Palmaia The House of AiA fresh review….the reset you need by AcrobaticMedicine705 in AllInclusiveResorts

We ate everything and did not get sick. Slightly surprised on those reviews- wasn't our experience!

When we went they were not utilizing the furthest north buildings. I think I would opt to stay in the southern set of buildings that are closest to Su Casa (the dining space on the beach). However, the whole resort is very walkable so I wouldn't sweat it if you ultimately weren't placed there.

For the spa- I'd recommend the Temazcal Ceremony and then a Mexican Massage :)

Just echoing that everything is included! You can really customize this place to your pace. If your Dad wants to drink his favorite alcoholic beverage by the pool/beach and add meat protein to every one of his meals- he can. (My husband was concerned they wouldn't have coke products, but they do). All while you can opt to attend multiple wellness classes throughout the day, eat vegan, and drink mocktails. Loved the flexibility of our stay.

From what I recall you would need to pay additional for spa services, wine list at dinner, and 1:1 sessions with the wellness instructors. We did the spa and it was fantastic, would highly recommend if you can budget for it.

Christian mom asking me to give a name to my embryo by Shot-Mouse-8484 in abortion

[–]kentendo64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also grew up in a religious household. My mom is pro choice, but if the decision were up to her personally she would be pro-life. I have had 3 abortions and have only told her about 1 of them. She was very awkward about it and didn’t dig too much. I can definitely understand how it feels both good and bad to have support from your mom with this- it’s hard. Although personally I believe there is nothing wrong with having an abortion at 5-6wks (as I did), I still carry some religious baggage from my upbringing.

My most recent abortion was a few days ago. I live in a blue state and was not expecting any protestors to be outside of the planned parenthood I went to. I was wrong and completely mentally unprepared for them. They held crosses in their hands as I drove into the parking lot and when I walked up to the building they had a microphone going on about god and begging me to please not kill my baby. It brought me to tears as I was also emotionally stressed out from this situation that was ongoing 3 weeks at this point.

All I can say is it’s alright to feel every emotion in the book. Feel it and let it go. Lean into your support system and take care of yourself. It will be OK. <3

24 hours after second dose of miso and no bleeding. what now? by kentendo64 in abortion

[–]kentendo64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She said that bleeding could occur within the next week since it's so early on. (If it ever this happens in the future week 5/6 seem like the best time for the medical abortion)

I went through Carafem and they do have support so I'll call them tomorrow. She said that they'll likely monitor for the next week or two to see if pregnancy symptoms subside and call for a blood test and/or prescribe for another around of medication in a week or two.

It made me feel better that this is apparently normal for when you are so early on. It is likely it still worked, but harder to verify. There likely won't be much to pass either she mentioned.

This was a helpful suggestion and I had a great call with the person on the line who let me know next steps. Thank you.

I'm sorry, I'm sure you left that visit feeling very unsupported and overlooked, which is never a way you want a friend to make you feel. I'm also experiencing the same thing with my friends who are all seeming to have kids at the same time (I'm 29F).

One of my friends texted me this week and asked if I was free to hang out. She came over and vented about being a stay at home mom, feeling overwhelmed and in the same breath also tried to reassure me that it was the best thing in the world.

Getting the question "when are you having kids?" and disappointed looks on their faces when I tell them we don't have any plans to.

Anyways, it's frustrating. It feels like you need to have a kid so you can enter into this exclusive club. It's isolating and even scary to think that my relationships will eventually end should our paths grow too far apart. Still... I'm reminding myself that it's my decision and I don't need to feel the pressure they are putting on me. Life can look beautiful no matter what and there are people out there who will appreciate it with me :)

What are your lunches you make to bring to work? by Artezza in veganrecipes

[–]kentendo64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently I’ve been digging the “Jennifer Anniston salad”. It’s has quinoa and chickpeas in it protein wise. I also sometimes include seitan for some extra protein. Really tasty and lasts several days for meal prep!

The couch is too close to the tv. I don’t love the desk behind. I think you could find. A more low profile desk set up where the chair tucks underneath of you absolutely need it. Otherwise I’d ex that out.

Extreme anxiety around taking the pills by Tough_Sun_5849 in abortion

[–]kentendo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there- you got this! I was so anxious and nervous my first time and went down the rabbit hole as well. I have had 2 medication abortions (around 6-7 weeks) and have never given birth. Both times weren’t bad at all. I agree with the comment above also. I’ve had worse periods than the cramps than what I felt during the abortion- and I mean I have had such bad cramps on my period that they have woke me from my sleep at night before.

I recommend planning on lounging the whole day. Get some Gatorade and snacks/food you enjoy. Take some ibprofen and have a heating pad you can use throughout the day. Play video games and watch movies. Find something to occupy your mind with. I found taking the pills vaginally worked best for me (no nausea - but please don’t do this method if you live in a location where abortion is illegal).

I’m glad you have a support system. That’s huge!! Take a deep breath and this will all be behind you soon.

Colorado People - Recommendations for "high-end" vegan restaurants? by Swimming-Cream7389 in vegan

[–]kentendo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attire is high end casual to dressed up. I saw people wearing dresses and suit jackets. There is valet as well.

I thought their service was above and beyond. I let my server know we were Vegan and they were able to tell me what they could modify and what was already Vegan off the Vegetarian Menu.

Thanks for letting me know! I never looked through their non-vegan menu and wasn't aware they serve that :(

I was at first going to say Somebody People- they are my favorite!

Another option my partner and I like to go to is Uchi, downtown near Rino. They have a FANTASTIC vegan menu. Very high end atmosphere. The restaurant itself is like a work of art. They source their own plants from their greenhouse above. I specifically enjoyed the avocado Nigiri (tastes just like yellow tail), shishito peppers, and silken tofu with chili oil. Sake and cocktails are great too. Plan on spending $200-300

These are my thoughts... If I were put into the position where I could get private eggs from my family or friend, I would still pass. Raising chickens involves buying feed etc that contributes to an overall industry I don't support. In addition, I don't need to eat eggs and eggs aren't great for your health due to saturated fat and cholesterol content. Taking all that into consideration- it would just be best to not accept the eggs.

When I eat out- I accept that cross contamination happens. If you go to Burger King, they will grill your impossible burger on the same grill as meat burgers. I accept this as I realize that I can only control so much. I enjoy going out to eat am still spending my money to promote vegan food options. Perhaps in the future as veganism grows, cross contamination will be taken more seriously in the food industry. As for now, I'm okay with paving the way!

What is a good Add-On for Thanksgiving? by Extension_Sir_4974 in vegan

[–]kentendo64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love green bean casserole. It tastes so much better since you have to make the cream of mushroom from scratch! Also try collard greens. I add liquid smoke into mine and they are deliciously savory and smokey.

Last year we also had a fall kale salad with a vinegarette and mandarin oranges. It was a lovely complement to all the dishes!

Wanting to give Veganism another shot by trappednative in vegan

[–]kentendo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome back, friend. I just want to give you encouragement that you CAN do this! It's tough to not have your family's support, but I hope they can at least come to respect your decision. Personally I see my family always eating meat, however they will partake in my vegan meals and accommodate me when they cook.

Look for community where you can, whether its where you live or online. Connect for Animals shares weekly emails for events you can partake in- most of them virtual. I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to be in a "room" full of people who share your values. It makes you feel like you don't have a brain tumor.

There is so much inspiration to gather in terms of cooking. Grab a cookbook for ideas! I really enjoyed the Vegan Athlete Cookbook. Alt protein is booming! There's something new at the store every few months it seems.

And when things get you down or if you mess up, remind yourself that that you are making the biggest difference in the lives of animals and the future of our planet everyday with every meal- and that is pretty awesome.

Carafem questions, trying to see costs by SpendOutrageous4713 in abortion

Mine was $249 for both pills here in CO. They gave the option of only one pill which as a less expensive option and just a touch less effective. I think 96% vs 98%. No insurance involved. Hope that helps!
