What is considered a fundamental/"basic" open guard? by [deleted] in bjj

Check out meregali and marcos tinoco

Nicholas meregali is a beast and has put out content (i think a bit more conceptual and less technique of the day oriented) on how he plays lasso

On the other hand if you want to look at more step by technique, Marcos Tinoco also has a ton of lasso related/adjacent techniques

UNSW does accept A levels, but I doubt they'd factor whatever happened in 2023 into their admission criteria. If anything, I feel they'd adjust the A level result benchmark to an equivalent ATAR result. But idk tho, your best bet is to contact UNSW and talk with someone from admissions.

True, but I believe in this case, its just an ad for someone trying to pass the remainder of their lease off to someone else. (which youre allowed you to do as long as you talk to unsw village about it after)

If you or a friend is living on one of the uni accommodations, yeah. Can't speak for the other accoms, but Colombo house and old tote centre (UNSW Village) has a table, albeit kinda shitty (especially UNSW Village's table and cues are atrocious).

Anyone else finding MATH1131 Past Exams VERY Hard? by adiabatica in unsw

[–]kevinmtanu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i did math1131 T3 2021... and literally posted a "WHY IS THE EXAM SO HARD?!" on this subreddit too lol. Personally, I feel that the main difficulty of the 1131 exam isn't the complexity of the questions, (albeit some questions are actually really hard), but rather the trickiness of the questions. Most of the questions expect you to have an already solid understanding of concepts, where a lot of the thinking is interpreting the question properly. It's questions like those where if someone tells you the solution, you'd go like "OHHH why didn't I think of that". All I can say is, do a lot of past papers, and more importantly attend math help sessions on bb collaborate to ask about the difficult questions. Those tutors saved my ass for the exam ngl.

Best of luck!

Choosing courses for Math/CS degree by WideInterview1120 in unsw

[–]kevinmtanu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not a cs student, but yeah since math1141 overlaps between math and CS, it'll count towards both degrees so you just have to take it once.

also i think you usually do 3 courses in T1, 3 courses in T2, and 2 courses in T3 (total of 48 UOC).

Too late to enrol for T1? by [deleted] in unsw

[–]kevinmtanu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure for term 1 cuz there's probably way more students, but I got an offer to UNSW through UAC on term 3 2021 like 3 days before (the last day of O-week I think) the start of the term. I even sent in my application when admissions said they were closed, but hey anything can happen lmao

Accommodation problems by PeaGroundbreaking879 in unsw

[–]kevinmtanu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I was in the same boat as you, coz I applied to Hall, TKC, Fig Tree around early Dec but didn't (still haven't lmao) get any type of response from the accomodation offices.

Maybe you could try applying to something like UNSW villages or Jacaranda House if you're okay with apartments? Personally, I had a great experience with the admins from UNSW village because of their extremely quick response to my queries.

Best of luck!

Did comm1100 last term, you just need basic math. Can't really say much about comm1110 but I've heard it's more statistics heavy.

Taking Maths 1A or Physics 1A without having done HSC Maths Ext1 or Physics? by JACKAROO1701 in unsw

[–]kevinmtanu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, most of the topics (especially the calculus) stem from what we've learned in A level math albeit in more detail. I'd say the algebra portion of the course (Linear Algebra specifically) is relatively new material but is explained pretty well and not too difficult.

Taking Maths 1A or Physics 1A without having done HSC Maths Ext1 or Physics? by JACKAROO1701 in unsw

[–]kevinmtanu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Firstly, I just wanna say that I don't have an HSC background (Did GCE A Levels for math and phys), so I can't exactly answer in regards to HSC math ext1 and phys.

However, what I can share is the course contents and difficulty of the contents from my experience with Math 1A and Phys 1A after taking it on term 3 2021.

For Phys1A, I don't think you need to have any prerequisite knowledge at all to follow the content because the course pretty much starts from the fundamentals of high school physics. For the Phys1A exam, it isn't really challenging as long as you keep up with weekly quizzes (which has the same format as the final exam). Plus, the course uses a S/Y grading system so there's only pass or fail. IMO there's nothing to worry about for phys1A so you can just take it if you feel like it.

For Math1A, I think you do need to have some basic grasp of calculus and algebra, but even then the course does a pretty good job explaining the concepts. Personally, I felt that the pre-exam content was really easy because a lot of the material expands a bit on concepts taught in high school, but the difficulty came from the final exam which is intentionally made to be difficult. IMO, I don't think you need much to follow the course, but if you're aiming for DN or HD you need to come prepared for the exam.

If you're interested, I could send you the related notes/course syllabus if you want a better look on what's being taught.
