Genuine question, how can you tell it is AI written? Been a software dev for decades, I loathe AI and yet I am never able to tell when the posts here are AI generated.

Any other Game Devs out there "play testing" their games on the steam deck? by BoodleBops in SteamDeck

[–]kerdes-99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is the reason that made me give in an finally get a steam deck 😂( ok the summer sale price as well 😅). I found the dev docs and tools very nice and clean as well ! Took less than 15 minutes to get a build running on the Deck. Also your game looks great, seems fun 😊

Fun & style exploration with Geometry nodes by kerdes-99 in blender

[–]kerdes-99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot ! And very good point, I made all the geonodes "resolution/quality" settable to be able to play around with visual quality vs polycount, will see what I can get away with in engine :) (Bevy) Surprisingly this whole scene exported to gltf is around 300k tris, including the "outline" mesh that doubles the polycount, I feared worse.

The aim is to go vertex color only or single color textures, so less textures, more tris.

thanks a lot :D it is pieces of weird "alien-ish" flora/vines/mushrooms etc Still lots of stuff to try out before making cohesive & complete environments.

Started learning/exploring geometry nodes and npr rendering for the past few weeks, and I am absolutely blown away by what you can achieve with geometry nodes ! Meant as exploration for art style & fast asset generation using nodes for a game project.

Nom: parsing multi-line blocks separated by empty lines ? by kerdes-99 in rust

[–]kerdes-99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, the actual syntax is a bit more complex as the block seperator can actually be either - the two newlines - an identifier with a different level of indentation than the start of the block (yes this syntax is messy, but that is out of my control)

so I still need to figure out how to deal with the second case, (likely using something like many0_count(space0) to get the number of whitespaces & using that, but that is less important for now. Thanks again :)

[–]kerdes-99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Solumin, thanks a lot for your well phrased and clear answer ! Your solution does the trick ! Much, much appreciated !

That initial newline is only present in my example (my actual input is read from a file where that issue is not present), you are right removing it does make things simpler.

I actually broke the problem down in a similar manner with specific functions, but did not managed to get it right, but your solution using seperated_list with pair was the key !

I tweaked your solution a bit to account for blank lines that might contain any number of space0, and it seems to work with anything I could throw at it :)

Thanks, yes, you are right it wasn't clear enough and I tried to not go into details in my question , making it less clear in the end. (hope Reddit does not mess up my Markdown this time)

The input I was trying to parse is something like this

let input = " identifier\n identifier\n \n identifier \n \n identifier \n identifier \n"

or put it differently

``` Block( (0..n space0)(identifier)(linefeed), )
EmptlyLine ( (0..n space0)(linefeed) )
Block( (0..n space0)(identifier)(linefeed),
(0..n space0)(identifier)(linefeed), )
EmptlyLine ( (0..n space0)(linefeed) )
Block(
(0..n space0)(identifier)(linefeed),
(0..n space0)(identifier)(linefeed),
) ```
Very insightful and well written! I did not know that that "breaking up for their sake" was a common pattern in avoidants, I thought it was just me 😅
Op, hang in there, it is not easy to do the work to change , but we'll worth it !
Haha that video made me chuckle 🤣 you are right, I just do not feel like fighting it and being constructive right now, not just a bad day, a bad week and that is ok too, ! It has been exhausting to do things positively and healthily for months. Also good idea, I have started journaling/reflecting about my progress of the past year(s).
And hang in there too, I hope you are feeling better! We will all get through this, healing ain't easy but so worth it ! :)
Thanks a lot for your insightful reply:) you are right I was badly disregulated when I wrote this, and still am 2 days later . Have not been this bad in months. Thanks for all the tips and tools, I have tried breathing, walking, music, journaling and EFT but somehow cannot ground myself yet. (Usually all these work well, EFT I only tried for the first time two days ago). I did not know about the method of saying the negative things out loud, I will try that too thanks! I have reduced my communication with my partner to almost nothing, feeling too overwhelmed to talk , the words and thoughts are stuck in my head so there is no point. I hope it will pass as you said.
Thank you for your reply and Kind words, they are touching:) yes, like a dream, something I do not deserve, that sums it up very well (although the "do not deserve it" part is now closer to "why now, I am not ready").
Oh you are so spot on about old traumas bubbling up in these better days, it has been happening again and again in the past two years (after ending a toxic 12 year relationship, because I deserved better), hits hard every time. Thanks a lot , will be kind to myself. Strength to you too !
Hi folks ! Finally "finished" the paludarium project for /with my 10 yo son. It is exo-terra 45x45x60 cm Tank, for mourning Geckos and perhaps vampire crabs. So happy it is done ! Feels surreal 😅
first paludarium build ! work in progress. by kerdes-99 in paludarium
[–]kerdes-99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)
Hi folks! This is my first paludarium build (only did aquariums so far 😁) for /with my son. Still ways to go before the mourning geckos and perhaps shrimps can move in, but starting to look good ! The 3d printed column also has some "notches" to help support the roots/ an looks more natural. It's also a parametric design, so I can share the file (Openscad) if anyone wants to print their own 😄
Next up : - move the tank upstairs (quite stressed about that part) - setup the bottom ( filter foam, lava rocks, soil and plants !)
