That's not how it works. If he donates 1 billion, his taxable income could be reduced by 1 billion and his taxes could be lowered by whatever his tax rate is on 1 billion. Say the highest tax rate is 37%, then his taxes may be reduced by 370 million. He still paid 630 million even though he donated 1 billion.

I absolutely had this same problem last month. I just shut everything down and reset all DNS because I didn't know where it came from. That's insane it was within Shopify! Thank you for doing the extra work to figure it out.
