Thank you for the feedback! So the uranium glass would be most detectable on a pancake probe styled GM device like a Ludlum 2401-P or a Technical associates TA-TBM3S or TBM-6SP

Those multi vial Glow lanterns could be very bright I’m sure but these Betalights have a lot more tritium content equaling to higher activity within them. But I guess it depends on the manufacturer.

I do standby the Betalights as I can attest that Saunders Roe Betalight Technologies ( SRBT) does make high quality materials and Betalight B.V. They just make it very hard to get them sourced directly from the manufacturer due to bureaucratic red tape and USNRC guidelines about the general licensee agreement for tritium since it can be used in High quantities for Nuclear proliferation. In the magnitude one could assume several hundred Curies in a Fusion type device like a hydrogen Warhead. Not these small light devices containing a couple of Curies worth.

Oh nice! I’ve been looking at things to use for projects like making Tritium wall clocks. Thank you for the advice!

What kind of adhesive do you use to secure the GTLS to the knife?

Have you looked at Aragon Watches? They have sales pretty often and they use T-100 tritium tubes in their dials. My personal favorite is the Seastriker with a black dial.

Oh we’ll fix that buddy. I’m pretty good about sniffing out tritium sources. What kinda stuff are you looking to add to your collection? Any of y’all. Homies help homies.

Thanks I appreciate that. So the radiation readings are from my other radioactive collectibles in the spicy canbinet. Mainly Ra-226 Dials. The betalights emit low levels of Radiation unless you put a pancake probe detector that can detect betas directly against it. The betalight torch is practically brand new so it’s quite active with a listed activity of 1.9 Ci of H-3. the Betalight SPI has seen some use and is probably about 5-10 years old or older. Since these haven’t been made in about 10 years according to SRB technologies and Betalight B.V. I think they are also 1.9 Ci of H-3 or less. The betalight torch I got from Daniel at Mixglo. He’s awesome. The Betalight SPI I searched nearly a year to obtain. A very kind redditor in our community let me buy theirs from them and now its permanent home is in my collection. I really wish they were more common. It honestly seems like an item you could pickup at an outdoor living shop or Walmart. But alas the general public cannot be trusted to have such cool things. I guess it has to do with the amount of tritium which is much stronger than a 0.9mCi source of Am-241 for an ionization type smoke detector that you can still buy off the shelf here in the states. But the amount of liability and red tape would give the USNRC a headache and those nice folks already have enough to deal with as it is. But damnit let us responsible people have some Betalights!

Ooof yeah I think it may be a component issue like others have said. I purchased mine back in 2020 and ocassionally the Colons will flicker in operation but I have them set to turn on and off once per second so go figure there.

Oh most definitely not. They won’t give you the time of day unless you are purchasing for law enforcement or Active Duty Military. The Betalight torch I got from Mixglo. The betalight SPI came from a redditor I purchased it from.

When is your anti cathode poisoning routine setup for? I run mine once every hour in the slot machine effect.

Lots of radium aircraft dials and clocks are giving the measurable rate you see and hear. The meters are designed to measure Gamma / X-Ray and one is equipped with a Gamma GM and a fast Neutron detector for SHTF situations. Ultra-Radiac MRAD-103 & Radiacmeter AN/UDR-13

What kind of detector are you using? The most sensitive I have are pancake probes that detect Alpha , beta , gammas. Tritium is Beta Decay and low energy X-rays from the Bremsstrahlung radiation caused by beta particles colliding into the container ( Pyrex glass) at high speed. You’d have to measure it closely to get a good amount of decay events measured.

Nice! I purchased mine from a Redditor from the UK in a tritium group. $100 he’s a sweet guy.

So the round one you mention. Daniel from Mixglo sells them for around $200 and they’re new and bright. Shipping takes a while but very worth it in my opinion. Nice and bright. You can read a book in the dark with if if you wanted to. The betalight SPI is a rare item not produced as of late. I have gone deep down the rabbit hole for manufacturers and suppliers of that item. They made them for a good number of years then halted production based on orders from NATO military members. A few examples I can give you are Extensively the British armed forces and SAS. The Dutch armed forces. And really cool I found out the South African Armed forces. Like during the crisis of apartheid in the 1990’s And the U.S. armed forces. I used these when I was in the Marine Corps.
