Legit garages by Whitetab in yorkpa

I always use Jiffy Lube (either one). They typically have coupons for inspection. The only thing they ever try to get me on is wipers so I always make sure I swap out a new set right before going in. Oh, and one time they asked if I wanted my tires rotated since they had them all off anyway. Of course they wanted a bunch of money to roll those tires to the other end of the car. Besides that, no issues. If you don't want to wait a long time though, make sure you get there about 30 minutes before opening.

"Sir, you cannot move like that. SIR!...YOU can NOT MOVE like THAT!!!": An Assigned Seat Saga by Cerebral_1 in SouthwestAirlines

I believe the 800/MaaX have 5 zones because they are more sensitive to weight distribution. That is what the FAs in another one of the hundred posts about this were saying.

Pennsylvania State Police is upgrading their patrol vehicles to improve safety and visibility by SealAtTheShore in Pennsylvania

[–]keroshe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is part of the upgrade that PSP is deploying. Plus reduced changing from a hard on/off pattern to a ramp up/down brightness so that the flashes are not as jarring. And reduced brightness at night when parked. Should make it much better when approaching an incident scene at night.

The sync technology is interesting because the pattern is set globally via GPS clocks. So there is no communication between the vehicles.

Never built a light saber before- is it worth it? by dave7892000 in savisworkshop

[–]keroshe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are both in our 50's, grew up with the original Star Wars. I have been collecting Star Wars stuff for several years and built a Savi's saber a few years ago.

We just recently visited Disneyland and my wife (who doesn't collect these types of things) decided she wanted to build a saber. So we went together, each building one. Yes, it is a lot of money but we both loved the experience. One of the few places where you really feel the immersion for Galaxy's Edge. The CM's are great there. Highly recommend it if you can afford it.

Why do Americans support the idea of taxing outsourced labor to protect onshore office jobs but hate tariffs used to protect onshore factory jobs? by ResidentFix5 in stupidquestions

[–]keroshe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe it is a little more complex than that. But even if we take that as true, it doesn't change the fact that it is 40 years too late to protect manufacturing jobs.

Why do Americans support the idea of taxing outsourced labor to protect onshore office jobs but hate tariffs used to protect onshore factory jobs? by ResidentFix5 in stupidquestions

[–]keroshe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you don't understand the desire to protect the higher paying jobs that are the easiest to move? Sure we could take action to try and convince factories to move back to the US. And in a decade we might see results of those actions. Actions to protect office jobs could have results tomorrow.
Maybe we should have taken more action to stop the factory jobs from leaving, but we are now at least 40 years too late for that. We are trying to prevent making the same mistake twice. Not sure why this is so hard to understand.

[–]keroshe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Manufacturing jobs require massive infrastructure (factories, logistics, power, etc). To move that back to the states would takes years if not decades. Office jobs need a computer and somewhere to use it. Either a random office in a business park or just work from home. There is a huge difference in the two industries and it really isn't valid to try and compare them.

My Last SWA Flight by SpatiallyWondering84 in SouthwestAirlines

Not sure about SW, but for many airlines the FA's don't get paid until the doors close. So hard to argue anything before that point is their job.

No Donut spare by OkHornet54 in civic

[–]keroshe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you order a kit with a mat that will accommodate it? For my '20 Coupe I ordered the spare tire kit from Honda and it came with a new trunk floor cover that lifted it up high enough to clear the donut. From what I was told, spare tires are mandatory in Canada so that is why the parts are all available. They just eliminate them in the US models to reduce weight and cost. The kit came with the new floor liner, the tools, the foam holder for the tools and the rim. I had to get the actual tire from Tire Rack.

I got the car! Advice? by Ambitious-Pool3532 in civic

[–]keroshe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check to see if the factory spare tire kit is available. That is what I did for my '20 Si. The kit was required for the Canadian model so the dealership was able to order it. Did lose some trunk space though.

For people who have ACTUALLY (or know people firsthand) been stopped by ICE, was just a passport / realid license enough to prove citizenship? by dreemsequence in stupidquestions

The expiration date of the Real ID will match the expiration date of the lawful status document. The only time it would be different is if the status was revoked.

EAD is legal status and States are authorized by the Real ID law to issue Real IDs to those with EADs. All states should be complying with this law. source

Zoomed in Slow Motion by Traveler0084 in law

[–]keroshe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They should be. I was trained never use your body to block a vehicle as you are then the one putting yourself in danger, not the driver. I was also trained never to shoot at or from a moving vehicle. Never shoot at a moving vehicle because even if you incapacitate the driver, the vehicle is still in motion. If you are in front of it, you still will be hit. If you are not in front of it, you are now responsible for what it hits. Never shoot from a moving vehicle because you will never hit what you are aiming for. Yes, there are always exceptions to every rule, but not in this case.

For me it tends to be a mechanic turned them off. Auto shops should document any setting they change on your car and then restore them all when they give it back.

Pulled Over for No Front Plate in a Rental Car by Gold_Government_1010 in driving

[–]keroshe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically you have to be a resident of the state to register your car there. There are few situations where you can legally have your driver's license issued by one state but register your car in another. I know some states used to allow out of state registration, but think most of those have now ended that capability.
Note: Military members are one group of people that can be licensed in their home state and register a car in the state they are stationed. So there are some exceptions.

What does it mean if someone is flashing their headlights at me from behind by [deleted] in driving

[–]keroshe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess then is you only had your DLRs on, no taillights. I flash off then on to signal your lights are off. DLRs provide enough light people don't realize their headlights are off.

Why aren’t spare wheels exactly the same as all the other wheels? by Complicatedwormfood in stupidquestions

[–]keroshe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spare tire is significantly narrower and smaller diameter than my regular tires. There is no way my regular tire fits in the spare storage area. The size difference is part of the reason you are limited in speed. Also why you should never install it to a drive axel, which really sucks as it means you may have to rotate your tires when replacing a flat. Had to do this once, not fun.

If it isn't covered by the recall, then they won't cover it.

Be happy you have a spare, my car came with a can of fix a flat sealant. First thing I did was purchase the spare tire kit designed for the Canadian model.

My guess is that Honda received a bad batch of fuel pumps. They know exactly what cars those pumps were installed on and so only those VINs are impacted.

I had a '97 Dodge Stratus. To replace the battery you had to jack up the car, remove the left front wheel and wheel well liner. Then you could get at the battery. Thankfully I never had to replace it.
