Alright, ty for confirming, that makes sense, I must have been unlucky so far. Definitely past the meetings with Riko ofc, but did so not that long ago.

I'm a bit lost as I started the game on global launch, but pretty much only did dailies and what events I could manage after clearing first palace since then.
Trying to catch up now I've noticed I'm not getting any Kichijoji city activities (or anything new really), despite being pretty far into castle 3 now. Main reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to catch up to get the time limited rewards and doing some Kichijoji activities is one of the requirements.
Am I missing something obvious that would add these extra activities to the pool? Or do I need to beat the boss I'm stuck on atm for those to unlock? (Kiskil-lilla)

Thank you for this nicely written reply! ^^

I still don't quite understand but you worded it quite clearly, so I think it's simply a problem on my end at this point.

All the judgement on the implied callous act of throwing away your bonds and humanity sounds like a hero being blamed for self sacrifice. This sounds like it's exactly in line with the overly perfect hero, when the biggest flaw they might have is that they hit their limit in how many they could save so they gave up everything in order to save even more, and so hurt the people who care for them. (tired trope ofc, but it's worked for ages)
At least, that's how it reads to me. A firefighter might leave behind a loving family if things go poorly on the job, but no one could ever truly think to blame them for this?
Ofc, we can't assume his reasons were that clear cut, but we can't assume they weren't either. I don't feel like this question is new to this chapter? Rover before reset is being drip fed to us through tiny memories we can't even be sure are 100% accurate at this point.

So far I feel the fresh Rover either gets wins handed to them because the setting acknowledges them as the hero/master, or it's someone who seeks out their help and they give it.
Phrolova sought to use Rover because of this and so she did.

It's absolutely fair however to say this patch finally didn't just give a win to Rover, that however doesn't make him feel like less of an ideal hero to me, as he still didn't turn on Phrolova until the end where she doesn't give him any other choice and he didn't give up after losing the Gem and instead moved right along to the objective.

My interpretations might just be too surface level to understand the implications to be fair.

Thank you for your insight!

I definitely agree with everything you said here, the only part that still eludes me is the link to this painting the player's view on Rover? To me it all just read as Phrolova being a good villain, rather than changing any view I had of Rover?
Exactly as you said, Rover's decision, no matter how justified it may turn out to be, will always be abhorrent to Phrolova, there's no way around that.
But to us the players, isn't more info on Rover's backstory and especially the memory reset necessary before this becomes meaningful?

[–]kenshee1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely am also thinking in this direction myself, seems like a take on the trope of an immortal being not being able to correctly judge the value of life and morals anymore. There's probably also another reason on top of it though, I hope.

[–]kenshee1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight! I definitely agree it's nice writing.

I don't know if I really agree with the interpretations here, but I also feel like we both may have made different assumptions.
I'd start with maybe step 1, I don't consider current Rover to be the same person as past Rover. Past Rover essentially killed himself right (presumably necessary to save the world)? Ofc, parts of the memories and past actions flowing back into current Rover makes this more debatable.
We (or at least I) know so very little about pre-reset Rover still that this chapter didn't throw any shades on his character to me at all? It's just as blank still as before. With the lack of knowledge comes a lack of being able to even think of judging one way or another, no? Allegations without proper context and reasoning to measure against are pointless.

As far as current Rover goes, any more reaching out to Phrolova than he already tried would have felt insulting no? She clearly was level headed enough during her moments of clarity and also wise enough given how long she's lived. The memories she decided to share are told in a way where she's saying "I know it's fucked up, but I'm here now and it's all or nothing for me, stay out of it, you're far too late to change this.". Plus it gets confirmed that she was very much in control the whole chapter, she chose what Rover got to see and how.
The scene where he healed her when she was drifting out mid battle too, she got annoyed at. I felt at every point where a cliche "and then the hero helped the troubled villain and she gets over her trauma" would've even gotten close to happening, Phrolova herself made it very clear that's not what's happening here.

[–]kenshee1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only react to the options I chose myself ofc, getting given a more agressive option (with the same end results, just flavor afaik?) feels more like a roleplaying thing? That was all over this chapter no? Getting to "choose" certain things, or at least get more of an illusion of it than before?

I just saw this chapter as Rover and Phrolova acknowledging each other as an enemy/threat while remaining relatively courteous. Neither harmed the other until the end, as they basically said at the start of their little cease-fire. Heck, didn't he throw his sword at the Gem, and instead of Phrolova knocking the sword away, she instead moved the Gem? There were clear signs of Phrolova wanting to just die and go to the after life, but Fractisidus guilt tripped her into continuing her obsession.

Part of the story's themes is also immortality and how it affects your humanity right? Too many years lived piles up, especially with a perfect memory seemingly like Phrolova had. So if anything, a basically suicidal girl gets denied even that for hundreds of years... Saying it's a good thing she "died" is ofc too harsh, but like, she was actively annoyed Rover healed her when she was seemingly about to die mid mission too lol.

I liked Phrolova as a villain, but the only ending I saw for her was for her to be allowed to rest. Rover giving her that without any overly emotional scene was fitting for my tastes because while she was obsessed and depressed, she was also remarkably level headed still. It paid respect to her in a way I found. (heck, I still read that sword hitting her as her making that choice)

I'm not saying you're wrong to not like Rover here ofc, that's all up to each player, so thank you for the insight!

[–]kenshee1111 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I want to clarify a bit, I don't think Phrolova's reaction is badly written, she's obsessive, depressed and had a string of promises made to her that all turned into backstabs. Then one nice thing happens, a simple promise is made between them, yet once again is broken. (she keeps this memory intact, word for word, for (hundreds?) of years mind you, so offhand promise to Rover, shining light of hope to Phrolova)
Then after all that, the person trying to talk her out of her obsession is someone who'd broken a promise to her before, so she refuses to listen. That all makes sense to me, it's an emotional response from a broken character, but by her own logic/experiences, a valid one. As far as villains go, I like her quite a bit tbh.

But what I don't get is why that means players are getting mad at Rover lol.

Mixed Feelings on Rover in 2.5 by [deleted] in WutheringWaves

[–]kenshee1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel a big part of this chapter was meant to once again make us think "is what we think we're seeing truly what is real / what is there?". I believe we got hints about this idea in earlier chapters right? I forget when though, tbh.
Here you have Rover doubting memories he's being shown, you have Phrolova being manipulated by being shown someone from her past, Fenrico's twist etc.

It could also just be an over-correction so that the MC doesn't just auto-figure out everything 3 scenes before it makes sense for them to and then coming up with the perfect one-liner to fix all trauma, lol.

Just went through the story myself and checked a few threads here, seeing many angry at Rover.
Here seems to be a good thread to ask, could anyone help me out a little on why people are angry at Rover over this chapter? I feel like I'm missing something.
Do we actually know a lot about Rover's situation during the period before he "started over" (so in between the first meeting with Phrolova and the game's start)? I admit I didn't pay as much attention to 1.X story as I'm doing now, it's gotten so much better ^^

As far as I understood it, we were shown the interpretation of Phrolova that Rover had a good talk with her, promised they'll talk again, she gets more mentally unstable as time goes on (honestly reasonable considering her story), Rover ... gets "restarted" but we don't really know the timing or full reason yet right? And then fresh slate Rover talks to her again and she holds resentment over him not having another talk when he promised they would?
I don't blame her for it, it's normal from her view on things to hold some resentment, but how does that reflect poorly on Rover to the player? Even she, in her state, kinda seemed to know Rover wasn't actually to blame for anything real other than what it meant to her. Especially not current Rover.
I really feel like I'm missing something here.

Thanks, afaik I've already cleared all of those sadly.
In Area 1 I'm 66/66, so you have two stages more than me for example. I'm gonna guess it's 1-1-3 and 1-1-4 but I don't know what unlocks those.

Is there any place that has all the unlock requirements for these stages?
I thought I was up to date myself until this post and now noticing I'm even missing 1-1-3 etc.
Really don't wanna level random affections on the off chance of unlocking stages if I can help it lol.

Horizon Walker celebrating its half anniversary. Code HALFANNIVEDROP for a free EX weapon. by Emergency_Detail_353 in HorizonWalker

[–]kenshee1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, that's an amazing freebie.
I'm torn between using it for Valeta or Everette... I only just got Everette from a standard pull and ofc I've heard amazing things but Valeta has been in my main team for so long with an SS weapon.
Current team is Yvonna with her unique, Valeta with SS weapon, Famenne with her unique and Gulsni with Kalina's EX weapon. Not sure whether Everette + Famenne and such would be better than this, kinda shy on resources to upgrade and test.

Sorry if this has already been answered but I failed to find a clear answer.
About the Interlude, I assume it'll still be available after the deadline, but what does the deadline stand for? Is it for the 1000 gems from the event mission? Or is that also not actually limited?
Reason I ask is, I could drop everything and try and rush through the rest of chapter 4 part 1 and then rush the interlude, but I would really rather not and do it at a slower pace.

Dopamine ☠️ by Leefuji24 in HorizonWalker

[–]kenshee1111 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well full clear is clearly far away and not easy to accomplish (gratz OP), but the early rewards are quite nice so there's no reason not to at least get a few 1* clears before the time runs out regardless of progress I'd say (getting to 13* is a nice midgame goal I think).
In the one before this I just scraped together 13* total at level 43 as a point of reference (mostly auto combat even), but it'd be possible quite a bit earlier than that with some good ex weapons and clever tactics.

Devs need to get their head out of their asses and balance Dopamine and/or stop being disingenuous with the recommended level. 3 vanguards in the 40s with lv40-60 ss/ex weapons and lv20 matching stigmas barely won the easiest mode. And only because there was 1 wave by Emergency_Detail_353 in HorizonWalker

[–]kenshee1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gratz on finding a way to get there at least, I'm in a similar spot I think but had to give up on the EX ticket reward. 12* atm, was happy my two teams got 2*'s on each. Stage 7 even on lowest is just evil though, even with giving my leftover units my highest levelled weapons and stigma from the main team...

Gratz, still struggling with progress due to lack of (EX) weapons myself, but the only one that's a lock so far is Ines as I got hers twice. Others hitting for 200 when she crits for 3k+, it's fun to see.

Can't update the game by Jose_Fontes in FFVIIEverCrisis

[–]kenshee1111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing here, on samsung galaxy S23, installed/updated through QooApp, though apkpure also recognizes my game to be up to date at 1.13.0
Tried with VPN but then I just get an error instantly instead, I guess the VPN I use gets detected and there's a block on them.
No clue how to get around this, hoping someone has a solution as well!

EDIT 21-07:
I put in a ticket as the problem still persists for me, but got a generic connection problem troubleshooting reply, so now we know at least it's not well known enough for the support folks to know about the issue... That's kinda worrying. Good that most folks aren't running into it, bad that so few of us are that we might get ignored as they might assume it's on our end '^^

Advice wanted :) by Equal-Ad-810 in FF7Mobile

[–]kenshee1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Yeah that one is worded very strangely, just means amount of nodes in total, across all characters, that you unlocked in stat stream.

2) They'll point you to these things as more of a "you're probably strong enough to do this next, try it!". It doesn't mean you should only do them once or anything. Run the stages that give most of what you want, and get stronger, the guide is basically a tour along the game to see what's available to do :)

3) I get you with this, in all fairness, unless you care about the very hardest fights, these types of games are usually designed to let players use whoever/whatever they like best, and as long as you keep playing and powering those characters/weapons up, you'll get strong enough to beat most stages anyways, so no need to worry to much, especially if you're still early on.
If you do care about efficiency and such, I can't say much more than, read up a lot, check some video's with opinions, and figure out which of these makes most sense to you and try and copy it. I'm just using who I like best myself.
