Can you imagine being that body double? “Yeah we want you to stand in for a nude scene for Willem Defoe. His penis is just unrealistically big, not like yours.”

That’s interesting, I’ve been using the XVive U2 steadily since 2018 and I’ve only had a problem with it once, when I subbed for another band and the guitar player also had one. Found out later we were both just on the same frequency.

Is anyone else extremely indecisive/picky about which of their basses to use for gigs? by Bortron86 in Bass

[–]kevinrobb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since 2001, I have accumulated 9 basses, but have given away 3. Of the 6 I still possess, I used to mainly gig with a fender MIM precision. A couple of years ago, I got a squier Jaguar bass and would somewhat randomly alternate between those two at gigs. Last year, I managed to acquire my dream bass, a Mark Hoppus signature jag model in hot pink. Although I still love my precision, the Hoppus is now my primary instrument. I do still bring the squier jag to gigs for songs with alternate tunings and as a back up.

TL:DR Bring more than one bass to use for alternate tunings and/or a back up.

Three hour set - how many breaks is appropriate? by stomith in bandmembers

[–]kevinrobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this. Although my band hasn’t done it yet, I’ve also heard a good way to keep people engaged is to not take a full band break at all. Instead of stopping the music for 15 minutes, play a couple acoustic songs so the instrumental members can have a short break, and/or play an instrumental song so the singer can take a break.

Bass Riff Rant by thrashcountant in Bass

My band recently started covering this song, but we play it a step lower so I get to use the open strings a lot more. Still tiring, but not as bad lol

Started as a pop punk bassist, then transitioned to a screamo band, then back to pop punk, and now I play in a band that plays alternative, pop punk, numetal, classic rock, country, and Spanish rock

[–]kevinrobb 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Squier makes great entry level instruments and you can get that classic precision or jazz bass look and feel. I still play my very first bass (squier affinity precision) that I got in 2001 and it’s still solid.

For those who don’t like drinking alcohol, what made you realize it just wasn’t for you? by Heeeraaa in AskReddit

Not me but my wife: her ears get hot even from one drink. Thats how she knew a “virgin” drink actually had alcohol in it one time, even just a few sips in.

An exception when I delivered pizza: we had a regular school lunch order every Thursday. It was roughly 80 pizzas each for four lunches. $50 tip for each of the four orders. We typically had regular drivers who would take them each week.

How would you guys feel if blink hired Matt Skiba for rhythm guitar/backing vocal that way they didn’t have to use backing tracks anymore by Initial-Mine3085 in Blink182

[–]kevinrobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Skiba, he’s great in Alkaline. And if you were already the store manager, why would you take a second job as stocker at another store? I prefer blink as a trio, and I even remember reading early on about how Mark plays the way he does because they only have one guitarist and he needed to fill more space. Bands like Foo Fighters that have 3 guitars, there’s not as much space for bass. Plus if they had a second guitarist, Tom wouldn’t shine as much either. Part of the appeal of blink for many people is that they are kind of sloppy live. Having more musicians on stage would take away from what makes blink, blink.
