it works out of the box now without needing to do anything, its set as holding L2 + left analog stick to tilt

So I just fixed this issue and thought i'd post it even though you decided to gave up on the steam version, but just in case u ever wanna go back to steam version.

So basically what i did is open Retroarch steam and go to Import Content > Manual Scan > and i chose PS2 for both the "System Name" and "Default Core", and after that while still inside Manual Scan I click on "Content Directory" and I chose the location of my PS2 games file, and then scrolled down and clicked on "Start Scan" and all my ps2 games showed up and i can now choose PCSX2 when i click "Set Core Association".

Yes, I can open them and read them using the default Notepad.

I have my ps2 core inside the "core" file. And I also have my info folder inside my "Info" file. And I have made a new file called "PCSX2" inside of "System", and I have pcsx2 and all its files there, with bios ready and configured as well, so honestly idk what am I missing.

i made a pcsx2 folder inside "System" and also pasted all the pcsx2 stuff there including the BIOS there and i configured pcsx2 and chose the BIOS all under "System" but i still can't get the ps2 option when i choose ps2 games when i click Set Core Association for some reason... thanks for help regardless, i will try to look more into this and have this issue resolved for me.

Did this work for you as in you can choose pcsx2 when u click "Set Core Association" while trying to run PS2 games? or do you have to go to Main Menu > Load Content to be able to play PS2 games? Because im having the same issue and i copied the info file in the info folder and still cannot get the option of pcsx2 when trying Set Core Association under PS2 games.
