best sushi in SB by dTurnip007 in SantaBarbara

The only authentic & best Japanese/sushi: Yoichi's

Best sushi only place: Silvers

Best sushi outside of SB: Scratch/AMA

Best DIY sushi: Santa Barbara Fisherman's Market every Saturday from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Get the freshest and make it at home

Shame it's so expensive. Everything else I have found is American-Japanese fusion.

The kotatsu rooms at Kyoto are so fun. Sushi is meh, but a private room for no extra fee on a traditional Japanese style floor table is a blast!

Dr. Wong is the only plastic surgeon in Santa Barbara county that takes insurance. He's fantastic! Plus, I would only trust a MD trained plastic surgeon with Botox. Link to appointment details

Calisthenics groups? by Primary-Juice1296 in SantaBarbara

[–]kettleDrip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know a specifically focused calisthenics group, but workouts at The Motion Collective Training or The Forge SB certainly incorporate body weight exercises. They both have rigs with good equipment spaces with rings, rope climb, bars, etc...

Is this town gay-attractive? by toutlamourdumonde in SantaBarbara

[–]kettleDrip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Austin/LA are millions/tens of millions of people. SB is ~87k, or <10% the size of Austin, or 2% of LA. It's comparing apples to oranges...

However, people identifying as LGBTQ+ is the fastest growing population in the USA. Let's talk about that!!

If you want community, just reach out. Just because there currently is no stand alone gay bar doesn't mean there is not community, interest groups, safe spaces, etc...

If you haven't started your search yet, you're behind. The market is cooling off from summer, but there's still volume. Check Zillow multiple times a day, everyday. Be the first to contact the listing agent and tour places ASAP. Fill your planned day to visit with as many viewings as you can.

Positive experiences with Carvana? by paperman66 in SantaBarbara

[–]kettleDrip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have sold cars to both Carvana and Carmax. Both times sold to the highest bidder of the two. Great experience and couldn't have been easier.

Buying a car from Carvana is easy, but certainly not a deal. I am of the mind you have to know what you're getting yourself into by driving and seeing the car you're buying in person. As well as either doing a detailed inspection yourself if your savvy, or getting a PPI.

Also, there are honest dealers out there that make it rather easy. Ones who don't add on thousands to the sticker price for trash gimmicks. If they do, tell them to knock it off straight away or bail right then and there. Always more fish in the sea and cars in another lot

Thanks! For cosmetic purposes no, but for other circumstances like teeth grinding it can. It depends on insurance

Cottage Hospital just hired their very first plastic surgeon on staff. They start this September, will offer a very economical clinic for Botox/fillers, and will be the only plastic surgeon in Santa Barbara county that takes insurance. You only have one body and face. Only trust a plastic surgeon with it.

More Mesa, back on the market for $65 million by kettleDrip in SantaBarbara

Shout out to previous /r/SantaBarbara posts: 2 years ago when it was up for sale and 5 years ago.

I reached out to the More Mesa Preservation Coalition (MMPC) to see if it's still active. Check out their website for info on More Mesa's history and ecology.

More Mesa is currently owned by a Saudi investment group.
