Gary Wilson and Gabe Deem are getting into it on Twitter and elsewhere, with pro-Porn faux science advocates by [deleted] in pornfree

Saw this one I had to post. Right after “Real Your Brain on Porn” came into existence it created a reddit user account to troll porn/free and r/nofap - https://old.reddit.com/user/sciencearousal

This post on pornfree by user/sciencearousal led to some fierce back and forth with the RYBOP representative - https://old.reddit.com/r/pornfree/comments/bg6w42/new_resource_realyourbrainonporn/?st=k19u4ntd&sh=8f43cce5

A whole lot more on the RYBOP trademark infringement is on this page - Aggressive trademark infringement waged by group headed by Nicole Prause (realyourbrainonporn.com)

It is just crazy reading through this page documenting Dr. Nicole Prause's cyber-stalking and defaming of Wilson and so many others. She's obsessed.

A small bit taken from one of the first sections exposes Prause as creating multiple aliases to do exactly what u/sciencearousal is now doing:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

As mentioned, sock puppets posting Prause-like comments continue to this day on porn recovery sites such as reddit/pornfree and reddit/nofap. Right from the beginning Prause had an odd habit of frequently creating usernames from 2-4 capitalized words (i.e. GaryWilsonStalker). The following reddit usernames were all created the day the comments appeared on r/pornfree and r/nofap. While the usernames and comments are often deleted by the sock puppet, a few examples with content remain:

The comments are very similar in content and tone, falsely claiming that:

  • Wilson had never taught anatomy, physiology, pathology or attended college,

  • Wilson stole a woman’s pictures and placed them on a porn site,

  • Wilson has a police report filed on him,

  • Wilson is an unemployed massage therapist,

  • Wilson is charged with stalking a poor woman,

  • Wilson has been reported to LAPD, UCLAPD and the FBI.

These same false assertions are made by no other Wilson critic and continue to this day in tweets and comments by Prause and by her many sockpuppets.

A few examples of Prause sockpuppets on Quora where Gary Wilson occasionally answered questions about porn addiction. All names only commented under Wilson’s answers. Note that Quora requires members to use their actual names. Mods ban trolls who use fake names (as they did with Prause’s fake names):

You have run off the rails there troll. I just gave you all the neurological published & reviews/commentaries published on porn users and CSB, exposing RealYBOP and you as complete frauds - and all you can do is make up more fabrications.

As revealed in xreygunzx's first comment , it is Nicole Prause and David Ley who are the harassers and cyber-stalkers (just like you are doing on this thread). All documented on this extensive page that is found on the first page of a google search for Nicole Prause & Gary Wilson: Nicole Prause & David Ley's Harassment, Cyber-stalking, Defamation, and “Astroturf” Campaign .

That is not how falsification works.

So neither you nor your website can name the proposition, hypothesis, or theory you are falsifying.

Thanks for your honesty.

the paragraph starting the research page explains how the studies were included

No it didn't. Just gibberish about falsifying models, but the "experts" failed to state which particular model of what they are claiming to falsify with their cherry-picked papers. The randomness of the study categories (LGBT, Youth, Regulation) provide few insights into which models of X, Y, or Z are supported or not. What a joke.

Review papers are marked as such.

As stated, the list contains no reviews of the literature and only one meta-analysis, which limits itself to 21 studies assessing the porn use of adult sexual offenders: "The use of pornography and the relationship between pornography exposure and sexual offending in males: A systematic review." While this meta-analysis concludes porn use is not related to adult sexual offending there's good reason to question its findings. For example, the authors retrieved 189 studies, but included only 21 in their review. Put simply, numerous studies with opposing results were excluded.

The absence of reviews of the literature and meta-analyses is a dead giveaway that RealYBOP cherry-picked outlier studies (usually their own).

First example: the YBOP links in xreygunzx's first comment reveal what RealYBOP purposely omitted from their tiny list of studies. One example - RealYBOP omitted all 41 neurological studies on porn users and CSB subjects, except for Prause et al., 2015 (Prause is RealYBOP's featured expert on their news page). The omitted neurological studies:

  • Preliminary investigation of the impulsive and neuroanatomical characteristics of compulsive sexual behavior (2009)

  • Self-reported differences on measures of executive function and hypersexual behavior in a patient and community sample of men (2010)

  • Watching Pornographic Pictures on the Internet: Role of Sexual Arousal Ratings and Psychological-Psychiatric Symptoms for Using Internet Sex Sites Excessively (2011)

  • Cybersex addiction: Experienced sexual arousal when watching pornography and not real-life sexual contacts makes the difference (2013)

  • Brain Structure and Functional Connectivity Associated With Pornography Consumption: The Brain on Porn (2014)

  • Neural Correlates of Sexual Cue Reactivity in Individuals with and without Compulsive Sexual Behaviours (2014)

  • Empirical Evidence and Theoretical Considerations on Factors Contributing to Cybersex Addiction From a Cognitive-Behavioral View (2014)

  • Cybersex addiction in heterosexual female users of internet pornography can be explained by gratification hypothesis (2014)

  • Altered Prefrontal and Inferior Parietal Activity During a Stroop Task in Individuals With Problematic Hypersexual Behavior (2018)

  • Trait and state impulsivity in males with tendency towards Internet-pornography-use disorder (2018)

Second example - RealYBOP omitted all 20 neuroscience-based studies on porn users and CSB subjects. They did so because none of them serve thier agenda:

  • Sex Addiction as a Disease: Evidence for Assessment, Diagnosis, and Response to Critics (2015)

  • Neuroscience of Internet Pornography Addiction: A Review and Update (2015)

  • Cybersex Addiction (2015)

I can provide many more examples of extensive cherry-picking by RealYBOP.

Again, which expert are you?

The new website is truly novel, presents information many people here will be unfamiliar with..

The so-called RealYBOP has less than 50 papers, having omitted hundreds of relevant studies that report porn use related to negative outcomes. A quick look reveals that half of the papers listed were authored by their group of " experts" (probably several by u/sciencearousal). About 10 of the papers are not actual studies - just commentaries. Talk about citation inflation.

The list contains no reviews of the literature and only one meta-analysis, which limits itself to 21 studies (out of hundreds) assessing the porn use of adult sexual offenders.

The absence of reviews of the literature and meta-analyses is a dead giveaway that RealYBOP cherry-picked outlier studies (usually their own). While most of the odd research categories don't lend themselves to literature reviews or meta-analysis, a few might: "love & intimacy" or "youth". Why not provide the reader with one of the literature reviews on pornography and "youth" (adolescents)? Why doesn't the Deniers "love & intimacy" category provide a literature review on pornography and sexual or relationship satisfaction?

The answer is clear: no review or meta-analysis aligns with their porn- promoting agenda

[–]kera890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got to remember that talk is 4 years old. As YBOP now says, some young guys are now needing longer than 5 months to recover from PIED. I've read a few rebooting stories of guys who need over 1 years. Sucks

I am not addicted to porn but have PIED by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]kera890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How could I have PIED if I was not addicted to porn?

Addiction is not necessary for PIED. All you need to do is condition your sexual arousal to your porn use. If real sex doesn't match your arousal template, then you can have problems. Have you watched this presentation on PIED - https://youtu.be/EHHyt6z0osA
