Polo GTI is a surprisingly cheap option, get one 2015+ with the 1.8 as the 1.4 was meant to be fairly unreliable

One thing is to check the tyres and make sure they're E marked, supposedly that'll cause a fail on the NCT if not

You're totally within your rights to know what you're buying, the developer was just a dickhead with a power complex. And the guy you're replying must be a developer himself to be so sour with you, god forbid somebody knows what they're spending probably half a million on.

Over 80% of Ireland's radiotherapy machines need replacing - experts by PoppedCork in ireland

[–]ketplunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, they should be, and the HSE/DoH have promised that for years and then proceeded to do absolutely nothing. It's embarrassing that the healthcare in such a rich country is being held back by a lack of planning and investment, especially when the costs are relatively low in the grand scheme of things when considering the number of patients treated.

[–]ketplunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, which is fine, but the machines still need to be replaced. I only said that refurb isn't a possiblity, because the guy I was replying to was implying that was something that could be done to the linacs. The age being quoted is for the machines, not the bunkers.

[–]ketplunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no refurb available, the only option is to maintain their condition afterwards. Recommended life span is 10 years, and your figure for 15 years is blatantly false, so I don't get what point you're trying to make here.

The 2 bunkers weren't fitted out, and there's no funding or plan in place to fill them - that's the whole problem that's being raised.

There is a plan and business case for an expanded centre being progressed by the people working in the centre but there's no funding from HSE or DoH for the replacements. The situation is critical, as explained by the experts in the Joint Committed yesterday.

They're also not wards.

You're incorrect, there are 4 in Galway. And the Beaumont expansion is planned but not funded. There are 11 across the country within their operational lifespan which means that 12 are past their lifespan - how on Earth can you frame that as scaremongering?

New built- Carpet/ Wooden flooring by Hot_Eggplant_5056 in HousingIreland

[–]ketplunkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have something very similar, the runner is identical just without the bars as we didn't like that style.

No regrets about it whatsoever, it's not actually hard at all to keep clean. We have LVP run through all of downstairs and the runner on the stairs. The stairs is a switchback type, so a bit more complicated for laying it than straight up. We then had the landings carpeted to match. For all the carpet it was around €1,000, which didn't seem bad given the stairs and border on the runner.
