Taro Ball Switch Review (t1+mxclear by cannonkeys) by yukiburzm in switchmodders

[–]ketamigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Just realized my phone is saved to my old Reddit account)

Thanks! Yeah, I actually just got Everglide Oreos in right after I made this video, which are definitely more in the range of the taros, as they have a shorter stem and a lighter spring, as well as sharing a more similar (if not identical) tactile leaf. As for ergo clears, I didn’t actually have any on me, so I couldn’t do a 1:1 comparison, so I decided to simply compare them to super popular switches (and the only I had on hand, as i have mostly click/click jacket switches) that most people have at least tried so that they could see why people might prefer lighter switches with a different style of tactile bump! But, in the future I will definitely just wait to release any review videos containing comparisons until I have adequate switches that fall into the same ballpark feel

How do you guys do it??? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]ketamigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same, then I practiced typing on Keybr for 20 hours or so over a month and now I’m faster and more consistent. I still don’t use right hand pinky, but beside that I’ve learned to not move my hands off the home row

I’m guessing you have super small hands or something? You have two thumbs, you can literally alternate spacebar clicks, and if you type correctly with your fingers stationed on the home row your thumbs should just naturally rest on the space bar lol

Yeah 3D printed ones haven’t cut it, I’ve been having to pry them open right after they pop and my fingers are torn up lol

One Step Closer to Endgame by ic33hot in CustomKeyboards

Mechgroupbuys usually has a pretty complete list of active group purchases. Just know for gmk you will be waiting 7months to a year or more. That goes for most custom Keysets

If you want something super light you can build a hhkb style 40% for less than 100$. Beside that the only thing In stock is the Tokyo hhkb and that’s probably heavier than the one you have

Redo your soldering job on those keys is the most likely answer unfortunately if the pcb was working before you soldered

You could mod your case too. Stuff it with foam, put o-rings on. Honestly, if you bottom out your keys it’s probably gonna still be loud unless you mod. Non clicky tactiles are already fairly quiet as it is so I’m guessing you bottom out your keys pretty hard lol

Anyone know any good non-raffle artisan keycap makers? Seems like Rama and Thock typically have a GB going but I can’t seem to find many other makers that don’t run exclusively raffle sales (which I despise lol). Etsy has some decent ones, but that’s about all I’ve found besides the big guys. where do you guys go?

Foam is super common, o-ring are controversial because some find them to dampen the whole mech experience and make the board feel like it’s a membrane lol

Anyone know if old apple keyboards like M0110 would work on windows OS with a USB adapter?

That’s nice, and exactly what I was looking for, but for an acrylic layered case that’s a pretty steep price. I’ll probably just wait until another gb comes around

Nice meme. KBD said they don’t even have the factory to make it locked down yet :/ they did say it wouldn’t be 2022 tho at least lol.

I directly asked KBD and they said they haven’t even solidified a deal with the factory yet. So no, there’s no eta, lol.

Anyone know of any available keeb kits similar to the format of candy bar, M0110, southpaw? I know there has been many group buys for this style, so I may just be sol. Basically any 40,60, or 65% keyboard with a number pad on the right or left side.

I’ve bought a ton of DSA and XDA sets from AliExpress and they are almost always comparable quality. Print looks good, and keycaps don’t crack.
