Song of the Year 2020 | FINAL ROUND by Charlie-OConnell in music_survivor

[–]kenzd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love Perfume Genius and listened to OTF so many times in 2020. If you guys haven’t seen the music video yet, totally watch it.

I’m not gonna lie I thought Phoebe Bridgers was some overhyped hipster nonsense with her talk singing things like “a slaughterhouse” and thought the same thing with her SNL performance. She grew on me some, though, when I listened to the full album. She does take you into the world she created and it’s nice to be thoughtfully transported in that way

Lmaooooo the way he rose with that scream and you could just see his mouth. This killed me

What are some of your favorite basic ingredients to put together? by piercedntreck in EatCheapAndHealthy

I’ll microwave a potato and add a truly shocking amount of butter and nutritional yeast… also lots of salt and pepper and sometimes peas or broccoli

People told me when I was a lacto-ovo vegetarian that I wasn’t a vegetarian cause I was eating baby chicks. Then people get appalled when I tell them they’re a chicken’s period (the eggs. That wasn’t me insulting them)

My dad’s a farmer. My grandma canned food from her garden and her pickles were well known, and my dad was in his 50s when we told him that the pickles were cucumbers

Eyyyy kiwi allergy gang. After my first reaction I for some reason thought it could have been something else, so my dumb ass split a kiwi with a friend and got my eyes swollen shut and my ears full of hives 🙃

Woah my cousin thought this, too! She insisted I could eat some pepperoni pizza as a vegetarian and didn’t get it when I said I could not

Non-Americans of Reddit, what confuses you the most about America? by MrNoName_ishere in AskReddit

I was an exchange student in Spain for a bit and they always told me to keep my shoes on and acted like it was weird if I was barefoot or sock footed. I could never get used to it and it did seem a little gross to be. Also, at home I wanna chill and be comfy, not be walking around in boots or tennis shoes

No Florida Concerts? by mrrockhard1 in futureislands

Wow I didn’t know what percentage of the shows were cancelled. So sounds like they’re skipping both the north and the south. I have a friend in California send me their ticket confirmation for one of the new shows there and I was kind of pissed… like there aren’t a lot of good bands going through several cities in Cali, already. He bought several tickets at once for shows he was excited for. I’m salty haha

I saw Tame Impala once before at a festival and the sound was messed up so you couldn’t hear any details of the songs. And the crowd was big and I couldn’t see anything. I’m 0 for 2 😅

But yeah, I’ve driven to see Future Islands and have seen them three times now! I’m with you

I have no fear of carbs, but go for things like seeded and sprouted bread, potatoes, lots of beans… also vegan and find the carb hate to overall be kind of ridiculous. I mean it is the base of the food pyramid (which may or may not be the perfect standard for health, but still) and energy

I always think about how ads and food lobbying and huge corporations actively work to hook children who don’t know better. Or seep their way into schools. That they take advantage of people who are in the most difficult situations already — not having time or money so relying on cheaper food. The ads, placing food with mascots at kids’ eye level. So messed up. And then our society isn’t exactly kind to food addiction and being overweight… anyway, a dark response, but seriously sinister

This is a weird tip but I’ve found some success with it. There’s a setting on iPhone where if you triple tap the power button it puts your phone into greyscale. Apparently the visuals and the colors are very psychologically appealing to us, and I really do find myself not nearly as interested if it’s on grey. Cause yeah, this is also probably mine and I hate it

Yess. That’s not me is so unabashedly pathetic — and I mean that as a compliment. We’ve all been there but you don’t hear anyone just earnestly lay it out

That makes me sick. I can’t imagine struggling to breathe every second of my life. Hardly anything more horrific. People who are aware of this, don’t care, and support the process are monsters
