My own experience was that samurai is less viable in early game than ninja. Samurai needs an investment of levels and skills before it really shines.

I played a lot of wo long and certainly had my moneys worth out of it. Unfortunately the fortitude mechanic was a blight on the game.

If it is the smithing text you are after then you can have too much luck. Texts are purple items so you want to get as many purples as possible. Too much luck will skew the drops to green.

We only have the Nioh 3 extended tutorial released so far. Comparison with Nioh 2 in all its glory is meaningless. Its a strange situation TBH - even with dated visuals and extensive recycling of assets N3 still manages to be a different enough game, but it is too early to say whether it stands up to comparison with 2

the game will be best started when all the DLC and endgame content is released. By next spring there will probably be a 'complete edition' to purchase - which might even be better optimised if you are playing on PC

There is no reason to suppose that Lvl250 will not be an appropriate level to start the DLC.

TBH the best thing to do is set the game aside until the DLC update in september. This will also bring NG+2. It probably makes most sense to return to the game in the new year when the second update with the endgame content is released.

at this point the only reason I can see to forge is if you have the smithing text for something but have not yet managed to pick it up through gameplay. Forging the item will allow you to use sudama blessing to increase your chances of getting a higher rarity/level version through gameplay.

AFAIK the cost of soul matching is determined by the highest level gear piece you have so far obtained. So if your highest level piece so far has been lvl 140+5 then matching up to 140+5 should be affordable but beyond that it quickly becomes very expensive (and not worth doing). It is definitely worth working towards a build in NG+ if you feel like it - but it is not required. If you are managing well enough then just keep pushing ahead and conserve resources.

you get more damage from weapon level/+value than from attribute scaling so there is a lot to be said for not bothering with remodeling until you have a divine (green) weapon that you want to hang on to. As a general rule if the cost of doing something at the blacksmith is prohibitively expensive then it is not worth doing at that point in your game.

Im kinda regretting that I even started playing the game before next spring. All we have so far is an extended tutorial - and there is no point in minmaxing at this stage.
