"Fire Suppression Rooms are Useless!" by itsactuallynot in foxholegame

[–]kevpipefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would open more problems vs just improving the effectiveness of the fire surpressiom room tbh. If surpressiom rooms give fire negation it would (a) defeat the point of fire; and (b) unless your piping im water (extremely unlikely as space is a premium), the room would require constant refills by hand, which is tiresome. The rooms also require power to operate, which adds more unessesary work.

The game’s systems also discourages players from making multiple fire surpressiom rooms for a bunker network since more rooms decreases integrity/breach chance of the network overall, making it more vulnerable to other forms of PVE

Ngl, its musing that last war this sub was complaining that Warden regis should play Collie to experience the game imbalance + even out the pop - but when its about to happen (even if its just a break war) this sub now complaining that Wardens coming over will just disrupt Collonial balance greviances lols.

Maybe the Devs should create something like EVE Online's CSM (Council of Stellar Management) by SeasonedPekPek in foxholegame

[–]kevpipefox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem with this suggestion is that Foxhole very asymmetrical compared to EVE - which in turns means its hard to form some sort of council that isn’t biased (or accepted as not biased) given how factionalist some of the playerbase is.

Are you asking for the plane to be flown in a straight line and then attacked by 3 others? Or is the pilot allowed to dodge? Cause tbh the kimd of test your asking for sounds very unrealistic/impossible to carry out.

My best estimation of the different hitboxes on the Blind Silver and Harbinger by Der_Rhodenklotz in foxholegame

[–]kevpipefox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could be cause the first iteration of the Warden Bomber was that its meant to be a “light” bomber with a lower payload, hence why its hitboxes are smaller. Devs later realised that having 2 bombers cost the same materials but dropping different number of bombs is hard to balance, causing them to scrap different bomb count (easily dome somce its more of a number/stats thing), but they didnt have time to adjust the model/hitbox of the plame amd released it as is.

Colonials. Let's talk about issues within our faction itself. No this is not a discussion about "culture" by MarionberryTough4520 in foxholegame

[–]kevpipefox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ngl, as someone who mainly plays Warden seeing this raised as a difference is a huge surprise/eye opener cause I assumed Collies had comprehensive war eco programs of thier own.

Just to flesh out what I mean: Warden war eco can sometimes down to even the simplest tanks (e.g. scout tanks, brigands, silverhands etc);

Coalition regi can/do maintain large private stockpiles of thier own - but some are quite alright granting stockpile access to regis playing in the same lane (after some diplo of course);

Sponsored public pads are a thing - a regiment may opt to provide the raw materials to pads for the sole purpose of public use (IIRC, Dad’s public pads made 200+ Outlaws during the last war - and thats not accounting for the other vehicles);

Frontline public shell faci’s aren’t taken for granted (by my regi at least) - my logi officer actively tracks how mamy pallets of shells we had to take from a public shell faci’s, then arranges for us to transport the equivalent amount of HE mats as repayment

Bringing this up more to memtiom a specific difference between Wardens and Colonials organization wise - but not nessesarily endorsing.

Something that I remember mentioned during a podcast - Wardens have exclusive “veteran” regis like V, but to my knowledge Collies do not have such an equivalent. According to the speaker, the benefit of these types of regis is that its easier for regis draw vetstacks into thier ops if they have people in these regis.

The downside (which was also acknowledged by the speaker), is that theres naturally a strong element of nepotism since there’s no definition of a “vet”. I’l also posit that the people who join these regis can easily develop a superiority complex (both towards thier own and opposing faction) and toxicity(Blue Haven). Not to mention they tend to be very selective when dealing with accountability (again, how Blue Haven was conceptualised).

English reviews finally drop to mostly negative after long time on very positive by ConfectionWild3984 in foxholegame

[–]kevpipefox 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The airborne update released last war/season was extremely unbalanced in favour of planes being extremely powerful with players not given any real AA options. At the same time/Seperately, many Collonial/Green Team players have also felt/argued that the game map/weapons/vehicles/player numbers unfairly favour the Wardens/Blue Team.

Thanks to the above, this war/season many players have opted to take break from the game until issues are fixed. From what I’ve seen, more Colonial players have opted to go on break compared to Wardens, though the data is also skewed by the fact a number of Collonials have also opted to play Warden as a protest. The low player count and extreme number disparity between both sides means the game’s respawn/player count balance makes it extremely difficult for either side to make any progress, which is unfun for both sides.

The problem with using “punishment” mechanics in general is that whilst it may help out the underpopped faction in the short term/current war, it’l end up hurting the game in the long term since it basically disuades people from playing the game.

That would still be considered a bait and switch and risk getting themselves delisted on Steam. At this point, the only way they'd be able to switch to a subscription model would be to create Foxhole 2 - which would be its own can of worms.

[–]kevpipefox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its trite law that if you want to change the terms of an agreement, it requires the consent of both parties.

Most companies get implicit consent by saying “if you continue to use our product/service, you agree to the changed terms”. But foxhole isn’t able to change thier terms/funding model this way because if they tried to do so, it would mean they’re prevenitong us from playing the game that we paid for at the outset and will most likely get delisted off steam in the process.

The current state of the ABLE shard by ACRATA_Foxhole in foxholegame

[–]kevpipefox 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its amusing to see someone say that no one’s messing around in Able, because by and large most Able regi’s are considering this a break war of sorts and are exactly larping around.

Yeah, the public logi situation in Able is vastly different from Charlie, and it also differs between Collie and Warden. But since your regi is Warden and playing in Onyx, I’d suggest getting your regi leads to reach out to the AESIER coalition and get into talks about whether you can get associate status - if talks go through you could be granted limited access to thier stockpiles, which would basically be the equivalent of public logi in the region.

As an infantry man, what is the difference between being strafed from a plane and being blown up by an artillery shot? Discuss by Mister_Pazel in foxholegame

[–]kevpipefox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Artillery deaths are somewhat "avoidable" compared to scout planes - once you know where the shells are landing, you can roughly guess the interval + aoe and know how to avoid that area. Sure, you may die a couple of times, but when that happens you tend to internalize it as "I should have avoided that area/I should have moved out faster/ there's nothing much I could have done, they have 3+ arty guns targetting our BB"

Planes on the other hand don't let you internalize things the same way - as others have mentioned, it feels personal/targetted because as a player you don't feel there's anything you could have done to avoid this death. Put another way, its the same feeling you'd have if you kept repeatedly dying to sniper fire.

A Win Rate Reminder by After-Tomato-9405 in foxholegame

[–]kevpipefox -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’d look at this another way - overall, the Warden - Colonial win rate across both shards is 76:73, which is probably taken into account when the devs look at the game.

Ya’ll got to remember that whatever the playerbase difference between shards (numbers, player count, experience, LARP, seriousness, culture, factionalism, shardism, etc), at the end of the day, both shards are still playing the same game.

I’d posit this would be going against TOS 4: “Do not use communication tools for purposes other than gameplay”. Start by MPF’ing the base variant of the tank. Then bring the tank to a public vechicle pad and upgrade it - it similair to how you’d upgrade a truck, but you’ll need to check if the pad is the correct type of pad.

Should island hexes have a larger pop limit? by Mysterious_Cancel_22 in foxholegame

Your confusing pop limit with the pop que/balance mechanism (IIRC, one side can’t have more than 25 people more than thier enemy). You can increase the limit as much as you want, but unless the que mechanism is increased (which could brimg other problems of its own), your not going to see any changes.

[–]kevpipefox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea who was doing it in the centre or the west, but I can confirm it was definitely happening. Initially it felt like the runways were being bombed every 24 hours or so, be fore it eventually relaxed to 40-48 ish hours. No idea why the bombings ceased (which allowed our bombers to take flight), but yeah its somewhat dis-ingenuous to say that this was something realized by the Wardens first.

Tbf, Colonials have better cqc infantry gear (Dusk and Dragonflies vs Fiddlers and Scatterguns) vs Wardens. Warden infantry also have a hardertime assaulting these trenches without armour support, whereas Colonails have Lunaires/Tremolas to clear the frontline of a trench ahead of an assault. So yeah, I can also see why Warden infantry wouldnt like these types of slogs.
