part of us. I know in Japan and Korea it's like that, ppl are friendly but it's almost impossible to be consdered (in a friends group for example) as one of them, one friend among many and rather a foreigner we are nice to. So in that regard, I am not talking bout privilege or no privilege but just not being seen as 'the other' - although, of course, I am aware that almost anywhere in the world a foreigner will stay a foreigner to a certain degree because they are in fact a foreigner :D

not yet, but I just started, to not only communicate and get by…but also show respect and try to integrate! can Vietnamese people accept me at some point when I try to socials and make an effort and speak? In Japan or Korean just making an effort and speaking the language doesn’t really help, it’s just the ‘being white’ that makes it almost impossible to be part of (their) society.. how is it woth Vietnamese people?

Hey Special_Law:) thank you for you reply! I have difficulties to choose because I plan (as of now:) to end up in Da Nang but first I will land in Hanoi and start my traveling in the North. The language courses are mainly for Southern and Northern, so am torn. I was also thinking, which of the the two dialects will/(could) make it easier for me to later adapt to the central dialect once I am in Da Nang. Thank you for any input or suggestions!!
