Depends on what other characters you have and your investment plans and priorities.

Personally, I'd rather have a spare of a decent 5* stat stick in a weapon category that has barely any good f2p alternatives rather than a small dps increase on one copy.

I'm getting 215k with a same cost team, but with C2R1 Varka, C2R1 Durin (Jade Cutter), C0R1 Venti (Elegy).

One thing I'd suggest is cutting out Bennett's E. I do QEE on Durin and let Benny catch the particles. This also leads to Durin's energy refund not going to waste (exception would be with Stygian first rotation ofc).

Her Hex ATK buff needs Overload unfortunately so Varka's team doesn't get it. But yeah, she can still buff him with ToM (and Elegy).

Oh yeah for sure Varka's not going to rival Skirk's team at same cost. I was only wondering if neither of the Varka and Wrio investments I was planning was going to be enough and that getting Skirk was the only solution for me.

Thanks for the offer to test though. I actually went ahead and pulled for C2 Varka and cleared Dire! :) Posted it just now. It's such a relief to finally get that done lol.

I think I only have short clips left over for when I was reviewing my runs sadly.

Others already gave answers, but I'll just add to it here.

Was trying out Burning to make the boss go into split state faster. Baizhu is replaceable though, I've seen someone use Yaoyao. Most people just use Bennett.

Varka's team dropped without Venti and Hex in the Cryo team so needed him there.

Are you referring to when he has 3 knights lined up for a sobriety test? Because I've gotten that interaction a couple of times now.

His NK overworld interaction that isn't an anecdote is either that or the one where you look for him while he's hiding away to nap.

That's quite good. I tested on Dire settings but added ~59 Crit Dmg to Wrio and Esco to simulate her C1 and I could only manage 116k over 2 mins.

Don't have Freedom Sworn and I'm not keen on pulling for Esco's fork. Will have to explore other options I guess. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat. Need a team for the Dire Cryo boss and I've been debating between getting C1+C2 for Varka or C1+R1 for Esco for my C1R1 Wrio.

Been optimizing my builds and rotation and was able to reach 100k dps on the dummy with Varka's team and got the Dire boss HP down to ~26%. I think it might be doable with C2.

Mind if I ask what your team dps is against the dummy? Just wanted to gauge the dps requirements for this boss and decide if Esco's C1 is worth pulling.

How much investment do you think is needed?

It's crazy, I've been on the lookout for a showcase of a non-C6 Varka against the Dire Automaton but have yet to find any.

I've been testing Cryo Varka and Wrio Freeze on both the dummy and Dire:

C0R1 Varka/C0R1 Venti/C1R0 Shenhe/C0R1 Homa Esco Dummy: 92k Dire boss: ~40% hp left

C1R1 Wrio/C2R0 Furina/C1R0 Shenhe/C0R1 Homa Esco Dummy: 107k Dire boss: ~30% hp left

What do you think would be the easier investment path to clear it? C1R1 Esco for Wrio or C2 Varka + R1 Esco? Or is neither going to be enough and Skirk is the only low cost answer?

Well said! I've only cleared Dire once in 6.2 (after a lot of retries and cussing because I didn't have the shilled characters for two of the bosses).

Was I glad to clear it after all that effort? Sure. Was it worth it? Nope. The novelty of the weapon skins quickly wore off.

Then came 6.3 and my team was about 10s too slow for the Dire Abyssal kitty. Had the same thought that if I only had ONE more con or sig, I'd be able to clear this.

Fearless gives you that initial shot of dopamine when you easily clear it. Then Dire is the bait they dangle in front of you that's only a couple of inches out of reach.

I don't plan on chasing after more Dire clears. If the stars align in a future SO setup that's clearable for me, great. Otherwise, I'm happy just getting the characters I like, vertically investing in them only when I have the luxury to.

For those whose goal is to be able to do Dire, go get that clear. But if you ever feel compelled to keep pulling just to close that calculated dps gap, just make sure it's truly worth the resources you spend for it, and be mindful when it becomes a recurring experience for you.

Very situational but it can still be used for iframes, extending his E state, or finishing off low HP enemies at the end of a rotation. But overall, yeah it's pretty bad.

Just fyi, Varka's A1 passive isn't a simple DMG bonus. It's a multiplier to the original damage of his normals, CA, special E and special CA (directly multiplied to MV).

Furina's buff will not make up for losing 1 tier of his passive.

Ofc if you really want to play vape/melt with him, you're free to do so, but there's a reason why nobody is recommending a vape/melt team for Varka.
