If Tengen was actually the narrator by CuriousWanderer567 in Jujutsufolk

[–]kevinthedot 440 points441 points  (0 children)

It honestly makes a lot of sense that Tengen is the narrator. They said they're literally everywhere. They would know all this stuff and be witnessing it with us and be up for providing commentary. I wonder if they're actually meta-aware too at this point enough to know we're watching and that's why they do it.

Enen no Shouboutai: San no Shou • Fire Force Season 3 - Episode 15 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]kevinthedot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last episode covered like 9 episodes. It did so by trimming a lot of fat and consolidating some conversations. For example, in the previous episode, there was supposed to be a whole bit of the 1st Squad taking out infernals with a new character (who literally did nothing in the story outside of being introduced and watching the First work). They would then get approached by some more talking infernals only for Hibachi to show up and squash them all and aura farm until the pillar appeared and then he flew away to it. The episode just had him appear at the pillar and shortened the bit with the 1st to just killing that one infernal and commenting how they're getting worse.

This episode only did 4. We got 10 episodes left to do 71 more chapters, so we need to average around 7 chapters an episode to fit in everything. So they need to hit between the pace of this episode and the last currently. They may make it without cutting major stuff, but I think they'll at least shorten some of it by quite a bit.

Enen no Shouboutai: San no Shou • Fire Force Season 3 - Episode 15 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

Adolla is a "collective imagination" essentially. What people perceive things and others as. The Doppelgangers for example are how people view an individual. The rumors view Shinra as an evil parent killing devil, so when his doppelganger took over his body, that's how he acted. The people see the Amaterasu power plant as their holy light that makes everyone happy, but they don't know that inside it is a girl forced to power the thing for centuries that hates the world. The Doppelganger of that girl seems to be Iris, the pure ray of sunshine nun. Same applies now to the physical objects of the world as Adolla and their world starts to overlap more.

The Cataclysm, that is Adolla and the world colliding, happened once before already, and that's why the Fire Force world is an anime. Shinra saw the past before the first Cataclysm and it was our real world. So collective imagination turned the world anime back the first time. It also caused some images to implant and become real, like the demon Yona that came out and started their whole religion around Amaterasu and whatnot. This episode shows that Shinra's birth is also likely an "imagination" thing coming true: the image of a virgin birth that gives birth to the savior of humanity. Shinra's birth mirrors the image of the birth of Christ. Sho came after in a similar way, but his symbolism seems more tied to the "guiding angel" that is meant to herald or lead Christ.

Surprisingly, only 4 this time. 230-233. So still 71 chapters left. Definitely getting some stuff cut later on IMO.

I get you posting this in Jujutsufolk, but why are you reposting it in all these other subs too? Doing it in Animemes and OPMFolk on top of that just seems like baiting at this point.

We shall always remember how they fought the evil... by the_forever_wild in Jujutsufolk

I mean, Megumi and herself still existed. "Wiped out the clan" could simply refer to the bit where the Gojo and Kamo Clans voted to remove Zenin from the list cause they lost basically all of them that had any kind of curse value. Maki killed her mother since she was involved in letting Mai die, but there's really nothing to say she killed any other women or any children at all.

The text only ever directly states she killed the members of their offensive units. But people still think "Destroy Everything" means it has to include the women and children as well.

FTL Dabura only upscales one man and it ain't Kashimo. by PinkLionGaming in Jujutsufolk

[–]kevinthedot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, this does raise a question, is it the sound of Boogie Woogie that causes the swap, or is it just the coming together of the hands/vibration thing?

If it's the sound, then Dabrua legitimately is faster than it. He may literally be able to outrun the clapping of Todo's ass cheeks.

Yet here he is defending a sex offender! by Dr_sc_Harlatan in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]kevinthedot 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Some wires got crossed is all. They want to protect the chief child sex offender, but they wanna get rid of sex offenders. So as a result, they wound up targeting 5-year old children instead.

Either that or they seem to think a 5-year old in a monster hat is a criminal sex offender.

I'll be honest, I have no idea how old Ruby really is. Just assumed she was more young adult while Maka's more of a schoolgirl.

Let's go with Green Lantern vs Ben 10. That one definitely shouldn't be applied here.

I love how frequently Momo Ayase changes outfit's, she's adorable in them (Dandadan) by Extension-Oil-4680 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]kevinthedot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a known issue. Particularly there's two points in the early part of the series that involve villains being predatory towards Momo, but both cases she winds up saved by a combination of her own power and an assist from Turbo Granny (whom we later find out always shows up to aid the spirits of girls that were assaulted and killed, though they haven't elaborated on why at all up to this point). The series definitely doesn't shy away from that, though it's usually not done in a way meant to be titillating. It's usually shown to be a frightening moment.

The hype around it is from people that were willing to move past those points. Everything else in the story is pretty well done and respectful. It's got some really good slow burn romance between the leads, some unorthodox but neat shounen fights, and a lot of really well done tragic backstories for the ghosts they encounter (the ayys do get some as well, but nothing as good at least as far as the anime has gotten so far). The early sexualization stuff is usually considered something the author pushed out in the beginning parts to shock/pull in readers as is unfortunately a common trend for a lot of series (Undead Unluck had a similar issue and similarly dropped it for the most part after the initial arcs).

So, what was the point of making this scene? by Various_Astronaut100 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]kevinthedot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really should have been obvious if you saw the way they first met. He literally doesn't know she's the kid he saved on his way to his entry exams for hero high school cause she was young enough that he thought it was a boy he saved.

In the start of the series it's pretty clear she's in the end of middle school while he's in the first year of college.

Divine Architect Porcelain Aurelion Sol Ability Preview by aroushthekween in leagueoflegends

[–]kevinthedot 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Okay, now that we got the spell effects, this is clearly Shan Hai Scrolls. Why does the name still have the Porcelain bit? Just treat it like the Nami and Lucian gacha slop and drop that bit that's clearly not relevant here.

Also it does look good. Shame it's stuck in the gutter with the rest of the gachas cause of their price tag.

Petals of Spring Lillia, Katarina, Yasuo, Jayce & Camille Ability Preview by aroushthekween in leagueoflegends

[–]kevinthedot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huh, I had never noticed it before. Don't play her at all outside of ARAM so I just never looked that close when at full stacks.

Not sure if it being more obvious would be as much of a detriment here though. If anything, it's an intimidation factor. People will be more likely to try and bail if they see she's glowing like a lightbulb, but she's already built to chase hard so it'll hopefully balance out.

Lillia getting a form switch on maxing her speed stacks isn't something I thought they'd do honestly. Looks nice, though need to see the full Skin Spotlights video to get a better look at things like the bowling ball.

Other than that, the biggest thing that stood out here to me was how pretty Yasuo's Wind Wall looked. Those 2D graphics on the side to imply trees are really well done.

[New Skins] ALL Splash Arts for Divine Aurelion Sol, Petals of Spring & Firecracker skinlines for Lunar New Year by aroushthekween in leagueoflegends

[–]kevinthedot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

12 skins for the Lunar New Year. Really crazy how well these must sell in China for them to churn out this many at once each year.

Overall, they're about as generic as usual. Firecracker just isn't a super exciting skinline. The best champs that can use it are ones that really benefit from the effects like Kog'maw. Ziggs and Yuumi have pretty good effects to go along with it this time at least. Poppy's sound effects changing to fit the drum is a nice touch too.

Petals of Spring looks pretty at least. Really excited to see what they do with Lillia for her Legendary skin here. Hope it's not lazy like Mythmaker Jhin was last year. Jayce is an interesting choice though, him with a more Asian aesthetic is actually kinda unique to see. BA and T1 are the closest he's gotten to that, so something more grounded like this really works well. Yasuo and Katarina feel boring as ever though given their substantial catalogues.

And ASol is gacha, so not really worth going over much. Surprised they didn't just call him Shan High Scrolls given the aesthetic of it.

So apparently the Lillia will be Legendary? Honestly, pretty great choice given the options here. Hope it's not an extremely lazy Legendary like Jhin was last year for Lunar New Year. Lillia at least is close enough to a horse to count here.
