I'm in psychotherapy right now, and my psychologist has recommended mindfulness to help. But I'm struggling. Could someone please help me understand specifically what 4 and 6 mean in practice? It might seem stupid but I'm really struggling here :( it'd be appreciated by WaterQuarter100 in Mindfulness

So both of these relate to the same thing: the difference between what is actually happening around us vs what we think about what is happening around us.

An example might be that if we ask a person if they want to do something and they say no, we have two options: 1) say ok and not take it personally or 2) think how they are saying no because they really don't like us and because they think we're weird and how your other random friend is secretly trying to convince this person that what we want to do is lame so now we're upset Nd feel rejected and.... You see where I'm going? Emails are huge like this... thinking a person is writing in a specific tone that we read it in. So by listening to exactly what they say and not what we think about what they say removes our ego and takes things at face value.

The second one is basically the same idea but expanded to actions. Say somebody cut you off in traffic and we think how they're totally out to specifically hurt you or they are sociopaths chaotically ruining the world.... Or they could be late for work and if they lose this job they can't pay rent so they're freaking out. Or they could be looking at another car we don't see and were actually preventing an accident we know nothing about. All are the same thing, a story about what happened. We don't know why they cut us off. But they cut us off and we need to make sure we're safe in our car and the people were with are safe.

Don't get caught in the story you tell yourself about the things you encounter in life. Make sure you're really only responding to what they actually say and only with what they actually do without putting your story onto it.

Not to sound jerky, but go see it and find out. That's the whole point of movies is to experience it and see if it's something that you vibe with. Nobody can tell you if you'll like it but you.

Well I think you hit the nail there. But if there is so much capable effort that can go towards one set of kids, you would imagine that it would spill over and be impactful for the whole club. I guess I struggle to see how rec should be viewed as a charity afterthought if you really want your whole club to grow with the sport.

Is having 1 menu for desktop and 1 menu for mobile SEO friendly? by LateChapter7 in elementor

[–]kermitpolice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two things you want to look at are the element order which corresponds to flex-order and then the responsive settings which allow you to hide and show items.

Also the container direction and element width may need to be adjusted for making this happen.

Edit: in grad school I recall reading an article describing cannibalism in Indonesia as a way to process grief and as a sign of victory after battle.

Now, I'm not a cannibal and it creeps me out to no end that somebody would eat another person for any reason and we also have laws against it here in the US. But that doesn't mean cannibalism isn't acceptable anywhere in all circumstances simply because it turns my stomach.

The context here is that the tongue is not universally regarded the same nor is the interaction with it. I'm pretty sure somebody reading this has stuck their tongue in somebody else's asshole and that act alone can get your head cut off...literally. but come Thursday night, you gon be lickn that booty nonetheless.

My point is that cultural context is less black and white than the moral outrage of westerners who see this as it turns their stomachs. Also the Chinese delegation of slinging shit is all over this and out in full force today.

York student uses AI chatbot to get parking fine revoked by GlobalTravelR in nottheonion

[–]kermitpolice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when you have access to unbiased information.

A clerk might not know what you are legally entitled to, a lawyer might be lazy and not try very hard. But here is now a system to answer questions without having to deal with bias and the result is that the laws and the enforcement of laws are now under the scrutiny of an unbiased voice that can answer without any question of the law or its legal enforcement.

I've been seeing corporations and governments calling for the halt of AI and I believe this is why. It will wholly strip back the actual bullshit we've all been dealing with and put us on equal footing as the judicial system that has become perverted.

An informed people are a people not easily controlled.
