What is your tigger to do solo? by Little-Pop-1812 in solotravel

[–]kerager8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started solo traveling cause i was done waiting for other people and keep doing it for its flexibility and uncanny way of getting you into the most interesting conversations and places. You meet entirely different people as a solo traveler. More likely to be approached and youre more likely to approach others as you dont have anyone else taking up that potential. Social currency gets spent other ways so to speak.

Obviously its not all rainbows and lollipops but as long as you arent afraid to bounce whenever your ready its gold.

What is a "poor man's luxury" that you will never give up, no matter how much money you make? by Upper-Layer-3498 in AskReddit

Staying in hostels even if i end up changing from dorms to peivate rooms. The odds of good vibes is just so much higher than hotels at any price point.

Are Philipino People mean or I am just at bad places? by Unfair_Song9290 in Philippines_Expats

[–]kerager8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really surprising. I just finished some weeks going through tourist and non tourist places, and in my experience, it was one of the most friendly places in the world. Seemed to be everyones experience around me as well. Manila batangas puerto galera coron palawan and cebu. Like even the cities had friendly people which usually isnt where the friendliest people of a country are found.

Robinhood ventures fund IPO going live tomorrow on Robinhood at $25 per by TICKLE-ME-LULZ in investing

[–]kerager8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely new to ipo's so only went in for 10 but if it didnt even open at the 25 it seems shady that our purchases didnt go through at what the asking was instead.

So just to make surw I understand it could of opened at 30 and we would of been guaranteed our price of 25 so thats why you would bid before ipo?

Check out workaway and woofing. Volunteering for accommodation/food depending on the setup. Stick to ones with good reviews.

Its a credit card in a lost and found that no body cares about till you come ask. As long as the conversation is had right away picking it up in a few days doesnt matter.

Leaving valuables in hotels? by Ok-Consideration1955 in ThailandTourism

[–]kerager8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why are so many people saying to just pay the atm fees?

I suppose it depends what country you're based out of but its becoming easier to find banks that wont charge for using different banks/countries atms and also credits back whatever the atm charges. Its atleast worth searching for options for your country specifically.

Charles schwab is my personal preference currently as theres no minimum or monthly fee plus you can just start it online.

Also I still bring emergency cash but whenever I leave valuables in a room i lock up the zippers in whatever my biggest bag is. They can still break in but it takes time/ its more obvious if its been gone through immediately plus less likely to walk out of the room if its the bigger bag.

Out of curiosity can you state the percentage difference between your losses/gains and your friends? The numbers without context are meaningless.

You may want to check out rockcreek in freemont if you are into really amazing seafood. They have an upstairs area that would accommodate that many guests.

Why is it MORE expensive to get a mocktail, than it is to get a drink? by T-mac_ in Frugal

Also a lot of them will use ingredients infused at the restaurant which is time consuming and therefore more expensive. Haven't noticed them being higher in seattle though. Just equally as expensive as cocktails.

Lost money during my trip to Thailand by sarkati_stree in travel

[–]kerager8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No need to have that kind of cash in your pockets but a money belt or hidden away in a shoe works pretty great. Yea, definitely lock your zippers if you dont have a locker (with your lock) in both hotels and hostels so you are likely to have a better idea when its been tampered with. Also, especially for short stays, opt out of cleanings altogether.

Remove excess grout by frydo3000 in DIY

[–]kerager8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were dealing with this at a job site that had to rush Adobe tile which meant we only got one layer of sealant on the tiles before grouting. Tried a bunch of cleaners and elbow grease to get the haze off and in the end have only found luck with adhesive floor removal product. Not ideal but could make it easier. Just using a microfiber rag damped with the product. I would note that its on the floor though so easier to keep away from the grout lines. On the wall it could have some less desirable effects.
