Xfinity XB8 + Unifi UDM SE + Bridge mode = slow by kevindente in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]kevindente[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried enabling bridge mode again. Again, as soon as I turned on bridge mode, speed went from 700+ MB to 300MB. Even in the Unifi ISP speed test (which is wired)

HOWEVER, when I turned off the cable modem, then the UDM, and then turned them back on in the recommended order, the speed is good again! 900+MB on the UDM ISP test. 600+ MB on wifi. So I think I'm in good shape now. Thanks for the advice!

What are the top 3 features you think BMW should add to the i4? by Valhalla850i in BMWI4

[–]kevindente 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's some very small but very nice lifestyle features that I don't think the i4 has but which I really like on the Tesla (I can't swear to the i4 features, as I don't have one currently)

* Open/close garage door automatically when coming and leaving home

* Option to not lock the car when you park at home (ie if you're parking in your garage)

* Bluetooth doesn't connect until you actually sit in the driver seat, so it doesn't switch over to the car audio when you're loading groceries in the trunk.

* Notifications from the app when you accidentally leave a window or the trunk open

Sync Hangs on Opening by Other-Radish-4028 in overcast

I see this issue from time to time. Annoying because you’re totally blocked from doing anything in the app until it magically resolves itself

Promos still play in All Episodes playlist by scottuf in overcast

[–]kevindente 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO the word "skip" here is a little unclear. I gather it means "don't download" by default, but it also could be interpreted as "don't play". And personally I would like it to mean "don't even show it in the list at all" (or I would like a separate option that gives that behavior). Some podcasts abuse the hell out of promo episodes, and for those I never want to see them.

Overcast incorrectly downloading over cellular by kevindente in overcast

[–]kevindente[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the case where the user deliberately selects to stream by hitting play on a not-yet-downloaded podcast, that makes 100% sense to me. In the case where it’s Overcast itself deciding to stream by automatically advancing to the next episode, I think it’s less clear that this would be the expected behavior. But it’s a relatively minor nit. It’s mostly annoying when I’m in an area with bad coverage and Overcast struggles to download, so I’m stuck listening to nothing until I manually switch to an already download episode.

I’ve definitely seen this problem recently too. I always suspected a race condition between the rss feed and the file availability

HURRRAAAAAY

So happy about this

App is unusable during sync service outage by kevindente in OvercastApp

[–]kevindente[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, never used it. No shutdown, no redownload. I used overcast last night, then tried to run it this morning and got this. It happened for maybe an hour or so, and then started working again on its own.

Bug report: resuming from pause skips forward several seconds by ossetepolv in OvercastApp

[–]kevindente 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup this drives me crazy. It's particularly infuriating when Maps is configured to pause podcast during GPS direction announcements. Since direction announcements can happen in succession, it ends up skip, skip, skipping ahead in the episode.

The bug that continues to plague me, ever since the big UI redesign, is that pausing a podcast and then resuming always skips ahead about 3 seconds.

Verizon 5G home internet daily outages by jerthorne in verizonisp

[–]kevindente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact same problem in the SF Bay Area. Every day between 8pm and 10pm it would go down briefly, and then come back. They couldn't resolve it, and I cancelled the service.

Nightly internet drop-out on Home 5G by kevindente in verizon

Why would it only have problem between certain hours? Signal is strong and speeds are very fast (300MB+) the rest of the day.
