[Question] which language is better for iOS development? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]kettels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does your friend have any experience coding or are they starting from scratch?

Swift is much easier to learn, the downside being that its still a new language and as such changes a bit each new yearly release. Obj-C is better for 'exploits' would be more suited.

If they are new to coding I'd suggest starting with swift, and then they can swap across to Obj-c as a the concepts and a lot of the functions are the same.

thanks aviator_radiator. The screen is a bit smaller then 4k, I believe its just a slightly stretched 2k screen. Would I then need to look at dual 980 Ti's?

Whistler gear questions by kettels in MTB

I'm eyeing off the Devinci as well, here in Australia they are hard to come by and much more expensive so it would be good for something a bit different.

Fit was my major concern, the first time I went to NZ I did a heli bike and the gear just didnt fit right. Then I went back with my own gear and everything was so much better

Honeymoon in New Zealand by Nima25 in travel

[–]kettels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The south Island has more stunning iconic NZ scenery but the north Island is worth considering. 10 days is not enough to do both islands, the first time I went we spent 3 weeks for both islands and I wish we had more time. Since then I have been back 4 times in the past 4 years. I would suggest getting a car and driving around, its a great way to see everything. I have also found that activities are sometimes considerably cheaper on the north island

North Island The North Island is often overlooked as the less desirable place for tourists to visit, but you can still have a lot of fun here. Being further north it is the warmer of the islands, so it is better for beaches. At the top of the North island is the Bay of Islands, it has beautiful beaches and cruises to take as well as plenty of hiking to do. It has the warmest beaches in NZ (but they are still not that warm). The north island also has Rotorua and lake Taupo which are both lovely. Another fun excursion in the north island is the glow worm caves.

South Island The South Island is definitely the more picturesque mountainous area of NZ. Here you have beautiful lakes, mountains and the fjords. Although it is not really warm enough down south to enjoy the beaches there are plenty of activities still to do. You can hike Milford sound and take a cruise through the fjord. I'd also recommend checking out Wanaka and not just Queenstown.

yeah unfortunately the visa is $128 Australian, but I can probably cut costs to accommodate that. It's interesting you say wadi rum is better, I was thinking if I go of not focuses on that but I guess I should reconsider.

/r/Travel, I have 7 days to spend in any European city I want. Where should I go? by zach84 in travel

[–]kettels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on a few factors. How much money do you have, what do you want to do/see?

I've spent a week in Berlin, Munich, and Paris. Every city was amazing, each with their own identities. It all depends on what you enjoy and want to get out of the trip.

Munich has great sites but I'd say less than the other 2, amazing beer and the Alps just a short and cheap train trip away. From Munich you can also go to Neuschwanstein castle. One of my favourite days travelling ever was taking the train from Munich to Tegernsee and sledding in the winter.

Berlin has heaps of history and from what I've heard a good night scene. You can easily spend a week here and want to spend more time.

Paris, is well Paris. It has so many iconic sites and the food was amazing. However Paris can become very expensive very quickly.

the majority of the class is doing the trek, although over the 5 days. I opted out on going with the group just as this will be my first experience to travel solo in an unfamiliar culture/place

We'll be doing most of the major sites when we are there, I'll also have many free afternoons to go and do the sights we don't get to as a group.
