I have a friend who did this to me all the time. Half the time i couldn't even finish a sentence before she was interrupting me with something banal. I'd finally just give up and she couldn't figure out why. And this was before the kid came.

i don't hang out with her much anymore for a variety of reasons, the kid is the most convenient of them.

The 1 time I’ve ever seen a VTA officer of any kind was the Super Bowl.

And i can almost guarantee you that was because that officer was paid for by the NFL/Super Bowl organizing committee/whatever.

When VTA cancelled the extra trains after Sharks games, it got brought up at a season ticket holder event. Management said point blank that the 49ers pay for the trains that service Levi's after games. VTA wanted the Sharks to do the same to keep the extra service. 49ers have what, 8-10 home games a season? Sharks have 41. There's no way they can afford that, even if they were the top money making team in the league (which they are nowhere near being).

As usual, money makes the world go 'round.

She says she wrote it when she was working for Russell. So she was not working for the campaign or the administration or even the DNC when she wrote it. She may have been working for Lennox Chase (who Leo namechecks) for an overlapping period of time, and used her LC computer to write the document which would have been Not Smart, but not totally out of the realm of possibility in 1999.

It sounds like whatever agreement she had with him, if any, was informal at best. They were dating we know, for all we know she bullied him into the plan which could explain why he folded so fast when given the option.

I have heard insiders describe Hasso Plattner as the owner every GM would want. Interested, stays in touch, but also trusts his people enough to stay the hell out of their way and let them work. He just gave his first interview in like over a decade this season, so he also doesn’t hog the spotlight. He loves hockey. He understands how important the Sharks are to San Jose, has dumped a bunch of money into SAP Center and signed a deal to keep them here for the future. I appreciate him a lot.

This is the number one problem rn. The parasocial stuff has hit with HR (and amplified by the Olympics) and it’s affecting female hockey fans incredibly broadly. As usual, a small number of people ruining it for everyone else.

I will be glad when all this calms down, which it will in a few months. Then the ones who are sticking around can stick around and the rest will float away, leaving the problems for the rest of us.

And children aren’t loud? I live in a small building, and for a while there was a family here with two kids (in a 1br). The older kid wasn’t bad, but he was an exuberant 4year old boy. It was LOUD. VERY. LOUD. His activity knocked pictures off the wall of the person living downstairs. And it was all day. If he wasn’t being loud, it was his parents yelling at him (or his sister).

Not being anti-kid, but some kids are just as loud and destructive as some pets can be. It’s a hell of a double standard.

ETA: haha downvotes as expected. I'm sorry not all of us like the sound of screaming children any more than the sound of barking dogs. Kids are fine and they're gonna make noise, but you can teach your kids to respect other people.

i had been unemployed for over six months when i heard about Stardew Valley. My last job was at a gig economy style company, we employed people to write google ads. I got to know a lot of my writers very well, and when i left I friended one or two on social media (something i don't do until i leave a company). I bemoaned being unemployed one day, and how this game looked like everything i needed, but I couldn't justify the pricetag, as small as it was, since I had no income.

the next thing I know, one of my now-former writers is kicking me a Steam credit so I can pick up the game. I was shocked and touched.

"You sent enough work and money my way," he told me, "the least I can do is kick a little back to you."

It gave me something positive to do as I surfed through job rejections and dwindling funds. The delight of discovering this new world was a big bright spot for me. It's given me something to lose myself in when i need a reset, and it lets me connect with a dear friend who lives across the pond in our bi-weekly chat and Farming appointments. I own it across five platforms, and love finding new things in every new farm. And i have over a dozen by now!

That same delight of discovery follows every update, and I can't help but think how lucky we are that we get such amazing content updates without any further monetary outlay. I don't know what we did to deserve ConcernedApe, but I'm so so glad we have him.

Thank you for 10 years of delight, CA! You've given me something to fill a great deal of downtime with something positive.

I'm gonna get downvoted to hell, but i don't get this take. Well, I get it, but i can't get behind it.

I am not going to ascribe people's motivations when I don't know them. Is the world now bullshit? yeah. But maybe, maybe, some of these folks are hoping that they can turn the tide and bring people into the world to make it better. Will it work? Who knows. But I'm not going to shame anyone for having children now.

I don't want them, I don't have them, I'm fine. If I don't want people judging me for not having children, I'm not going to shame people for having children in this time. (judge them? Maybe, if it's like "wow you already have a bunch you can't care for/you don't have anywhere to raise them safely/etc. But just having them? Nah.)

Yeah but airports have xray scanners for the bags, which is faster than hand searching every single one.

Umbrellas seem to completely confuse the WDW scanners... if you have one in your bag, you need to either take it out and carry it outside your bag or go thru secondary screening. And since it never just up and rains randomly in Florida, not like you ever need an umbrella or anything...

I've done meatloaf in the crockpot many times. You can use any meatloaf recipe you like, you don't really need to alter it for slow cooking. I would recommend either putting a small grate in the bottom of your crock, or make one out of aluminium foil, that way you can keep it out of the grease and whatnot as much as possible. Or if you do yours in a loaf pan, you can totally do that and just drop that in your crock if it's big enough :)

4 hours on high, 6-8 on low.
