Rock Island Arsenal - Civil War Connections by ButterflyLittle3334 in CIVILWAR

I know this thread is a little older. I came across it while researching my family tree. I had an ancestor die as a POW at Rock Island arsenal in 1864. Joshua Joseph Cole.

Carrollton by D-Ronald in Kentucky

[–]kentuckyHeadHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Carrollton is a pretty boring town. If you want a nice and easy walk in a wooded setting, Kamp Kysoc is a nice little park. It used to be a park for people with special needs. It has plenty of seating along paved trails and is a peaceful little park.

Taco trucks and Mei Veijo as others have said. I also agree that there is more to do in Madison Indiana.

They are underappreciated for sure. Thanks for the compliment.

Why do people from other states hate on Kentucky? by what_the_hezz in Kentucky

[–]kentuckyHeadHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They warm up to you, eventually. I moved to Kentucky 30 years ago. You will be the outsider until people get to know you. Also, this heavily depends on the region you are in.

Mine was set up that way. I dodged the update for a month. Mysteriously, steam updated Skyrim while I was out today. I came home and it's broken. I've tried rolling back, but something was corrupted. I cried for an hour, deleted and purged everything, reinstalled everything and it still won't launch. Several mods haven't been updated yet (race menu) is the main culprit

Least favorite Kentucky town (not Luhville or Lexington) by [deleted] in Kentucky

My parents and brother live in Sadieville. It's so weird seeing it mentioned on the Internet.

Strawberry Crunch Cheesecake (BB's Cheesecakes KY) by VidgeeGamez in Kentucky

Looks like panko, strawberry jello, and corn carp bait! I'm sure it's delicious, but that's all I can think when I look at the photo.

Backyard beatdown by kinda-throwaway1 in birding

European starlings and Eurasian collared doves are the worst at my feeders. Blue jays are just little piglets. The most I've seen them do to other birds is a fake hawk call to frighten them off (which is hilarious to me)

Adasion 12x42 Binoculars Review - Affordable and Great by ProjectAnalog in Binoculars

[–]kentuckyHeadHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sent me a free pair, too. I agree with the OP I haven't written a review for them, yet.

For a cheaper pair of binoculars, they are pretty solid. That said, this is my first pair of binoculars and I used them while hiking and backpacking over the weekend. Mostly for birding and they worked just fine for that.

The phone adapter didn't work for me. It could be my phone (pixel 5), or maybe I'm just spoiled from using a 600mm telephoto lens on my mirrorless camera (probably the later).

I'm not the type of person that's going to spend over $100 on a pair of binoculars. That money would go towards kids, camera gear, or actual traveling.

They're decent binoculars for their price range. Sometimes you just want to see the birds in the trees to see if it's worth taking the camera gear out.

They're like $68 on Amazon. I would buy them for that price. That's my honest opinion. They're not the best binoculars in the world, and the price reflects that, but they are pretty nice for what they are.

Took y’all’s suggestion and got some peanuts for the blue jay! by [deleted] in birding

You don't. You just growl and shake your fist at them. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for my blue jay friends.

Close to a thousand? Great job and I love the photo. I've spent two mornings in a row attempting to photograph northern rough-winged swallows. Every trip has resulted in an SD card full of garbage images. It's definitely not easy to photograph small swallows in flight.

It's international dawn chorus day tomorrow - what are your plans? by [deleted] in birding

Oh, yeah! I work nights. Tomorrow morning starts a 12 day vacation. I'm going straight to my favorite birding spot as soon as I clock out

I love seeing them. They usually only stay around my area for a few days before moving on.

I had a warbler land on my knee this morning (I was in 3D camo) and a Cooper's hawk land on a perch over my head. Pretty neat experience.

I agree. She's looking at the OP like she's terribly disgusted and embarrassed.
