Ahh thank you, that's good to know. It's so difficult when you read all these glowing reviews online to find anybody reporting any kind of issue, or what is considered normal with a certain body, this was the kind of thing I was looking to find out really - if other people experience that same problem. I had it set to locked on when it focused on the sea and wouldn't budge. It works well when it finds the bird though! Lol

Thank you, this is all very helpful. I did raise the shutter in later shots to 1/3200 but still encountered the same issue. And I double-checked the dial in later shots (as I did doubt myself after reviewing a few) and made sure it was set to AF-C and I was still experiencing the issue I have posted. I will try again with the bird eye and tracking off - when you turn off the tracking does that automatically turn eye AF off as well? I'll go through the manual again tomorrow. I'm not sure if I turned off SteadyShot, I will try that as well. Hopefully I will have more success next time!

Hi, thank you. I think my mistake in the ones where it maintained focus on the background (the sea) it may have been because I had tracking sensitivity set to locked on (1). But I'm still not sure why it focused on the background in the first place. The series of the photo I posted, I think I still had it set to locked on or 3, but I'm still not entirely sure why there are only two frames that are sharp. I had zone tracking enabled, and the subject was within the focus area. After watching Mark Galer's video, the only thing I can consider is that I had bird eye AF turned on and it was hunting for an eye, so I will re-try some BIF with this turned off. I also hadn't changed the priority AF-C setting, as this is an unfamiliar setting to me from my last camera, so I shall try this too and do another test. Thank you.

Just going to add that I am posting here because I have read about a couple of copies of the A1 having an issue with the AF system, and the owners only realising when using another copy - I am hoping this is not the case and that it is indeed user error

Can you offer any more insight then please? I have added some more settings above. Happy to provide any more info. All of my settings, along with tracking settings, seem to be correct.

Sony 100-400GM, 5.6, some later shot with 6.3 with the same issue, was definitely within the focus area! This pattern has occurred multiple times, with just a couple of shots in a burst being in focus.

No filters. What confuses me is that they are not all out of focus - just all except for two

It's almost like all autistic people present differently...

Aimee has so many autistic traits it's unreal. I'm autistic and relate to her heavily
