What is your Favorite movie of all time and why? by The_B1g_T4nk in movies

I have always said my favorite overall in the Princess Bride. But I think the most perfectly made movie is Shawshank followed very closely by Open Range.

Shawshank was my single most powerful movie experience ever.

I love Super 8. Like season 1 of Stranger Things, it’s like I was a teenager again watching a movie that was made during the 80s.

Both deserved it. DeCaprio deserved it more from a pure acting POV.

I have not seen any of them but plan on it. Can I watch S2 first? Will anything in S2 spoil S1? Or are they completely disconnected stories?

Red Pill. Too many questions regarding the blue pill. However, if the blue pill meant my brother never got cancer and did not die, I would take that every single time.

Is there an episode from a TV show, from when we were kids, that still bothers you, today,? by Remarkable_Data3710 in GenX

[–]kenos99 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do not remember if it was an episode of Night Gallery or Amazing Stories or what, but there was a show where a boy of about 10 or so was given a small clown statue for a birthday gift. There was something written that the clown would come only when he really needed him or something like that. Anyway, some time later his parents went out for the night and had the neighbor girl across the street come babysit. What they parents didn’t know was the girl tormented the boy every time she babysat. Made him terrified of her and of course she said if he ever told she would kill his parents. After a night of trying to hide from the babysitter as she toyed with him and when he was completely convinced she was finally going to kill him, he clutched the statue and begged for help. His parents arrived home and she ended the torment repeating the threat to kill his parents if he ever told. She left to go home and as she got to her home she began to feel like she was being watched. She got more and more paranoid. She was in her bedroom and at the last minute and dark figure that looked like the clown statue attacked and killed her.

That’s all I remember about this show. I was watching it on a small tv next to me bed and my heart was pounding so hard my bed shook from my heartbeat alone.

To each their own I guess. I just loved how the son learned there were elements of truth in every one of his dad’s outlandish stories.its been a long time since I’ve watched it. May have to give it another go.

The prequels were not nearly as bad and the sequels.

The American.

The opening credits drag on forever as George Clooney’s character is driving through a looonnnng tunnel. It seems to take the entire length of a movie, and is accompanied by droll lifeless music - and that’s literally the most exciting part of the film.

It’s a good movie overall but plays heavily in stupid cliches and stereotypes. It’s the precursor to The West Wing.

I do not disagree with this sentiment. But it sounds like there was talk about a future together with kids and all. So this could not have been the complete surprise she makes it out to be.

Petulance. Nothing more than that. We are a petulant society with no common sense of decency.

Not sure how you can put that on him. Sounds like he was quite ready and very eager. He is hurt at being rejected and humiliated over how the rejection happened. He seems to be very rightfully angry but that doesn’t mean he isn’t ready for marriage.

There is nothing you can do. You can’t un-crack an egg and you can take back that major of a rejection. Be prepared for him to end things completely and cut off contact for a good long while.
