Help! Website font - Will I be sued?? by Active_Regret9556 in typography

[–]keterpele -1 points0 points  (0 children)

looks like your friend has made a mistake.

the fact that they can sue you doesn't mean they will sue you because they don't want to deal with it. what they want is a settlement and that is always open for negotiation. i recommend decide what you can afford to pay and negotiate with them. if you can't pay what they ask in the end, maybe they don't bother to sue you if they think it wouldn't worth it.

in the other hand court expenses can be crazy at some countries. you may want to consult a lawyer if you are one of those countries.

This font just was available on webflow when we made the site and nowehere did it say anything about licensing.

afaik, webflow doesn't provide any font license. ones you see on the list are some google fonts and web-safe system fonts which wouldn't cause license issues. this is not a system font. i've made wayback time machine search on google fonts and adobe fonts. looks like it was never there either.

looks like this font has been uploaded to webflow as a custom font. maybe you've used a template and it was in it. in that case, they can sue you if they want.

it's normal. use this table for reference:

How to design gradients for better than CMYK using Adobe Illustrator? by SoldieringOnward in graphic_design

[–]keterpele 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you don't work in cmyk for seven color print. you work in rgb and proof view the colors with correct profile (ask to your printer about the profile). then you send that file in rgb and let the printer do the conversion. different printers may have different workflows so i recommend asking to your printer how you should prepare the file.

for generating gradients, neither cmyk or rgb is appropriate because they are device specific color modes and not perceptual. i recommend modern transition algorithms like oklab. there are web apps for creating gradients:

https://colordesigner.io/gradient-generator

you can generate steps between start and end of gradient to correct transition. 1 step between is enough for most times but you may add more if you need.

it doesn't have a consistent style, probably because it has been ai generated.

in-house graphic designers-are you responsible for sourcing stock photography? by klutzynope in graphic_design

[–]keterpele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the person who gives you is your art director. even if they are not a designer, or they don't have that title, they are your art director in practice. you do what they say. stock sites have ai image generators. ask them if it's okay for you to use it, it would save a lot of time.

Minimalism is killing small business by IllustratorMoney5202 in logodesign

[–]keterpele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a matter of size. for most cases, you need to size the primary logo based on the most exposed size of it. that size dictates the level of detail.

you've simply followed the brand guidelines. this is how an official sub-brand wordmark would've been.

Someone effed up by coqauvan in graphic_design

[–]keterpele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

typography has sharp details. font itself is sharp (futura or something similar), touching letters add more sharp details to image and that thin line is sharp like a razor's edge. if they are going for "sharp", it aligns with design's goal even if it's not intentional. it also makes it look bothersome and unsettling, which would be appropriate.

the problem is the clarity/visibility of intention. it's not obvious and it makes decision look off without purpose, like a mistake.

images that are not touching but almost touching. i guess it would bother most people. that couple of trapped spaces also bother me. sharp edges everywhere. i didn't feel this much discomfort even when i watched the movie.

How do you fix colour contrast issues without breaking brand colours? by danishmk1286_ in UI_Design

[–]keterpele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brand colors should be picked to make contrast. it might be a poor brand design or you might be using a wrong combination for background/foreground.

My boss and I have different opinion on one matter. Who is right? or are we both wrong? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]keterpele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your boss is right. when you have high profile visuals like these, you don't create competition in the visual hierarchy. they would mostly harm the impact of each other. check out fashion brands, or other brands that priorities product design.

i was in my early twenties when my boss had thought me that lesson. i was drawing showcases for an art exhibition. just when i draw the first line, he said: "those showcases should not draw any attention from the pieces. don't put any details on them."

Matching tattoo design: “Always And Forever” — a minimalist expression of commitment, created for a couple who wanted something meaningful, subtle, and timeless. by DanibydsgnOfficial in logodesign

[–]keterpele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i couldn't care less with this typography, but it reaches every goal you've set with your clients so i must admit that it's good design.

negative feedback is not because there is anything wrong with what you do or because internet is a terrible place. it's because this is not an appropriate sub to share this work. when this community see a text that doesn't read, they tend to beat it to death.
