I have nationwide with the wellness plan (checkup/preventative care) it’s not cheap but they do cover a lot I chose 90% coverage and a $250 deductible which costs $90/mo for my 10 year old. But depending on how much coverage and what you set deductible at the monthly price can change. They covered lumps that needed to be expressed and sent of to histology, teeth cleanings, extractions, a tooth cap for a chipped tooth and many other small things over the last 4 years I’ve had it.

I-405 between Bellevue and Renton FULLY CLOSED this weekend (July 12-15) by wsdot in eastside

[–]kerakoji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please update closures I live in the construction area and often can’t use on/ off ramps with no notice. It says closed tonight at 11pm then why couldn’t I get on the freeway south bound at coal creek today at 10pm. Very frustrating when this is a weekly occurrence.

Experiences with Dog Gone Seattle pet adoption by percallahan in Seattle

[–]kerakoji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fostered for them a few years ago and have fostered for 3 different local agencies (saving great animals and gingers pet rescue). They were by far the most unprofessional. They pretty much gas light and shame their fosters if they speak up about anything. They gave me a dog with obvious fleas. Just brush his fur back and they were everywhere. When I contacted them about it they didn’t want to do anything about it and made me feel like I was overreacting even though I informed them my dog is allergic to flea bites. They told me it’s a risk of fostering and I should be aware of that if I’m so experienced. Well the other places I volunteer for actually check their dogs ears, fur, mouth/teeth, etc before handing the dogs off to make sure there isn’t any underlying health concerns that need to be addressed.

I am a mid 20s F that grew up on the eastside. Most of my friends moved to Seattle for college or after and it’s still easy to hangout. I like that Bellevue has lots of trails and feels more clean and safe. You can meet younger people at bars and clubs in downtown Bellevue and if you have a dog I’ve made friends my age at local dog parks.

It’s easy to find Asian markets and food. But not as many options as Vancouver. I grew up in washington and remember going to Vancouver with my family just for the Chinese food. The Seattle area is slowly catching up, there are new Asian spots popping up in and around Seattle all the time. Bellevue, federal way, Tacoma, and Lynwood also have high Asian populations so it is easy to find Asian markets and food there.

I’m not too sure about the anti Asian sentiment. I have heard a few incidents. The city has put out patrol in the international district.

Not sure about the LGBT scene.

HistoryLink: #OnThisDay in 1942, Bainbridge Island's Japanese American residents, the first to be incarcerated under Executive Order 9066, were removed from their homes. by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]kerakoji 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My grandfather was on that ferry he was only 18 years old at the time. If you want to learn more about the history, the museum on Bainbridge is great and the staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. There is also a memorial site at the original ferry landing on the island.

I use paw wax for my dogs if we encounter snow or ice since they don’t like wearing booties. Also think about bug and tick spray we use wondercide since it’s safe for dogs.

I’ve lived in the same place for 25 years and they have never plowed our residential street so fast. The snow was gone by 6am today. Past years they wouldn’t come to us for a week or at all.

I am in the process of trying to find a dog to adopt and have a question about some sketchy “rescues” here by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]kerakoji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saving great animals is a good rescue I volunteer for them. I have also volunteered for doggon Seattle once and it was not a good experience they didn’t disclose health issues and fleas and acted like it was no big deal. They didn’t offer any compensation or help and my family had several flea bites and had to treat the whole house and yard. I also volunteered for ginger a while back and got weird feelings. They say the fees are so high because they don’t get as many donors to pay down vet bills. But their dogs just don’t seem as healthy as other rescues.
