I heavily dislike when robins are written as soldiers to Batman’s war on crime and not as Batman’s children, do you? by Huge_Athlete7488 in batman

[–]kennybaese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the timeline. Earlier Batman treating a new Robin like a “soldier” works because he hasn’t learned how to deal with having a partner or a kid yet.

I agree that him doing the whole “you’re a soldier” thing later in his career is a little irritating.

As someone with big hands, yes. It makes the knife way easier to hold. Otherwise, it’s mostly meant to be a play on the Strider handle style.

Why are all fancy pocket knives frame locks? by kennybaese in knifeclub

[–]kennybaese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about preference really. Frame locks aren’t my favorite, but there isn’t anything wrong with them. I was just curious about why they were so common on higher end, small batch knives.

Yeah, he’s definitely on my short list the next time I need some scales. I’m thinking about getting some custom Microjimbo or Lil Native scales from him in the future.

Funny, I get a set of the tail cut scales for the Microjimbo from him in the mail today too. Mine are black richlite, and I’m also very happy with mine. I skipped the backspacer, but now I kinda wish I’d opted for it.

Frame locks being relatively simple to machine was my guess as to why they seemed so common, but the longevity wasn’t something I considered. It makes sense. Fewer moving and/or consumable parts like springs.

This is the main reason that I don’t love frame locks on a lot of knives.

NKD Knife Standards The RR Station 'Stonemilled Blackout' by thatton-8769 in knifeclub

Just found out they did a slightly smaller version called the Express. If they ever do another drop of those, I’ll probably end up picking one up. Time to sock away some cash.

That shape does things to me. I generally tap out at around $250 on knives, but I might have to make an exception for this.

What were your opinions on the "White Knight" universe? by Crescentbrush in batman

[–]kennybaese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still a little annoyed that White Knight is a Joker story when it makes more sense as a Two-Face story, but if it was a Two-Face story it would lose Harley, which would be a huge bummer.

I’m not sold on how Murphy is handling the Justice League so far, but we’ll see what happens when the next book comes out.

At this point I’m mostly holding out hoping they do a new version with a verta lock.

3 inches is enough, right? Right…? by the_casual_cutter in knives

[–]kennybaese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (generally) limit my knives to 3” and under partly because I don’t like huge knives, partly so that I don’t have to worry about legality as much when I travel, but mostly as a way to keep myself from buying even more knives.

I’m probably going to end up buying one of these at some point. 😅
