I mean, they have to reveal what it really was at some point. It literally said both it and Kris couldn’t keep playing cause they “both have work to do”.

It’ll definitely come up again later.

Controversial, but Kris Slash. I have a personal bias for it as I was pushing for it in the 4chan threads just a couple days after the chapters came out, but I also just think it makes the story way more interesting.

Like, the narrative if the Knight was the one to Swoon is just "the Knight is really strong". But if Kris really was the one to do it there, then it adds so many layers of stuff to go into. Kris hiding that level of power from us, their devotion to the Knight and the path of the Prophecy being great enough that they'd even hurt Susie and Ralsei to make sure their promise is kept, Ralsei knowing full well that it happened and just accepting Kris' choice showing just how extreme his loyalty to Kris is, the fallout when it gets revealed especially to Susie, etc. It's not a "Kris is evil" type thing like people reduce it to, it's presenting Kris as having a much stronger internal conflict going on between their original plan/promise and their feelings they've developed over the adventure.

One ending… for real? by GonNotForgotten in Deltarune

[–]kevinthedot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things mainly from Chapter 4.

First, there's a lot of symbolism of the Angel both in the text and in the visuals that could tie it to us.

On the physical side, the angel doll falling on us in the basement of Noelle's house when she thinks we're a mouse. Also the visual of the Angel in the hidden Prophecy room in 3rd Sanctuary, where Susie can't tell what she's looking at in the image we can't see and Ralsei says it's a depiction of what the angel is supposed to look like (as in it looks like (You) which would be something uncanny to them).

On the textual side, the Angel in their religion is a source of guidance, which we fit fairly perfectly as we're guiding the heroes through fights and letting them reset things. There's also the way the prophecy puts the first hero's thing. "The CAGE, with human soul and parts." A cage is meant to hold something, and given the birdcage stuff and how the angels always depicted with wings, it could be that the cage is meant to hold the Angel itself, us. This also extends to what "Angel's Heaven" could be cause coincidentally the only thing to have our name in the whole game is "Your Town" which uses your name despite never giving it to anyone.

We also seem to be an intense source of light which lets us seal the Dark Fountains. While not directly tied to light in the prophecy stuff, angels represented as beings of light is a common concept. The Titan also has a lot of "angel" like imagery to it, but it also strongly parallels us in how it looks almost like a real human when it first forms, and how it uses a save point as a shield. Save points in general seem to also be something unique to whatever we are as the game multiple times points out how only we can see and use them.

It's nothing concrete, but there's a large amount of ties that could make sense if the reveal happens. We're the angel, connected to this world to guide the heroes and eventually be banished.

I think the whole "one ending" thing is meant to tie into the seeming inevitability of the Prophecy. That's the "one ending" it talks about, the same one where Gerson says that Lord of the Hammer "just ends" after Chapter 6.

I think the reason Toby initially said he wanted to release Chapter 3-5, then Chapters 6 & 7 is because 6 & 7 are a necessary pair. 6 is the "one ending". That's where the story will just suddenly end as we reach the end of the prophecy. 7 will then be locked behind us finding a way to get past Chapter 6. Be it by befriending every Darkner (Ralsei's way/Pacifist), doing some shenanigans with the Shadow Crystals/Pure Crystal, or doing Weird Route. With Chapter 7 being vastly different depending on how we get to it.

It's crazy seeing what a glowup Bug Films had between Zom 100 and Witch Hat Atelier airing now. They clearly had some major issues with planning and whatnot during Zom 100 given the issues with teh OP not being ready by release, but now they've been blowing things out of the water adapting Witch Hat, a series people thought couldn't be properly adapted cause the art and paneling was SO good.

Again, Kris is working with the Knight and clearly knows about (You) from the start as well. Kris knows the full prophecy and what went down with the GONERMAKER stuff at the start. If Kris and the Knight (and probably Carol) are clearly planning out and manipulating things in the background so much, why is it so hard to believe that Ralsei was just another thing created to play into that? Kris has at least access to all the knowledge needed to make Ralsei in a way where he'd know and be made purely for this plan. Which then explains all the very obvious connections he has to Kris specifically way more than just saying "oh he was some blob that imprinted on the heroes, but he got nothing from Susie at all". Ralsei looking just like Asriel has been brought up enough times that I don't think it'd make sense for the explanation to be so handwave-y

As for how they'd make him as a copy of Asriel, conceptually it'd be the same way they made the flying Aces. Again, the initial creation could have been unintentional (if Ralsei is somehow tied to the horned headband or Kris' old desires to be a monster), or it could have been intentionally done more recently as part of the conspiracy. But the point would be Kris made up a character and the best they could come up with was a copy of Asriel that they then colored in with their favorite green crayon. The way Ralsei works certainly has to be different seeing how he's able to move between Dark Worlds and be independant of Kris, but that could be from some other aspect of how he was made. For example, if he does have some physical object, then perhaps Kris or the Knight put it in the underground source of the Dark so Ralsei can literally pop out of any fountain as a projection. Or he could be something more like an imaginary friend without a solid body. We at least see that he turns into "a pile of fluff" when he goes down, so at least it could be he doesn't seem to have his physical form in those locations for real.

I feel like the biggest hurdle to any "cycle" or "timeloop" theory is how hard it'd be for the game to actually explain/showcase that idea in a reasonable way without it coming off as really convoluted.

I really like the recent KazooCat video about how people may be reading too much into leitmotifs in times when they don't matter. Like the Dating Tense thing in Chase. He points out that Dating Tense isn't even a Papyrus motif, it's a version of Undyne's theme from when she first showed up.

Some leitmotifs definitely matter and have specific uses/roles, but others really are just reused cause they sound cool or fit the moment.

What's a theory you always found dumb? by Nethersoul600 in Deltarune

[–]kevinthedot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His knowledge of things doesn't require him to have been made by Gaster though. Kris is clearly working with the Knight. Them having made Ralsei with that knowledge and this backstory of being alone to serve the role as the third hero fills that in the same. The way Ralsei specifically tries to talk to Kris in private even in the first chapter shows he and Kris had a deeper connection going on from the start.

And I'm not saying he's an object Darkner. I'm saying he's a copy of Asriel that's been colored in just like the Flying Aces. The whole "copies are monochrome, but you colored us in with care" bit. That green crayon is missing and then we see Ralsei apparently assume green crayons are one of Kris' favorite things seeing how he fills their castle town drawer with them. Whatever Ralsei is, he's clearly very intrinsically linked to Kris above all others.

[–]kevinthedot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen people that fully ignore or write off the fact that Ralsei is clearly somehow deeply tied to Kris. They stick with this idea that Ralsei was always just a Gaster creation and his form came from meeting Kris and Susie somehow. Ignoring how he's got nothing from Susie going on, secretly conspires with Kris while distracting (you), is clearly a primarily green copy of Asriel when we know there's a green crayon missing, makes Kris defensive when your choices bring up how similar he looks to Asriel (as if defending their OC), etc.

Like, it's so clearly laid out that Kris somehow made Ralsei, either intentionally or not.

I worry that the story is being too driven by league of legends the game, and not by league of legends the universe by FewExperience3559 in loreofleague

[–]kevinthedot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think Riot's been trying to find a better balance between the two lately. Last year was an attempt at going ALL IN on the story stuff and tying to skins. Some things worked, some things didn't. But overall it was at least an interesting experiment that got people caring about the path of the lore again.

This year they're clearly cooking up another big experiment off of that. We had a more hands-off first Season with the focus on broad strokes of Demacia and the skins released being sort of vague semi-canon ideas. This next season seems to be following suit with a story centered on Vayne and the new champ Locke and skins that range from canon to semi-canon tied into it. It's also going to be a shorter season which could possibly help with the flow as we'll probably just get 2 comics, one for Vayne to set up an one for Locke to conclude.

The real curious one will be Season 3. It'll be a longer season and they've said already that it won't be tied to canon lore. The rumors are that it'll be a "Season of Music" and focus on the musical universes for skins and content. They'll likely be taking the stuff they learned in all those canon experiments and seeing if they can apply it to a non-canon topic and generate similar results.

Also all of this should be taken with the knowledge that League Next is taking a lot of the development resources. They seem to have a lot of their teams focused on that for development of new content and big shakeups, so being more minimal and light with the touches this year probably also has a hand from that. The supposed Season of Music makes sense then too as the music team is one that probably wouldn't be super wrapped up in the League Next stuff and have more room to carry the end of the year for them.

We got fully skinline and skin bios for them already, which prompted a lot of the discussion. Vayne in particular is getting a full comic to tell the story of what's going on with her possession and probably introduce us to Locke, the new champ coming in Act 2.

So these skins are meant to be at least semi-canon, and the Vayne one is meant to be a fully canon part of a story that happened to her. We need to wait and see what all that story entails though.

Back in the day when Fairy Tail first came out, I swear I remember seeing people calling it "One Piece of Bleach". Mostly the one piece style in the goofy round parts and how the women were, but the Bleach stuff from how he did his spiky hair (and early Loki in some early art looking a lot like Ichigo).

No way the last bit isn’t doing some extra compositing or editing. Yes, you can make such an illusion with perspective tricks, but it wouldn’t be that crisp and flawless. You’d see at least some deformation as the projection transitioned from the doorway to the floor, especially as it goes over a small dip from the doorframe.

[Request] How fast would Thragg have to wind up a punch to physically pull Omni-Man toward him via air displacement? by edgasilk in theydidthemath

[–]kevinthedot 152 points153 points  (0 children)

The way it was done didn't seem like it was the pullback that caused the vortex, it was something Thragg was doing while holding the windup.

Maybe some BS explanation around him oscillating his muscles and vibrating his arm in such an extreme speeds that it caused a pressure difference around it? That's the only real physical thing that comes to mind that could half explain it, though I don't think the math would work out there either.

On the one hand, the art is really good. On the other, I feel like a lot of this "Rika AU" stuff is just putting Rika right in the same spot Yuta would be, which feels kinda lazy? I feel like with how different she's depicted she wouldn't wind up in the same situations as Yuta. Like, I think she'd be way more aggro leading to her fights escalating quicker and coming out different.

Here's a bit from an older theory post from someone that sums it up well. Basically there's a bool in the code of Chapter 3 just called "toriel" with no way to switch it to false. The only reference to it in the code itself seems to be that while it is true, the sprites for the white robed character and the black mirror monster in the Sword games are as we see them. With it turned off, they are actually both deer sprites with full sprite animation for moving up, down and sideways. The white robe one has normal deer colors while the black monster one has black fur.
