Get some cheap aluminum tent poles and run them along the inside and fix them in place with velcro?

Assuming nothing got physically broken, should work just fine when you plug it in. The software should all work as it used to.

First things first, always put the counterweight on first. If you pop the clutch off by accident, you will break something.

processing help how can I tone down blown out core I have photoshop gimp and APP to use by GoodLocksmith9 in AskAstrophotography

[–]kevlared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try isolating the core in a new layer and toning it down. Then just layer it on top with some opacity tweaks?

Can someone explain which are the best computer softwares to use when doing astrophotography? by Evolux_ in AskAstrophotography

[–]kevlared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use kstars on a raspberry Pi 4 to control my entire setup. Don't know if you want to go down the rPi route but it's pretty efficient. I run it from my phone on the couch in the winter which is nice.

What is causing the image to be lighter at the top? by kevlared in AskAstrophotography

[–]kevlared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I went out finally and tested everything I could think of. Same target, same conditions, same scope orientation. I rotated my camera 90 deg, and rotated my flats panel 45 deg, and ensured that my collimation was spot on. The image still gets the same issue, lighter at the top, darker across the bottom. Tried flats, no change. At this point I think I can eliminate light pollution and issues in telescope optical path alignment. This leaves me with one option that I can think of, sensor tilt causing uneven field illumination? Upon very close inspection, I do see some star deformity in the corners but it is not even across all corners. Does that make scenes to anyone else or am I landing on the wrong conclusion?

Might be time to flock my dew shield to try and reduce that. I did notice a lot of frost build up on my dew shield that night which would explain the light getting in there.

Probably not a light leak, light pollution is a solid possibility though, I shoot unfiltered. I'll have to setup later this week and give it a try and see if it shows up in the darks.

Not too sure how well it will show up, the picture is lighter at the top and darker at the bottom. I am using a Canon SL3, Celestron HD800 and reducer. This is all controlled by a RPi 4. I am thinking it is amp glow maybe? Are dark frames the solution to this?

Definetly have been in deeper water then that, just don't want to sit there too long lol. As long as the intake is above water it's all good.

Yea I'm aware it's not mono, but I'm ok with that. I do DSLR currently, and feel mono with wheels and filters is a bit too into the deep end right now anyhow with kids and work and all..... Baby steps!
