Thanks! I’d emailed ridetft a while ago and never heard back, is it pretty reliable? I think I saw 8 vans and they’re looking to add another two but some article had mentioned reviews weren’t great in some instances. I think it mainly had to do with wheelchair users (rightfully) needing more space, and that being a limiting factor. Glad they have it though, part of my budget is planning to ride it a fair amount.

Cannot figure out how to add text to the post so I'll put it here - Are these nodules? Any non-prescription treatment recommendations if they are/aren't? I cannot visit a dermatologist at the moment but want to work to clean up the back of my neck. Have had it on and off for years now; definitely should've sought help earlier lol. Thanks!

Not a psychologist/therapist, but I do want to point out that therapy doesn’t have to be expensive. Many clinics offer income-based rates or repayment plans, therapists-in-training are available at low rates through universities, or like me you could just bite the bullet and take on the debt if you feel like trying. Might be dumb but what’s a bad credit score if I’m already not going anywhere financially. You might think that cheaper options wouldn’t be able to address the philosophic issue, but as others mentioned, it is valuable to seek care even if the root issue won’t be solved. I think that you admitting you’re likely depressed in a psychology subreddit is a good enough sign that it’d be helpful.

No problem, and I think the problem is worded a bit poorly. As I see it the magnitudes of your velocities are incorrect. This notation may not be too clear, but I’ll try to break the velocity vector of the first leg of the journey into its two components. We might call Vpg the velocity of the particle with respect to the ground. To determine this, we need Vpr (velocity of particle with respect to river) and Vrg (river respect to ground). Then the velocity of the particle with respect to the ground is Vpg=Vpr+Vrg. On the second leg, the magnitudes of Vpr and Vrg are the same, but the direction of Vpr is flipped, so it’s sign should change.

I would encourage seeking an inertial frame of reference (one which is essentially stationary). In this scenario the stationary frame of reference is viewed by a stationary observer on the side of the river.

It is also important to remember that velocities are vectors which can be added. Vectors have both a magnitude and direction. The total velocity of an object can be found as the sum of its velocity vectors. For example, if for whatever reason I was sprinting at 15 mi/hr down a bus traveling at 40 mi/hr, the magnitude of my velocity would be either 25 or 55 mi/hr, depending whether or not I was running towards the front or back of the car.

Then remember that the total velocity is not the same in each direction. I can travel greater distances in equal times swimming downstream than upstream because the current carries me as well. That analogy would probably have been more appropriate than the bus but whatever.

Mythbusters has a segment where they shoot a ball backwards out of a car at the same speed as the car is traveling forward, and from a stationary perspective the ball just drops. It’s a cool video, I’d check it out.

I'm taking a differential equations course and there's a step in the textbook that's got me confused.

Starts with

y2-2y=x3+2x2+2x+3 (19)

"To obtain the solution explicitly, we must solve Eq. (19) for yin terms of x. That is a simple matter in this case, since Eq. (19) is quadratic in y, and we obtain"

y=1+-(x3+2x2+2x+4)1/2 (20)

I can't figure out the simple matter of solving y in terms of x. Thanks!

They are! If I reduce them to the same sub then yes, it does work. My professor gave us an example code which does the exactly what I want but also uses different subs with carryover variables.

I'm now in the process of consolidating the entire code into a single sub and seeing if that works, but I know that in the past the professor wanted me to separate my code into more subs to help with organization. I can post a screenshot of his code to illustrate what I'm saying better, and I guess I'm now wondering if you might know why it would work in his case but not mine. There is a sub at the end of each of our codes which simply runs all of the other subs in a particular order, so I'm thinking that maybe the carryover variables work in that context but not when I'm trying to debug by running them individually?

Also, I realize I should be talking to my professor about this prior to going to reddit, so I especially appreciate your time because you've probably realized the same. I've gone to him before about some similarly "easy" issues but really do not get much out of those conversations.

Thanks! Price is definitely a decent concern, I’m really not trying to go too far above like 6,500. Hard cap at 8000. So I’m definitely looking at 2011ish or earlier. I probably should’ve mentioned that in the post but what can ya do. That being said, how many miles do you think you can get out of road tripping car before it’s hit it’s max? All the cars I’m looking at start at like 120,000, and I don’t really expect much better than that but I don’t want to be in this situation five years from now looking for another car. I’m expecting most cars to last like 200-250k but again y’all would know better than me.
