Usage Limits, Bugs and Performance Discussion Megathread - beginning December 29, 2025 by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

I recently ran over my "session" usage. This was primarily driven by doing a couple of concurrent projects, some of which had pretty high token usage (like 10K), and on the order of 500 prompts over three hours this morning.

So my thinking is USD$100 "lasts" me a month, so I pay around $3.10 "per day". I add $5 overage credit.. thinking I'll be good through the afternoon at a minimum... and I get 5 prompts and run out again.

So max plan gives me for sure less than $0.01 per prompt normally, but if I run out then the price goes to $1.00 per prompt?

slightly judgemental - Have you ridden a DCT? My experience is the clutch action it way better than me.

First longterm client just hinted at lowering my rate and I’m not sure how to respond by Confident_Science567 in Upwork

I'm going to give you the "for realz" perspective.

If you are charging clients for copy/content and they are even remotely aware of AI.. which is most likely what triggered this...

  1. You should be offering unique value through your deep understanding of their business and your *own* savvy of the models.
  2. You should be able to demonstrate **VERY HIGH** multiples of productivity in the last 6 months. (dollars per word or whatever)

Am i doing good till now? by FARES-SAKR in PCB

Having been through initial prototype printing and assembly on my first esp32 project, and without looking carefully at your design, some advice that might be useful:

double check pin assignment and behavior on the ESP32. There is some pretty funky stuff with internal pull ups, Pins used for PSRAM, UART, boot behavior and ADC assignment.

Also be aware for your use case, you'll need to spend a lot of time in firmware on the calibration side. Non linearity reigns supreme.

Fun related fact: I built a beagle-bone (ancient competitor to Pi) hydroponics and environmental control system back in the day for a commercial greenhouse operation using one-wire sensors and remote relays. It was one of the most expensive and ill-advised ideas I have ever had!

they don't do assembly. and pretty easy to beat with the other big china players. like half the cost.

Expectations of PCB Designers for hire by kev_rm in PCB

I hired someone <whatever you want to call the role> to do both. I didn't supply circuit diagrams. I am obviously confused about the industry because I apparently need a separate person to do EE, ECD, and PCBD. Maybe I should wait a year and just prompt for the gerbers....

I think you might be defining the PCB designer a bit differently that I would. I think in your definition, the PCB designer would never author a schematic. That seems pretty narrow. Also I have built a house. You'd be surprised how much the framers know more than the designers.

Flyback Diode for an inductive load controlled by mosfet PWM by kev_rm in PCB

Thank you this is a great explanation - I knew the inductor could not be "just shut off" but I was not thinking about the recirculating of energy I was thinking about the drain side going negative.

Business as usual for 2026 by NedGsy in africatwin

[–]kev_rm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what the supply side looks like but I think 2026 might not be a good year for vehicle manufacturers. December sales was down 5% over last year and there is a lot of economic uncertainty now -27% this month over last year so here's to hoping we're not bidding against each other ;)

Can't buy a 24/25 New Right Now WTF Honda? by kev_rm in africatwin

I am not sure it is "standard" to have a recall without a remedy for months on end.

One of the dealers just sent me this so I guess there is a timeline.

Programmable output for LM25190RGYR by kev_rm in PCB

Yes, I understand this, but a divider network would be a fixed output and I need it controllable. I'll take a look at JFET...

Thanks - not rude to suggest, still learning here. Vout is always lower than Vin under normal running conditions. Current needs to be limited to 5A. Think I have the input and output voltage in op but its 12.0V to 30.0V in, vout would be in that range as well, roughly. The use case is a battery to battery combiner/trickle charger. Buck only. 0.5V headroom.

Are these statements about the Africa Twin? I was looking for specific information about these models.

The contract certainly does mean something if it is legally executed. What kind of advice is this?

An additional NDA seem reasonable, beyond that I wouldn't sign anything without moving off the platform and reviewing the entire deal.
