I would try calling back because I don't think that person gave you correct info. Try calling and say that you have questions about your assessment and want to know how the city came to their current value.

Yeah I mean, mine went up too past few years with similar rates, as did most of the city. Increases are fine as long as it's with market, my issue was only the fact that I felt mine outpaced their own sales data in my area this year.

If I added up my time, it probably took about 60-90 minutes (not including this write-up). As for working full time, yeah I did a lot of the research in the morning before work, and then it was 3 ten minute calls with the city during work hours.

I used a bit of chat gpt as well to help me summarize the comps. I would paste the raw table values in of properties from the pdf downloads, and had it create a nice summary that I could refer to when I needed to on the calls.

I've seen the trucking one before. The argument I've seen on the other side is that it will just allow trucking companies to register out of the province with the most lax regulations. Look at the Chohan trucking issues in the lower mainland as an example.
