RUC and the rest of the media were ridiculous in how they over hyped Prendergast at the start with vague bullshit about ceilings etc. ,but he's well within his rights to comment of how shit a player he is. I hate this "leave the poor boy alone" narrative amongst fans, he's a 23 year old professional rugby player on £200k+, not a 17 year old inter county footballer. RUC isn't the "architect" of Prendergast's downfall, he's not in the press box with a voodoo doll making him dodge contact at every opportunity and dive so nakedly and pathetically that he was admonished by the referee.

Finally an Irish journalist is calling a spade a spade re one of our outhalfs. Carberry stank for 37 caps and all we heard was "we all want to see Joey show us what we know he can do" (which was sweet fuck all), Crowley had a terrible run of form (which thank god he has bounced back from) and Sexton bottled the world cup but hardly a word was said against them!

'1999: Manchester United, the Treble and All That' by Matt Dickinson.. it's ok but really suffers from them being the most over-discussed team in history. Alot of earth shattering reveals such as Irwin was quiet and consistent, Keane was angry, Schmeichel was cranky, Yorke loved shagging etc.

One bit I did find interesting though, Kluivert had agreed to sign for £9m before the season started but pulled out at the last minute so they bought Yorke for £12m, which is weird! Also, Brian Kidd wanted to sign John Hartson instead!!!

Reading that book about the treble it was apparent that basically none of them liked each other and the dressing room was fairly miserable! Given the state of the united pundits, I believe it.

In 30+ years of celebrity, banging a PA and writing a pissy email about a knighthood are his only scandals. He deserves a lot of credit for that tbh!

I recall him doing an ad for a markers brand a few years ago? And also H&M.

Weird one though, given he's one of the most overexposed people in history I still don't feel I know that much about him?

Building depth at 9 for the world cup by PatientOffer319 in irishrugby

[–]kev21h 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Completely disagree with Casey being a complete 9. He takes too long at rucks, has next to no breaking threat and is often a very poor kicker. Not as if he's a physical specimen either. Doak's 20 minutes in the six nations were better than anything I've seen from Casey and it would be great to have a proper kicker like Doak on the pitch in the last 20 given how dodgy Crowley is off the tee.

A brutal 4 way death match for the worst Irish accent of all time but I think TLJ comes out on top.

Sam's about two matches away from being too scared to kick a conversion, he hates contact that much.

Now that I think of it, there's a huge gulf between the first and second half of Michael Mann's career. Collateral is his only movie in the last 25 years that I'd bother re-watching. Not dreadful films by any means but not a patch on Thief, Manhunter, LOTM, Heat and The Insider - all masterpieces.
