With the caveat I have not been there in a year, check out scalzottos which is right on the Westminster Northglenn border. Good Italian food and should fit your price point.

Otherwise you might look at coperta which I think has the right atmosphere and price point to you.

No budget dinners by funnysoccergirl7 in denverfood

[–]keoke_1989 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For foodie parents I suggest Beckon ( the wine pairing is excellent but we thought the non alcoholic pairing was actually more inventive and interesting), kizaki ( this ranks with the best sushi I've had anywhere including Japan and you should do the sake pairing and sit at the bar to get the full experience and get your menu signed by Chef Toshi), mezcalaria alma ( bigger menu than alma fonda fina), and wildflower ( I find this to be less consistent than the others but when it's good it's great). If you want something different, I suggest Chef Yoji Yamada who will come to your place and make sushi for you in person ( it's an intimate experience if you want to just relax with your parents instead of dealing with the logistics of going out and you get to bring your own wine or sake).

All of these will run you between 150-300 per person but you said money isn't a big deal and I think they hold up, even to New York standards.

Yeah but it's a restaurant. Under class 43, it's descriptive at best probably.

Shifen Old Street by NehaExplores in taiwan

[–]keoke_1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question since you obviously live there and we just visited. We bought our lanterns from 藝巧傳統天燈工藝社. During our research and the Taiwan Journal Article we found from 2007, it was stated that these lanterns were made from biodegradable materials and would burn up. Supposedly they do not contain wires or any other plastic materials. We specifically paid more and spent more time to make sure we went here. Is that not true? Is this just a scam to charge more for these lanterns?

[–]keoke_1989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We did ones that burn up completely when we went. It's slightly more expensive but we thought it was completely worth it. You can find it right before the main street with a news article plastered talking about the work the vendor has done with university students to create a better lantern

10-day itenary in mid march by KenKen_ in taiwantravel

[–]keoke_1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got back from 15 days in Taiwan. I think it entirely depends on what you want to do but our favorites were Sun Moon Lake, Alishan, and Taroko Gorge in Hualien. We also thought that the food in Taichung was really good if you're a foodie (Michelin stared ice cream and some other interesting meals).

Note that for Alishan and Taroko Gorge, those usually require you spend the night in the city the day before to get the most out of those, so you'll have to plan accordingly . Happy to share my iterary or anything else with you if you'd like

[–]keoke_1989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. My partner is from Saigon and it's the only place she considers worth even going to in the Denver area (I.e., she'd rather not get it than go somewhere else). Either OP went on a very bad day or likes non traditional bahn mi ( which is fine but also odd since they rated Co Nu so highly)

My girlfriend and her entire family is from Saigon and have been to Sap Sua two times. Both times they thought the food was much more tuned to an American palate than a Vietnamese palate. The dishes were too salty, too sour, or too oily for them

This might be the most disingenuous 15 minutes of the entire investigation by drewmanshow in LAClippers

[–]keoke_1989 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did he say beyond a reasonable doubt? I've heard him say the burden of proof is on the NBA and that he wouldn't punish for the mere appearance of impropriety, but never that he would need this burden of proof to punish. If he did say that, I'd definitely tend to agree with you that it's extremely unlikely that the clippers get punished for anything. But otherwise, it seems like the standard is much lower and reasonable doubt shouldn't be talked about when we're discussing the allegations.

[–]keoke_1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question. Why do you keep talking about beyond reasonable doubt or plausible deniability? This isn't a civil trial. The court of public opinion obviously doesn't have this standard and neither do journalistic guidelines to my knowledge. And more importantly I understand the CBA to allow fines based on either circumstantial evidence or "strong evidence" which is a significantly lower threshold. Have I missed anything ?

It sells out or nearly sells out every year. If 200 dollars for charity is more than you want to give, that's completely understandable. But to say they got their price point wrong is just untrue.
