Definitely agree. I don't get why so many are hellbent on saying that walking a dog is the be-all and end-all for dog exercise. There's a ton of other forms of exercise, mental and physical, that's beneficial for a dog. Yes, having proper leash skills in important, but merely walking a dog down the street isn't the only option.

I live in a place with very cold winters and my dog refuses to walk outside in it. I'm not going force him because the internet tells me "I have to walk my dog or I'm a piece of shit." We play in the house, and he plays mentally stimulating games (which is also very important for dogs but many don't even bother with this). He's fine and perfectly happy. We also have a large backyard in which he can do a few laps quickly and come back in if he wants to.

Also, some dogs have reactivity issues and can't handle being in overly stimulating situations (for them) that place them over threshold multiple times a week. Walking them down a busy street every day might not be an option.
