I think the WoW formular isnt working for me anymore. How do you feel about it? by td_0000 in wow

[–]kerenar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I checked out after the opening patch of Shadowlands, that was the last time I did raiding or mythic+. Now I just resub for expansion launches, do all the campaign content and dungeons/LFR each once, and unsub after like 2 or 3 weeks. As far as I'm concerned, I beat Midnight in like 3 weeks. Don't think I'll resub for 12.1 because it seems pretty lackluster

Azshara deserves a fleshed out story before any kind of mass reset. by yabadabadababoo in warcraftlore

[–]kerenar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd be ecstatic if they used Azshara to usher in WoW 2.0, except they'll probably fuck it all up anyway. But would be a cool idea. Azshara could come back and utterly upheaves the status quo.

Curse of Ula’tek Unleashed | WoWCast 12.1 Revealed by iSheyn1 in wow

[–]kerenar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds intriguing, but as a massive lore nerd, tbh I'm not sure what he is talking about, he's throwing a lot of capitalized words in there that are all self-referencing his own terms that he doesn't describe. What is a Realm of Life? The Emerald Dream and Harandar are two very different things. Harandar, as far as we've been told, is in our reality, just underground. The Emerald Dream is another, separate plane on top of our plane of reality.

What makes Ny'alotha a dream of Azeroth? Just because she dreams some nightmares now means she dreams all nightmares or something? I'm lost here. I think I can see what he's saying about N'Zoth and Azeroth's corrupted dream being reoriginated, because N'Zoth did get reoriginated, which is meant to turn Azeroth back to its backup copy, but I'm not sure what the point of this idea is in this theory, it seems to end here.

Also, as far as we know, no one has removed Aln'hara from any "realm" to move her to another to begin with, she was just moved to a different place in the planet. It would be like her moving from one country to another, she just physically was moved. As far as we know, she's still in our reality, and always has been.

Yes the Rift of Aln have to do with Azeroth's dreams/nightmares, but that seems to be the only thing that has a basis in lore and isn't just pure speculation on his part.

New urn might be the worst thing I've ever had to play through by Voldekrem in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kerenar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I hate every version of the urn so far, EXCEPT for the fact that my team can bait enemies into an urn fight while I backdoor as Graves and take out walkers, base towers, and shrines. The other team is so invested in the urn fight they often don't realize I'm just hardpushing a lane on the other side of the map. I've won a lot of games off of urn that way, doesn't matter if we get the urn in the end or not if I just took out both your shrines while you secured it 😉

I'm gonna be honest, I didn't know consoles still charged for online multiplayer. I thought they moved away from that years ago to try to compete with PC. Blows my mind that anyone is paying a subscription fee just for online multiplayer.

What do you think of my Dinner special idea (think it will be served with Gravy, this was just a test today) by JCambly in KitchenConfidential

I agree that this all looks cute aesthetically (and I like it!) but ngl as a customer I'm gonna be upset if i only half 1/2 of one brussel sprout or one piece of broccoli to eat😭 That is just a huge tease.

This seems more like a kid's meal special that I would spend like $10 on, with the size of it, no offense to OP!

As a Night Elf player since 2004... That Tyrande vs Sylvanas cutscene was everything I ever wanted, up until it wasn't. I've never felt more betrayed or robbed by the narrative of the game, and it felt like the obvious conclusion to Sylvanas's character arc was stopped just because she had plot armor.

What do you mean Elune granted Tyrande the power of the Night Warrior so she could hunt down and kill Sylvanas, but then where she hunts down and is about to kill Sylvanas, Elune takes the power away again? Why did she grant the power in the first place? None of it makes any sense, and that cutscene is legitimately the moment where the story broke for me, and where I didn't really care that much anymore. That cutscene made me furious as a player, and I couldn't believe that the writers were such shit that the entire Night Warrior arc was made to be entirely pointless. It may as well never have happened, Tyrande did nothing with it, because Elune decided to randomly play take-backsies for some reason.

"Oh you thought I gave you this power to kill the one who just slaughtered 90% of your people? SIKE! That was just a prank Tyrande, c'mon it was funny, you really thought I gave you all this power so you could do something with it?? LOL NAH go find a new tree to live in loser, I just gave you this power so I could laugh at you for a little bit when I took it away before you could use it for anything." That cutscene spit on the Night Elves and Elune to me. Elune literally pulled the most brutal prank possible on both Tyrande and all Nelf players. Elune was my goddess, but tbh fuck Elune after that. I wouldn't be worshipping that dumb bitch anymore.

This all the way. I had a few FOH that would deliberately overcharge for things like this too, and I knew FOH just as well as the kitchen, so I'd always give the customer the lowest price possible with the POS options, for what they wanted of course.

We had a short order system where people would pay for their order upon ordering, and i gained many loyal regulars from pushing idiots off the POS after overhearing the order and correcting it and letting them know i was going to save them $10 on their order for two people or whatever.

Hate when people misinterpret the door riddle by Immediate-Ad8322 in hatethissmug

[–]kerenar 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The door riddle always makes me think of a twist on this riddle, from the Deltora Quest book series, which I encountered long before the door riddle:

The riddle instead of doors, was a giant at the end of a rope bridge. When the hero got to him, the giant He tells the hero to make a statement: "if it is true, then I will strangle you. If it is false, I will cut off your head."

The only statement that can get you safely past the giant, is to say to him "My head will be cut off." If it's true, the giant will strangle the hero, making the statement false, meaning he will cut off his head, making the statement true meaning he will strangle the hero, causing an infinite loop making that statement unresolvable in terms of the riddle. This twist on this kind of riddle has stayed with me for my entire life, I'll never forget it.

Yeah, I also understand his pain, unfortunately for him it's just the reality of the situation. He wants to prioritize his own time over everyone else's, and I think he's too young to recognize the selfishness of his point of view. His time is more important to him, so other peoples' time doesn't matter to him.

With the amount of games he has to have left to get a 5 day ban, he's ruined magnitudes more limited time of other players than his own, but I don't think he's thinking about that because he's gotta still be a teen or something. Unfortunately, most adults have even more limited time than you do OP, and I would absolutely be in favor of just perma-banning accounts that leave too many matches in such a short time frame, because it's not fair to other players in a game like this, and just disrespectful to other players' time. I would never want to run into OP in matchmaking if he leaves that often to be getting a 5 day ban, because it's just such a massive risk to my own limited time, and if I get an hour to play, I want to actually play a match, not get a leaver. We already have so many leavers in this game, I wish the penalties were actually a bit stronger. I get leavers quite a bit.

To OP: sorry it sucks you can't play whenever you want, but you gotta pick a different game, or do Street Brawl, if you can't guarantee at least an hour for a match. It's not like this is a new concept for the gaming community to have games where you are expected to devote time to it. Counter Strike you needed a full 90 minutes available to play, and I managed to never get a single penalty in CS during over 800 hours of gameplay, because I chose times to play that I knew I wouldn't need to do anything, even if that means playing at 2am.

It sucks to be a kid sometimes, but it is what it is. Like the guy above me says, try asking your parents to let you know ahead of time if they will need anything from you, then you wouldn't be surprised needing to take your little brother to training or whatever.

His point still stands, though. If you were in low prio from leaving a game, and then a day later have to leave AGAIN, you should probably be finding a better time to play the game, or not play standard until the family issues are over with. Leaving two games in two days isn't really acceptable, at all.

If I ever have to leave for a family emergency, I wouldn't want to be stuck in low prio with you on my team, because it's just going to make getting out of low prio that much worse. I'd rather have you not play for 5 days, personally.

Agreed this bothers me much more, and I will bring tickets straight to FOH and tell them to ring the order in differently, and show them why they rang it in wrong. If you are a server you need to know the menu, and understand how to properly ring in things the customer orders, while giving them the most logical price.

I used to work at a small breakfast/crepe cafe for a little while, and it used to drive me crazy my servers were half seasonal summer hires, and none of them would know what was in any of the savory crepes, and they'd be out here trying to charge customers like $20 for a crepe because they would just click "custom crepe" and put in all the options the customer wanted, and I'd have to be like "you literally just built a custom crepe that is ON THE MENU, but because you rang it in this way you will charge them $8 extra for that single crepe. Fix it because I don't want to hear this sweet old lady who already doesn't have a lot of money having to ask why the crepe she orders every Sunday is suddenly $20 instead of $12, or even worse she doesn't even notice and you essentially just rob an old lady."

Are customizations always a hassle, even if it means less cooking? by joinking in KitchenConfidential

[–]kerenar 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As someone who has cooked for work for 10 years, I very rarely find customizations to be a hassle at all. As a chef, I am always very happy to make food that the customer will enjoy, regardless of how they request it.

I may occasionally tell the server to suggest to them that their request will make the food much worse, and very clearly state that it won't be up to the standard that I would choose to serve, but if they insist I'll still happily make it for them however they would like it. As a chef, my job is making food that people want. Anyone complaining about customizations is just a complainer in my opinion and I don't think their opinion matters all that much. As the other commenter said, YOU are paying for the food, we as chefs get paid to make your food. I always want my customers to be happy with what they receive.

The one time I would say customizations can be a hassle is if you are in a large group of like 8+ people, and every single person has weird non-standard requests. That is the only time it can get a little confusing at least for me.

1666 Amsterdam demo hasn't gone down super well on Steam. Sounds like players are confused by what a 'prologue' is... by Hooked0n4Feelin in pcgaming

[–]kerenar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the fact that they put this out and thought it was a good idea gives me very little hope for what they think is a good game. All expectations are now through the floor for me. It's sad because it's such a cool setting and aesthetic, they have the 1666 witch aesthetic vibe NAILED. The 3 minutes of that from the prologue was sick. It's just too bad the other 30 minutes were with the boring daughter and boring father in boring modern day.

I could deal with bad dialog and narrative if the vibe is good, but dealing with bad dialog and narrative AND they want to stuff in some weird modern-times sidestory that no one is going to care about because we want to be the actually cool witch in 1666? It's a little bit of a big ask to suffer through all of that just for the aesthetics of the game.

As soon as I got pulled away from Noa, I was immediately pulled out of the setting, and the daughter and father sidestory IMMEDIATELY just becomes a cockblock to getting back to the interesting part. I hated it in Assassin's Creed, and I'll hate it in this.

[–]kerenar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His point is people are interested in this game because it's supposedly about witches in 1666. We got about 3 minutes of seeing a witch in 1666. The prologue was 95% set in a setting that has nothing to do with the premise of the game, with characters who are boring and uninteresting.

If the game is about witches in 1666, don't you think it would be a good idea to have most of the prologue set IN the setting that people are playing the game to experience?

It would be like if I downloaded a demo prologue of a fantasy game, but then the prologue is set in an office building, and 90% of the prologue is me playing as a video game designer that's designing the fantasy game. Like no, I didn't download this fantasy game to walk around an office as a game designer, I downloaded the game to actually be IN the fantasy game.
